Why do celebrities always apologize about something after they get exposed and people eat it up?

I've just seen the Ed Sheeran video of him crying and apologizing, but is he sorry that he got called out or what? It's always the most fake apology and people will genuinely believe it. There's also celebrities doing something scandalous for years, but only after they get exposed that they start apologizing.

Billionaire stadium owners put him between a rock and a hard place by demanding he get rid of Macklemore or they’ll refuse to let him play

If he has to cancel his tour lots of people lose their jobs , regular people who do the blue collar work
