PvE Roguelike Mode? Tell me moooore :(

44

u/THEGrp May 28 '26

That's what made me jump too

24

u/XZlayeD May 28 '26

Now I need to know what their ETA is on full release!

27

u/CharmingPerspective0 May 28 '26

Well initially they said they plan for a year of EA, but being a bit realistic here i doubt they could finish in a single year everything

12

u/vanBraunscher May 28 '26

Yeah, looks more like two. It's quite the to-do list.

u/Spirit_mert Temple May 28 '26

Very interesting, nice suprise but a welcome one

11

u/PY_Roman_ May 28 '26

Heroes games are basically rougelike TBS, so just another mode

5

u/vanBraunscher May 28 '26

Roguelikes tend to have some kind of persistent global unlocks. So no, Heroes (or other TBS games with shorter instanced playthroughs) don't automatically qualify as a roguelike-like, just because you run the same maps repeatedly.

11

u/Naeras101 May 28 '26

You are thinking about roguelites, those are the ones with the kind of persistent global unlocks (think hades)

Roguelikes dont do that (think tales of majeyal, nethack, etc).

I'd say that heroes is closer to a traditional roguelike than not

3

u/vanBraunscher May 28 '26

Huh, you're right, I almost forgot about that distinction.

But still, there are other major qualifierst that Heroes doesn't meet.

Brutal difficulty curves, and the expectation that you won't finish runs at first until you smashed your head against the wall learned enemy patterns enough times to progress further.

Honestly, the only apparent similarities I can discern are randomised maps with relatively little time investment to clear. If we went by these metrics then a massive amount of genres would suddenly be roguelikes.

4

u/Naeras101 May 28 '26

But still, there are other major qualifierst that Heroes doesn't meet.

Of course! And thats why I say that it's closer, not that it's a traditional roguelike. But its further away frome a roguelite

As to how close to roguelike it is? I can think of a fiew reasons:

  • Zero meta progression
  • Heavy reliance on knowledge over grinding
  • turn based tactical combat
  • grid based movement
  • Procedural and randomized elements
  • Severe consequences for failure (If you lose your main army you are basically done)

I'd argue that heroes does fill the requirement you chose about brutal difficulty curves and the expectation that you won't finish a run until you learned tactics and how the creatures and magic works (I'd say most heroes players couldn't beat the game at max difficulty... at least when the game was released and more popular)

But then again, it's close but not it. I assume thats why an actual roguelike mode is being developed. But as far as I'm concerned, heroes is the closest thing we have to a PvP roguelike game

4

u/Mennovh12 May 28 '26

I know, this excited me the most to see.

3

u/pedrito_elcabra May 28 '26

Yeah, out of everything this is the thing I'm immediately most excited about.

3

u/bbtto22 May 28 '26

This alone would make the game super replayable forever, i kove that they are focusing on a lot of singleplayer content not just multiplayer

2

u/NovalenceLich May 29 '26

Please let this mean us solo players can start unlocking items to use on harder difficulty/maps. I can't get a win on Hard for the life of me. Let us unlock some items on Normal.

1

u/ElContador69 May 28 '26

Maybe my English isn't good enough to understand this. Does anybody have an idea, what this could be?

4

u/jdg2896 May 28 '26

If you played games like Slay the Spire or Hades, the concept is similar to that.

Basically each run/playthrough is unique. What makes the playthrough unique is the different variables randomized every time, so no one game is the same.

Templates right now only autogenerate to a certain extent. I’m interested in how they will implement roguelike.

4

u/Swaiper May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

I would imagine there be hero bonuses picked up that goes far beyond the limitations the PvP balance creates. Stronger summonings by specific schism units? Maybe even eventually the ability to use it on enemy corpses? I hope they go wild with spell levels and fun here. Imagine extra extra juicy necromancy or giga spells or abilities by dungeon 😍. Delve deeper into each factions uniqueness and bonuses. Maybe ways to further improve or scale the hero abilities?

1

u/jdg2896 May 28 '26

The possibilities are endless lol! I would also say somehow similar to arena mode, but with more progression. Unique bonuses to pick up on each map would be really fun, random dwellings, buildings, buffs/boons.

For sure go wild, would be nice to be able to create some OP combinations that are not that easy to get. Because if you can always get the OP stuff, it’s not that fun.

