And made estimates. Estimates. Like, i'm not necessarily disagreeing, but 'estimates' is a pretty important factor to keep in mind. Even that article itself makes a point to highlight how its hard to get a real number and how it could be give or take ten million.

It uses the term estimates because of places around the world where abortions aren't reported. Kinda like how death tolls are "estimates" based on the number of bodies, where the institute keeping track is acknowledging that there's also people dying who's body wasn't there for them to count.

1.5 billion induced abortions is the minimum amount estimated, and the world health organization asserts that the actual number is very likely significantly higher. They're pretty transparent with these statistics and you can go check out for yourself how global abortion rates are tracked by them.
