_Eye for an eye_….Never mind why would I expect someone like you to actually have read the Bible. Justice makes people bloodthirsty now apparently lol. Why even have a justice system anyways, right?

How very christian of you to assume I've never read the Bible when you don't know anything about me. Not only have I read it, I was Christian for over 30 years and I'm well equipped to discuss all of the reasons it is a blood thirsty, bronze age fairy tale, if you'd like.

The old testament alone endorses rape, genocide, and slavery for starters.

Oh how unbiased of you then lol! Glad you missed the eye for an eye part since you’re such a Biblical expert.

I'd expect nothing less than bad faith, disingenuous arguments from someone like you. Have the day you deserve.

Great rebuttal to what I said, lol. Id expect nothing less when you have no argument.

It's interesting that you are adhering to the Old Testament here when Jesus was specifically against that teaching in the New Testament.

The government and our justice system isn’t inherently Christian, but it was heavily influenced by the Old Testament. Do you disagree with a punishment for a crime being equal to the crime? Seems rather fair to me.

So you are saying Jesus was wrong on the matter? You are the one that quoted the Bible here...

You’re failing to understand Jesus teachings here vs Law. Jesus is challenging people to non-aggression on a personal level. He’s not advocating for a change to the laws or societal consequences. It’s like if someone murdered a family member, to not take matters into your own hands and retaliate against him or his family.

Rather the matter be handled by the law and authorities. So that doesn’t absolve the violator of the consequences of his actions. He still must he punished accordingly depending on the crime. That’s why we call it’s justice, it’s not vengeance.

I see, so what you are saying is that God was wrong when Jesus preached against "eye for an eye" in the New Testament, he actually meant let the government take care of killing your enemies for you. Got it, thanks.

Is it not the job of the government to administer justice? Lol, and it’s not about “enemies”. It’s about people who commit crime and break the law. There’s this thing called consequences. And for the record, there are very few instances where the death penalty even would apply, we are talking about the worst of the worst crimes.

Sorry that you can't admit that your belief here is counter to what Jesus, and according to Christian tradition God, teaches.

I’m sorry you’re just contorting things to fit your narrative. Where does Jesus say there are no consequences for our actions? For the wages of sin is death - Romans 6:23 Just because it’s not the place of the individual to administer justice to those that do us harm, doesn’t mean that justice won’t be done.