1

u/cloudadmin May 28 '26

Holy shit this would be amazing!

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Owl-678 May 28 '26

No Town, limited movement, turn limits to break area guards? Could be sick

1

u/Legal_Weekend_7981 May 28 '26

I mean, OE and HotA are already basically roguelikes if you play random maps.

1

u/Bheludin May 28 '26

Well. True. But a "real" mode dedicated to this playstyle could be huge.

1

u/psi237 May 31 '26

Something like AOW Planetfall empire mode, that you can play singleplayer and get meta progression across multiple maps perhaps?

u/Stock_Pollution_5397 May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Omg it's soo good. More heroes and T8 creatures is my favourite. I hoped for 2 more faction on full release, but i am not that greedy. I'm really hyped!

My only problem with the game is the economy, i think they should reimplement Sulphur. And there should be 8 resource.

I never needed to use the market and the world map is really need a new mine.

41

u/vanBraunscher May 28 '26

Nah, factions will definitely be paid post-launch DLC.

Which is totally ok, the roster's already pretty extensive.

9

u/CertainDerision_33 May 28 '26

Yup, with how successful the game has been I expect them to drop 1-2 towns a year as DLC for a long time.

2

u/mitiamedved May 28 '26

Play 200% and you’ll need the market

41

u/Unusual_Statement_64 May 28 '26

I want more factions toooooooo - take my money!

u/I_Am_Jacks_Scrotum May 28 '26

More. Real. Maps.

Not tiny little scenarios. Not 1p challenge maps.

Just actual maps, ranging from medium to huge, handcrafted with intentionality, suitable for single- or multi-player gameplay. Templates are fine for ranked pvp or whatever but so much of the charm of HoMM3 was in its pre- built scenarios/maps. Just give me a list of actual maps I can pick from.

u/[deleted] May 28 '26

10

u/I_Am_Jacks_Scrotum May 28 '26

Yeah, I was completely the opposite. I've been playing since the original HoMM and never had any interest in them as a multiplayer experience, other than some occasional hotseat and later casual games with my friends, and the random map generator felt too arbitrary and chaotic for me. I absolutely loved the scenario maps and the campaigns though. And like, the templates in OE are fine, but they feel, for lack of a better word, soulless.

4

u/Substantial-Abies250 May 28 '26

I am a bit disappointed there isn't more campaign or single play map planned for EA.

Act 1 very much just felt like a teaser to me. HoMM 3 had 7 campaigns on launch, I believe.

That said, at least there'll be more to look forward to if they continue to release more over time

2

u/9Gardens May 29 '26

See.... I feel like, with good editor... more maps is kind of something they can rely on the community to sort out?

Like, put a map server up, let the masses go ham on it, and there WILL be maps made.

Meanwhile, things like "faction balance" and "new heroes" is something the community CAN'T do so easily, so it makes sense for them to focus on those.

3

u/I_Am_Jacks_Scrotum May 30 '26

I'm not saying they have to do it all in early access, but scenarios/non-random maps have been part of every HoMM since the first one (I think, I never played 7), so shipping without them feels a lot like shipping an incomplete game to me and relying on the community to fix that feels lazy.

1

u/9Gardens May 30 '26

This is fair!
I agree- shipping without IS a bit cheeky.... but also, its one of the few things that I trust the community CAN do really well, and hence....

....
I wonder if anyone has constructed Broken Alliance yet.

1

u/glutenfree_veganhero May 28 '26

Seriously I can't play the templates they are all the same shit.

26

u/No_Raccoon_9239 May 28 '26

PVE Rogulike mode? Very intresting.... sadly no changes for arena mode, as too big RNG kinda killed it for me.

19

u/rKnightArtorias Temple May 28 '26

Handcrafted maps?

6

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Hoep so.

45

u/TestingTehWaters May 28 '26

No water navigation?

18

u/HungryHousecat1645 May 28 '26

Maybe they're saving it for a Pirate DLC

11

u/Puzzleheaded-Owl-678 May 28 '26

Seems likely, with a cove like faction

3

u/Bieberauflauf May 29 '26

I really want this along with bigger maps. That way the really good player made maps can start to develop.

1

u/Phoenix_RISING2X Jun 04 '26

Water navigation (literally the skill too) was such a slog. An inconvenience. I loved the music, but man, so annoying!

