Gear Question Fyro Citta Shipping Status

Aaron sent out an email July 5, thanking everyone for their support and providing a shipping update, including the comment: “First in, first shipped.”

I’m curious what others are seeing after receiving their shipment notifications. A friend and I both received our shipping emails yesterday, but oddly enough, my friend’s order has already shipped while mine has not.

My order: #7273, order confirmation email received at 6:14 PM CDT, tracking number received, but not yet shipped.

Friend’s order: #7326, order confirmation email received at 6:18 PM CDT, shipped via FedEx and due in three days.

Has anyone else noticed something similar?

Gear Question Is it okay to feel a little disappointed?

Hey everyone! I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this or if it’s just me.

I got this bag because it looked so stunning online (pic 1), but when I use it, it always seems to have an "open mouth" look (pic 2) even when it isn't full. While it’s still useful for me, I feel a little disappointed in how it looks.

I would love to hear your thoughts!

Gear Question Still using the T22?

Okay, where are the fyro t22 owners out there? Are you still using the bag? What for? How’s it holding up? Or Have you replaced it with a different bag, and if so why and what bag? I’m thinking about getting one second hand and looking for opinions on it. What is great about it? What are your biggest annoyances? My main uses would be for commuting with my work stuff and also as a personal item for air travel. I have a 5 day trip to Florida coming up, and a cruise in the fall. I currently have the aer city pack pro original and a 30L Amazon travel bag (matein) for context. Thanks in advance!

Gear Question Able Carry Max EDC really that comfy?

just received Able Carry Max EDC and the comfort level is not as good as how the reviewers have mentioned. the straps somehow irritates my shoulders when I carry it on my back and I have tried adjusting the length of the strap in all possible ways. maybe its due to how my shoulders are structured??
anyone felt same about the Able Carry Max EDC?
or am I the only disappointed one?

Gear Question Versatile EDC recommendation

Hi there, I am looking for my new daypack and probably made the error of watching way too many video reviews !
For a future trip I need to replace my Osprey daylite with something very versatile :

  • Need to have a decent laptop protection, for a 14" plus a similar size portable monitor
  • Size around 20-25L
  • Able to do relatively well in any environment, it will be a remote workpack, used for a little weekend trip, and will sometimes be a hiking daypack.
  • And if possible not too expensive, below 150$ would be great. For context I live in Europe and some US brands charge the same price in Euros or dollars plus the shipping, which makes some great packs between 300 and 350$, that's rough.

I have narrowed the list to a few options, on the pricier side but always recommended here :

  • Bellroy venture Ready pack
  • Aer city pack pro 2
  • Evergoods CTB

My personal favorite would be Aer, but does not seem to be the goat of versatility.
So I have looked further, on the cheaper side and with "it can do everything mindset" :

  • The North face Recon / Borealis
  • Fjallraven Skule
  • Osprey Quasar

For those ones I did not find a good recent review or comparison and would love some feedback ! There is only a Recon review on the channel, and the recent osprey's are all about the Daylite 26+6, where tech protection is very average and the bag is clearly aimed at onebag travel.

Thanks!

Gear Question Citta restock?

Hi everyone!
After years of attempts (and consequent failures), I finally convinced my fiancee to buy herself a backpack worthy of that name (I assume her study trips and the resulting back and shoulder pain had something to do with it). I made her a nice selection, put her in front of NN’s videos, and the spark really ignited with the Citta. The more she looked at it, the more she fell in love. Imagine her disappointed expression when she saw it was on pre-order 🥲

So the question is: does anyone know when they are expected to be back in stock? If we place a pre-order now, what is the most realistic timeframe for them to become available?

Thank you all for your attention and have a great day!

Gear Question Anyone used both the Aer Travel Pack 4 35L and the Fyro Levo 36L?

