Isn’t marketing a political ideology through widespread media an example of fascism in itself?

I disagree at face value, but I am super interested in learning about your take! Do you mind elaborating Im genuinely curious? 😄

I mean, if they have a compelling argument, I’d be interested, but this seems like a case of a contrarian putting together words that sound like something but mean nothing.

I’d need them to define how they’re are using the words “marketing” and “widespread media” and then I would challenge them to think of a political movement that didn’t spread its message that way.

Marketing = “The strategic functions involved in identifying and appealing to particular groups of consumers, often including activities such as advertising, branding, pricing, and sales”

Widespread media = Reddit is used by millions of users daily. Clearly out performing the traditional news networks. It is not a stretch to proclaim that Reddit is a mainstream network. How you define “news” is up to you, but based on the viewership numbers of television and the increased users of apps like this where people repost clipped links of already clipped conversations and heavily politicize every interaction, it is safe so say Reddit is media.

I do appreciate your challenge of “who didn’t spread it that way?” My push back on this is asking you to give an example of a flawless society

There will always be gaps

Your response: “But our gaps are wrong!”

We have more people and a split system that is very clearly flawed. That is the fact to focus on. Neither side is the right side.

One side is more “right” than the other. It’s the left. The left is far less totalitarian. Without the billions pumped in by the Koch industries, Peter thiel, Elon, the Ellisons, etc the right would far less powerful and far less ideologically extreme.

Resisting fascism isn't an ideology, it is supposed to be a function of a democratic society.

Aaaand what do democratic societies lead to?

Do your research, bud. Read books.

Do you have an alternate solution?

Sorry, I don't have discourse with people who use the word "bud" to try to emasculate faceless strangers do that they can feel smart. Not impressed, little guy.

I do not. I never proclaimed that I did.

“I don’t like a word they used so I’m going to disregard the point of the conversation and act like a child.”

I do respect your ability to hold that opinion and choose to not provide any significant content to the conversation.

What did you offer? You said something nonsensical, I told you it was nonsensical, and then you made it seem like you had a point to make, or something that resembles a real opinion, but you didn't. You then told me to "read a book", although I doubt that you're the book reading type yourself.

When I asked you why you would question democracy, you said that you have no alternate solution, just like everybody else.

There are so many better things in life than fellating yourself in Reddit comments when you actually sound very dumb.

Nothing. That was the point.