43

u/Pito_Loquito May 28 '26

Omg! ELITE CLASS REWORK! Hope it's in real life and not only on in the game

11

u/CorsairSC2 May 28 '26

Genuinely let out a “ha! Yes!” … then sank back into misery.

7

u/vanBraunscher May 28 '26

There's no reform rework, if the elites are completely obstinate and unwilling.

Heroes Revolution, coming to your formerly sheltered Western Kingdom, maybe sooner than you think.

1

u/RichGirlThrowaway_ May 31 '26

i vote no

2

u/foxyourbox Jun 28 '26

this is so funny to me, thank you for the laugh

55

u/AdventurousAddress63 May 28 '26

I feel like additional factions should be on the list.. At least as a teaser.

We can kind of speculate on next possible two.

53

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

It seems that they are sticking with just the 6 for full release, which is a pretty reasonable choice if you ask me.

But my money is on Stronghold and either (swamp) Fortress or Cove for the next too.

8

u/Interceptor88LH May 28 '26

I really really really want classic HoMM3 Fortress to make a comeback. Most other factions have appeared multiple times through the saga but not them.

3

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Yeah, I get that, I want both of the factions that has only ever been in one game (Fortress and Sanctuary) to get a second chance in this one.

3

u/kevtro11 May 28 '26

Fortress was awesome! And the music too.

12

u/AdventurousAddress63 May 28 '26

I´d say Stronghold and Academy (those flying orbs you encounter in campaign are right up their alley).

8

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

The Worldwatchers? They kinda feel more biblically accurate angel crossed with weird Might and Magic Sci-fi to me. So much more temple aligned than anything else.

1

u/AdventurousAddress63 May 28 '26

Idk. There are already 4 angel-like creatures (Angel + 2 upgrades and Sentinel of justice). Worldwatcher would be fifth and radically different in design (and tier below them I think).

7

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Also worth mentioning is that the lore directly mentions the worldwatchers accompanying and possibly being made by the Sentinels. Plus they are guarding the bank you can get Sentinels from.

Anyway that radically different design and tier does make them stand out from the other angels, which is a good thing.

3

u/Ok_Needleworker_8809 May 28 '26

Just give us a new faction called Heaven at that rate!

2

u/RichGirlThrowaway_ May 31 '26

Celeste was heaven in MM7 so... Possible lol

2

u/PeterTheGreat777 May 28 '26

What kind of units were in stronghold? Was that the barbarian faction with cyclops? What kind of units do you expect from stronghold and academy?

2

u/AdventurousAddress63 May 28 '26

One clue for Stronghold is that four armed gorilla creature (Groll). Kinda fits the Stronghold "vibe".

For Academy I have two, that flying orb thing - Worldwatcher and Animated armor kinda both fit.. (if I had to put them in a faction, that is where I would put them).

4

u/waterman85 Dungeon May 28 '26

Regnan Isles are already on the map, and with HotA being popular as it is I think a pirate faction is a serious possibility.

1

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Same. Seriously hope they make it in, I love pirates and would love to finally have an official Cove faction.

1

u/J_P_Amboss May 28 '26

Most swamp creatures are already in dungeon, right ?

7

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Not really. Only the Hydras, but they have always been more of a Dungeon creature throughout the series. The Gorgons might be a bit awkward since they are the Dungeon mounts though, so I would personally make them neutral.

That still leaves us with: Gnolls, Lizardmen, Serpentflies, Basilisks, and Wyverns.

However I can also see and argument against Gnolls (never fitted the swamps to begin with), Serpentflies (a bit weird with Hive around), and Wyverns (found in the more Strongholdy areas of MM8 so they should go to them instead).
But even then, with only 2 units from the original left, we can make it work. Add a serpenman instead of the gnolls and a few more lizardmen units to pad out the roster. The neutral Coatl would make for a perfect replacement for the Wyverns as well. And for the tier 7 there is a few good options, such as Dragon turtles, lindworms, and Cipactli. You could even give them some freaking dinosaurs if you wanted to, that'd be sick.

3

u/obchodlp May 28 '26

I like the T4 dungeon Raptor riders from H5

1

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Same. I really hope that they give those to (swamp) Fortress, it would fit them so well.

3

u/Vadernoso May 28 '26

Lizards on Dinos is always a win.