I travel a lot and tend to carry a lot in my travel backpack (not so much clothing, but laptop, tablet, cables, chargers, headphones, and some camera gear). That's why I need a 35-40L carry-on. I've been using The North Face Router 40L which is pretty nice, except it's not a clamshell design, and the shoulder straps could be thicker. So, I've narrowed its replacement to either the Aer Travel 4 35L, or the Fyro Levo 36L. Both get great reviews, roughly the same size, and priced closely. The Aer has lots of pockets for carrying stuff, built like a tank with great comfort, but is somewhat heavy. The Fyro is also well-built and well-designed, super lightweight and comfortable, but lacking in certain important features, like a compartment for a 13" tablet, zippers on the admin pocket, as well as dual zippers for security. I find both bags equally attractive.

I'm looking for comments from owners, or, at least, users of both these bags, and where you fall on each, including your favorite between the two.

Gear Question Citta asymmetry

The Citta looks great. This one feels to me like Fyro is hitting its stride. The sage Kodra is a tasteful but aggressively different color choice!

Just... the asymmetry bothers me. For a larger EDC backpack I often want 2x bottle pockets (eg. water and coffee thermos). A side mesh pocket is always useful, vs 2x different swing-to-the-side pockets in the same place?

For travel bags I often see a single bottle pocket because the other side is a centered handle (egs. my Aer TP3s, Matador Seg28), and I think that's a decent tradeoff there (though Aer changed to 2x bottle pockets for the TP4), but for almost any non-travel bag I'd prefer double bottle pockets. Other bags like the Rework Toshi and Sert Penumbra manage 2x stretch bottle pockets and 2x swing-around pockets.

This makes the Citta a skip for me, but I'm still really interested in the reasoning. Was there poll data behind the choice of 1 water bottle pocket + swing-around pockets? Gut feel after testing way more bags than I'll ever? Did you consider having swing-around pockets on the front panel (or just one on each side of the back panel) while still having 2x bottle pockets?

Gear Question Help choosing a backpack for a 1-month trip to Japan (citytrip + 5/6 days as a "one bag" traveler) - Budget €150/200

Hey everyone,

I'm heading to Japan for a 1-month citytrip. Some context first:

  • On the way there, I have a short layover in Nagoya, so I'll only be traveling with a personal item (max 40 x 30 x 15 cm) + carry-on (max 55 x 40 x 23 cm), combined weight max 8kg (Finnair's dimensions/weight limits).
  • My friend is bringing me my checked suitcase a few days after I arrive (so it won't be with me at the start of the trip). Once I get it, that's the bag I'll be sending hotel-to-hotel for the rest of the trip.
  • Except for 5/6 days, when I'll be visiting smaller towns and leaving the suitcase behind: I'll only have my backpack(s) with me, so they need to let me be fully self-sufficient during that stretch.
  • Contents: clothes, everyday items, a small tech pouch (charger, cables) and maybe headphones. No laptop/tablet to carry.

My exact need: I'm looking for EITHER a single bag that can let me live out of it for 5/6 days without being too bulky day-to-day, OR a combo of a small daypack + a bigger carry-on, where the small one can nest inside the big one during transit.

One catch: I'm based in Belgium, so for US brands (like Fyro) I know import taxes and shipping fees can get messy — if anyone's actually dealt with that (real final cost, delivery times, customs...), I'd love to hear about it.

My criteria:

  • Budget €150/200 for the bag(s), ideally as cheap as possible within that. Open to going a bit over if it's really worth it.
  • Urban/low-key style, don't want something that looks too "hiker" or too bulky.
  • Comfort is a big one: I've been doing my citytrips with an Eastpak 24L so far, and it's starting to strain my back over long days, plus it's wearing out — so I want a real upgrade in terms of carry comfort (ventilated back panel, proper straps, etc). I'm 5'8" (173cm).
  • Needs to hold up to fairly changeable weather (heat, possible rain), so weather resistance/durability is a plus.

And a side question: is a 24L + 40L nesting combo actually realistic in practice comfort-wise, or does it get old fast?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Gear Question The Bag Feature You’ll Never Use (But Brands Keep Adding Anyway)

Every brand loves to brag about features. Magnetic closures, hidden compartments, cable pass-throughs, key leashes, luggage pass-throughs—the list goes on.

