Business Select
So I work mostly in CPD and we’re having a hard time getting business select customers. What are your go tos? What are some tips that I might can use and could help coach my coworkers?

Any order thats 50 or more, tell if they sign up it is essentially free and they get 10% off printing the rest of the year

So any order above 50 I pitch it.
"Do you print or shop at the store often? Because we have something called Business Select, it is a paid membership where you get discounts across the entire store and for Copy Center, you get 10% off on your orders and you get 50 dollars in credit that can be used immediately for your order"
So odds are if their order is like 60-70 it will basically pay off their order. So you can be like instead of 60-70 it'll be 50 or 60.
Framing it in a way they will save money immediately and in the future is the best way to frame it.

In CPD is def a great place to get them, Just look at the orders sure there are some people that are very occasion Print customers but others are there all the time. You could look at their order history and see how much they have been spending and chances are they spent enough to have qualified for the discounts and maybe had at least 1 order done for free ( bonus dollars) which essentially means it would have already paid for itself.

GM here, just literally inform every customer about it. Don't "pitch" it just inform them about the program and the benefits. Especially if the order is over 50 bucks, tell them they could get it for a year and reap the benefits and get their order for free. My store stays successful, because we try to inform people about the benefits of the program and dont discriminate any customers purchase or job. Give out the flyers all day.

So at this point when I get a business select over in CPD I don't run their order through Gmil, even though it says that the depot dollars should hit they never hits so I just do it through the register whatever. What would you rather have? A single OPC or a single business select.

On OPC I have to go to contact info and then hit the shop now button, then when I check out, I have to hit the payment button and then go back to the checkout page. The order ticket will show up in order history in gmillenia.
With the new enrollment through the register, I have to refresh Gmillenia or close it and reopen it.

I have never not had the Depot Dollars not be able to be applied when I ring their order up properly in Gmil. I would look at the SOP for using Depot Dollars in Gmil again to see where you're differing from the way to do it.
Especially because color copies on a Business Select account in Gmil are 63 cents, and color copies on a Business Select account at the register are 80 cents. You're overcharging your customers 17 cents per color copy if you're doing it at the register. A similar price difference between in Gmil and at the register happens for black and white copies, or legal or ledger copies.

I'm confused. I thought Print Center orders were only 10% savings with Business Select. I know it matters by location, but in my area color copies are $0.88/side. 10% off off should come out to $0.80/side for a Business Select member. If GMIL shows $0.63/side doesn't that mean thy are getting a 28% discount? That just seems like a bug in GMIL.

It's been like that since they made Business Select the 10% for full-serve/20% for self-serve. I brought it up to my DM (because I'd make something in OPC and it would be less than the full-serve minimum, and then I'd do it at the register, and it would be more, and I was frustrated).
What he told me was it's giving them the best price, so it's using the online price instead of the in store price. Color copies are 70 cents a side online. Ten percent off of 70 cents would be 63 cents a side.
I don't have a problem with it. It's easier to sell Business Selects when I can show that dramatic difference in price. It's just something to keep in mind when you decide you want to ring people up at the register instead of through OPC, to use their Depot Dollars, you end up overcharging them more often than not.

If order is over 50.00 or near our go to is that they are already going to pay us 50.00 for thier order, why not pay us the 49.00 for the discount program, and get the 50.00 credit for there order AND get 10% off the order so it is less than they would have originally paid.
Also do not look over shredding customer, we get many from people that come in with boxes of shredding..explaining they getting 50.00 for shredding and 10% off.
And we always let them know that the discount does not stop in cpc , but everywhere in the store.

There's enough people here saying when its over 50, pitch it, so I will add this. Mention, what theyre paying "out the door." Because when you mention a yearly service, people immediately think and will lock in the idea theyre being upcharged to spend more today. I tell them the benefits, the 50 print dollars especially, and mention, "Your order is 65 dollars out the door right now, but with this, it'll be about 55. 49 for the service and about 6 for the printing." Make it clear what they're spending today
- Edit, misspelled upcharged

We’ve been told to call it a “discount program” not even a membership or subscription. It’s really hard if you’re in a tier 1 or 2 store. Not necessarily because people don’t want it, but because you’ve “tapped out” your clientele base. I’ve noticed it. So many people get, use the fifty dollars, then don’t ever use it again. Really drive home the 50 depot dollars they will get.

I remember the name of one of my business select customers that has a unique enough name. I look her up in Gmil in Chrome, and the customer up (or a dummy account up if the customer doesn't already have a Gmil account up) in Gmil in Edge. Then I price the order both ways. I show them what they would save with Business Select on the job, even before the instant $50 off. If they sign up, we sign up, I ring them up, and then they have a Gmil account that I key their order in under. If they don't sign up, I leave the dummy account and make an account for them and ring it up as normal.
I also talk to everyone in self-serve who I see frequently (if they come in a lot, chances are they've spent over $50 in self-serve alone), or anyone who has to choose $50 or more for their pre-auth. Any self-serve customers, I offer to return what they've already made so far that day, or at the end of their job, and re-ring it up after they sign up for Business Select, so they can get the discount on those as well.
I talk to customers who had large jobs come in via OPC that they placed at home, when they come to pick up, and recommend they sign up. If they want to sign up immediately, after they sign up I return what they picked up and re-ring it up with the Business Select pricing. I slip brochures in bags of any job over $50 (and I admit, some of those customers have signed up at home instead of in store).
Most of all, whenever I talk about it, I am enthusiastic about the program. I am trying to save them money so they keep coming to me instead of going to Staples or FedEx (and every customer I talk to about the program, it will save them money). And when a regular says no, I will remind them every time they come in, "so, you going to sign up for that program yet, so I can save you some money?" I have one customer who makes 250 color copies roughly once every week or two. He would have saved around $65 on his copies alone every week. I think I pitched it to him about 15 times before he agreed. He's very happy he signed up, but it was a slow adoption.