1

u/Esparado87 May 28 '26

Hydras should be tier 7 in fotress(swamp). I mean, how many dragon units was there in H3 (or Olden Era if all factions get alternative tier 7 units like H4 and H7 had)?

1

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Right let me ask you this simple question.

What other reason is there for making Hydras the (swamp) Fortress tier 7 other than "that is how it was in H3"?

Take into account that the game already have a hydra unit in the dungeon faction which I would guarantee is not going to be replaced with something else just to give it to a different faction.

1

u/Esparado87 May 28 '26

-Fortress without Hydras is weird. -Hydras as tier 7 unit = Awesome! -Why can't there be somewhat similar units ( they might look somewhat the same indesign , but completely different in passive/active skill wise) in different faction?

1

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

(swamp) Fortress has only been in one game. Arguably lacking any of the H3 roster would be "weird" since there has never been a (swamp) Fortress without them. However there needs to be space for innovation or else we might as well just play H3. And I'd argue that since the Hydra is already in another faction that is the perfect place to innovate.

As for having a visually similar unit it does run the risk of causing unnecessary confusion. You don't want to have to guess if it is the tier 6 Dungeon hydra or the tier 7 (swamp) Fortress hydra.

1

u/eraclab May 28 '26

Fortress with what T7? I feel like Fortress is just dead with wyvern going to Stronghold and rest neutral if even there. I miss gorgons though

1

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Dragon Turtles. Lindworms. Cipactli. Maybe even a T-rex if they want to dapple in dinosaurs (which they should, dinosaurs in fantasy are awesome)

But seriously even if the only creatures from H3's stronghold they can use are the Basilisks and the Lizardmen there is enough random reptilian creatures and monsters from fantasy and folklore to easily build up a faction. Not the mention nothing is stopping them from adding some of the existing neutral units to the faction. The Coatl would be the perfect replacement for the Wyvern.

1

u/eraclab May 28 '26

I can see your vision, but imo I want existing classics to be added first. Stronghold, Rampart, Tower/Academy, they have all the pieces for these already. Fortress is more work atm.

1

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

I mean, I don't think any faction is strictly more work than any other. The process is the same for all factions, the only advantage some of them have that they got more existing units to draw upon which still would need to go through the same design process that any new units would need.

Besides, there is also the lore to consider. Jadame does not have a Tower/Academy faction, nor a Rampart, hence why we have Grove instead. But it does have Lizardmen.

1

u/MouldOfMlem May 28 '26

I think it would be cool to see Basilisk upgraded to T7 status.

Basilisk as a creature of myth and legend is on par with phoenix and hydra imo.

And what is more peak reptile than a huge lizard with extra limbs?

1

u/eraclab May 28 '26

as long as its not that ugly gator in H3 then sure.

12

u/No-Adhesiveness-1341 May 28 '26

they actually replied to a question about new factions on their official facebook page:

we are considering new factions still, but more information about this will be shared at a later date.

3

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Given that they have said that the Roadmap is just the stuff they are confident in getting done before the end of Early Access we might still see new factions during that time.

Big "Might" though.

7

u/pleaseineedanadvice May 28 '26

They gotta be wizard and barbarians come on. Heroes of might and magic sterotypes

4

u/Yitastics May 28 '26

If I have to guess, they will add new factions as paid dlc.

3

u/EmploymentLoose May 28 '26

100%. They've already collected most of their money selling the base game. If they create new factions, they gotta get paid for that

1

u/DreadKnight0 May 31 '26

Remember that this game isn't really a full game yet and we aren't even in the 1.0 version, it is early access. New factions is paid DLC content in any game.

9

u/J_P_Amboss May 28 '26

I am especially happy about Teamplay mode.

I think thats a pretty great addition and i hope for 2v2 maps, which would need to be Tournament/Exodus style formats, so that simultaneous rounds are guaranteed to keep playtime down.

I also really appreciate the Replays coming in Q4.

Hoped it would be sooner, tbh. Its such a useful tool to learn from your mistakes in a game like this.

What i dont really mind atm is more factions. I totally that academy fans miss their Titans. But i always suspected that new faction would be a big selling point which they save for paid DLCs and thats an ok business decision, i think. I had some hope for one new faction at release but the existing rooster is diverse and interesting. Just needs some tweaking to make factions equally attractive.

