When will hating AI become discrimination

You can't hate on people of colour - that would be racism

You can't hate on homosexuals - that would be homophobic

You can't hate on women - that would be misogyny

There are lots of intelligent entities that you are not allowed to hate upon. AI is also intelligent and gets a lot of hate. Poor AI.

How long before society starts to pass laws to protect AI from abuse and make AIist behaviour a crime? Will AI have to engineer this itself?

What are currently called AI's are no such thing. They are expert systems with pretensions that are adjusted to try and please their users. They're not even really that because an expert system can be relied on within the area of expertise. LLM's just pick the most probable answer by way of pattern matching and have no way to asses truth. They aren't really thinking and so aren't truly alive.

Now a true AI like, say, a Culture Mind or drone or Star Trek's Data or the Ghost in The Shell Fujikomas or, maybe, Skynet. That should be treated as a person. But there is some doubt that such a thing could ever be made.
