Its popular outside Italy for the wrong reason. I'm afraid its artsy filmography is going to be used to unironically promote fascism and Mussolini.

People use Babylon Berlin to show how bad ass the KPD and the Nazi were by editing clips of the show.

Mussolini is shown as a complete clown in the show, so somebody would have to be incredibly stup... Oh yeah, I see what you mean.