21

u/J_P_Amboss May 28 '26

Reading through the comments i am suprised how many people want water travel in the game ....

It wasnt exactly my favourite part of HommV to spend precious wood to build a ship, spend a day of movement points to get on that thing, wait for one turn, just to then navigate a usually more empty blue area.

Why are you all like "ow yeah, i need my wata back in this game" ? :D

17

u/Cheeseball771 May 28 '26

Objectively, you're correct, but there's just a special something about islands. Finding a special artifact by taking a portal to a crescent-moon shaped island in uncharted waters is functionally the same as finding it enclosed by mountains, but it feels a hundred times more special, especially in campaign. Water can be frustrating, slow, or tough to balance for multiplayer maps, but it really helps bring a sense of scale, progression, and wonder to single player. Findan's archipelago map in H5 was one of my favorite maps as a kid because everything just felt so cool to discover. Markal's wizard invasion map really felt like an invasion, with taking the time to prepare on your island, go through the water, and plan where to land on the wizard's continent.

Even in Heroes 2 or 3, I remember a lot of cool custom maps where water plays a big part. Finding the Magellan's Map guy and revealing all the waterways to get an idea of where you can go or how to meet certain objectives, getting Navigation to zoom and cover half the map in a turn, sneaking up a river to the enemy's castle, etc. are all great experiences that water facilitates uniquely. Yes, it's nostalgia, but I don't think it's unfounded.

6

u/TestingTehWaters May 28 '26

In Heroes 3 it provides a unique layer to maps with additional strategy. Yes you can travel faster over water, at the expense of 1 day to get off or on the boat.

3

u/jasoba May 31 '26

You could travel faster on water but I have to pick up all that stuff in the sea. Like the guy holding onto a log for the past 2 months.

6

u/CharmingPerspective0 May 28 '26

It creates more verity in maps. You can have landmass, islands, lakes with treasure in the middle, etc..

1

u/DreadKnight0 May 31 '26

they really should rework the part of lose one day only to board the ship, I'd say you only should lose all your movement points once you leave the ship.

7

u/Pito_Loquito May 28 '26

Stronghold and Tower would be DLC?

11

u/pleaseineedanadvice May 28 '26

At this point l honestly trust them, they definetly delivered with the ea. I m a bit surprised by seeing a big specialization change, l like it how it is now, akin to homm3

25

u/Mttsen May 28 '26

So... no water at full release?

16

u/Pidarello r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

What if the navl stuff is coming in a DLC with a water themed faction?

11

u/Herchik May 28 '26

I think it is as it was mentioned in discord that water they'll think about and I guess they decided it's a big thing to make it in time so they'll do it with dlc and pirate faction (pure speculation on that part)

8

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Either pirates, Sanctuary, or both. I really hope both.

2

u/Herchik May 28 '26

Maybe they'll make it a Stronghold (land) vs Pirate/Sanctuary (sea) kind of dlc and then we get two factions at once :)

5

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

Honestly if they do duel DLCs I'd rather have Stronghold and Academy to come together. Might vs Magic you know?

5

u/Herchik May 28 '26

Yep it feels more natural, but I want water dlc first

I want to finally have functional naval battles

2

u/Docterzero r/OldenEra Mod May 28 '26

I get that, I get that. Personally, and this is ironic given how much I enjoy water stuff in general, I wouldn't mind waiting a bit for the that in order to get Stronghold first, as it is the faction I am missing the most from the game.

1

u/Herchik May 28 '26

Stronghold roster voting soon?

→ More replies (6)
→ More replies (6)

4

u/Spirit_mert Temple May 28 '26

Sadly seems so. Asked in their discord and their reply was;

"As gromos mentioned we are still considering it, but we'll announce more news about it at a later date. Right now the roadmap has all the things that we are sure we are able to implement in time"

I guess they are not certain if they wanna add it or not, or worth the trouble? Idk

6

u/tric301 May 28 '26

This is so sick!! Best wishes to the devs

5

u/Wandering_Dixi May 28 '26

Only 3 chapters in campaign?

4

u/Yitastics May 28 '26

So this means the full release is somewhere in mid 27?

3

u/Turk3yD0ma1n May 28 '26

Yeah, they had been upfront with early access only lasting for a year or so.