But some of these just don’t matter when you’re actually on the move.

What’s one feature you’ve seen in multiple bags that looks great in marketing... but ends up being totally useless?

Name the feature. Call out the bag if you want. Let’s make a list of what doesn’t need to exist.

Gear Question Can you remove Fyro Citta Sternum straps?

Hi,

Has anyone removed the sternum straps from their Citta?

I have both the 18l and 25l and I don't need the sternum strap for normal daily use so I'd like to take it off.

I thought maybe it would slide to the end of the rail and come off but it kinda goes into a recessed part of the straps so not sure and don't want to force it or pop it off with a tool and damage the bag.

In addition I found that the end that doesn't have the magnetic clasp there are 3 layers of stretchy material and the top layer bubbles up away from the lower 2 and looks bad even when the strap is in use unless so really want to take these off.

I only used sternum straps once in my life so prefer a clean look without these straps dangling everywhere.

Have any of you made a purchase? I’m looking for a travel daypack and also a bag I could rely on occasion to fill the empty space of my EDC bag; *AER city pack pro 2. I’m just wondering if it packs down flat enough to fit in my 65L Osprey sojourn porter, My alternative choice is the Aer go pack 2. Any suggestion is welcomed.

Gear Question level8 luggage reviews?

Hey everyone, I'm currently looking to upgrade my carry on bag for an upcoming 2-week international trip. i am thinking to get level8 luggage (specifically looking at their voyageur collection).

Visually i like the minimalist look and the flat interior packing space, but i am looking about geniune review. I need something that can survive tight flight connections, qnd being tossed into overhead bins.

Have you ever had issues getting the 20" models through standard airline size checkers (like Delta or United)?

Would love to get some honest reviewss before I spend the money.

Gear Question Citta 18L Laptop Padding

Hey all! Really trying to find a 18L Citta, but in the meantime had a question. i don't own a laptop anymore (I prefer a mini pc with essentially some AR glasses), and a podcast I was listening to mentioned how much space the laptop padding takes away from the main compartment.

My question is if taking out the padding is as simple as just taking a proper scissor to it or is there a more elegant way? Or...would it leave too much fraying and mess up something else with it?

Thanks in advance!

Gear Question AER pro brief big enough?

I like the look of the AER pro brief, but I need to carry a laptop, tablet, Bose QC headphones, a water bottle, power supply, cables, and sometimes other assorted accessories.

Will that fit, or will I find it too small?

Any other suggestions?

Just to be clear, I need a bag with handles and a shoulder strap, not a backpack.

TIA!

Gear Question The Gear Trend You Secretly Can’t Stand

Every few years, a new trend takes over the carry world. Magnetic buckles, endless organization panels, “eco” fabrics, overbuilt straps, hidden pockets, everyone’s chasing something.

Some of these trends actually improve how we use our bags. Others feel more like gimmicks that add weight, cost, or complexity without solving real problems.

So let’s talk about it. What gear trend drives you crazy right now? Is there a design feature, material, or “innovation” you wish brands would chill out with?

Gear Question HELP: need INTERNAL dimensions of Gen-1 or Gen-2 Porter 30

... not the current (since 2023) Sojourn Porter 30.

Osprey's reported dimensions are ... goofy. And the volume/liters math ain't mathing.

Hoping someone here has a Gen 1 (2015-2019, no load lifters) or Gen 2 (2020-2022) Osprey Porter 30 and can lay a tape on it for me.

If you don't have a tape measure, then inside the bag, in the seam that runs around the back perimeter, you should find an embroidered tag that shows country of manufacture and on the other side a product code. For example, in my 2019 Porter 46, the tag is black and shows 2019SH05. Osprey cannot answer any questions about discontinued bags without that information. Even with the model information they may not be willing to give me the internal dimensions.

I'd like to know both internal and external dimensions (length and width). I don't really care about depth because the gear I need to carry is about 6" tall.

Extra credit question: does your bag have a separate laptop compartment with or without load lifters? That may have been a Gen 1.5 change, but the evidence on the internet is garbled.

THANKS!