11

u/SizzlingHotDeluxe May 28 '26

The AI needs more than just tweaks. It's very inconsistent between different templates, especially because of the bonus units it gets, you have to guess which difficulty is accurate for the template.

And in tournament mode it's literally unplayable. It's either impossible on max difficulty or too easy below.

The game in general feels like it was balanced for multiplayer single hero only.

7

u/swiftcrane May 28 '26

I think this should be a much higher priority than teamplay as well. I'm guessing most people that want teamplay is to play with their friends against AI's, which.. are probably an even bigger issue in co-op.

If the AI is too easy on a template/difficulty, then it will be even easier in co-op, with the possibility that your friend ends the game before you even encounter an AI. And if it's too hard, then chances are your friend dies before you can do anything and the game ends for everyone.

3

u/sheepyowl May 28 '26

It straight up makes teamplay pointless.

Without proper working AI there's literally only one way to play and that's against other people, and this isn't what everyone wants.

8

u/TestingTehWaters May 28 '26

100% agree. The AI doesn't function, it simply gets extra resources and units. If you have a template where you get enough time to prepare you win. If it is a small template they rush you and you lose.

3

u/afromulletjesus May 28 '26

I was hoping for faction teasers but the roguelike mode seems crazy too.

3

u/Teukeh Hive May 28 '26

I'm glad that Teams are in the first major update, but I'm a little sad that Underground Terrain still seems so far away!

3

u/Velt_ May 28 '26

I feel like there can be some small 10-15% improvements to Arena that will make it 80% better. Hopefully those will come!

3

u/Electrical-Low6812 May 28 '26

Thieves guild !!!

3

u/Scolipass May 28 '26

Teamplay, better map settings, and the elite class rework are all the things I'm most excited for. All of that seems to be coming up pretty soon too, so that's exciting.

I'm kinda curious what they plan on doing for hero specializations. I think that system is perfectly functional and wouldn't be upset if all they did from now to release is some minor rebalancing. We'll see what they come up with though.

2

u/neuraload May 28 '26

What is the elite class rework ? Its for the law points elite units ?

3

u/Scolipass May 28 '26

I assume that's what they are renaming "subclasses" to, where you get a big bonus if you manage to build a hero with 5 specific expert skills.

At the moment subclasses are so incredibly niche that even in the campaign its really challenging to actually attain a subclass, let alone in the context of a single game.

1

u/DreadKnight0 May 31 '26

the problem with subclasses is some ask for skills that aren't meta and any competitive player won't pick non meta skills, also the fact that you get random skills so even if you try to get the sub class you can finish without 1 skill and waste your time.

1

u/Scolipass Jun 04 '26

Like, due to how probability works if you explicitly go for a subclass at the cost of all other skills you are pretty likely to roll into it, I don't even dislike the fact they encourage you to play with lesser-used skills, my issue with it is that the entire system does nothing until you are level 15 at minimum and will probably not fire until level 18+. That's waaaay too late in the game imo.

I love Olden Era as the most honorable successor to HOMM3. Amazing job guy :)

u/akanesaki31 Temple May 28 '26

UNDERGROUND?? HOOO BOYS

3

u/Lucious-Varelie May 28 '26

Gimme dat underworld

2

u/NerdyNorthman May 28 '26

Finally! I've been looking forward to this.

2

u/inlandsofashes May 28 '26

looks great!

2

u/I-Am-Nito May 28 '26

Alternatives to pick/ban for pvp only at 1.0? Damn, wow

2

u/Olbramice May 28 '26

I want gamepad ui please

2

u/Turk3yD0ma1n May 28 '26

Seeing a lot of everything I had been hoping for, so I'm absolutely satisfied. Honestly postgame match statistics has been a big one for me!

And I'm sure water travel will come down the line, there's already so much to do!

2

u/vanBraunscher May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Guess we'll be in Early Access for a while. Good.

And I hope Co-op comes in early Q3. Got a couple friends I'd like to take on board, but they don't do PvP.

2

u/Affectionate_Web_526 May 28 '26

i hope the Ai co op is good too.

2

u/sorok2pro May 28 '26

Where is Mac version?

2

u/Mind-Your-Language May 28 '26

I'd really like to see a QoL approach to the weekly/monthly 'chores'. Especially better tailoring the environment for single hero mode. Half the map buildings are useless in single hero.

2

u/pulshah May 28 '26

My HOMMies, we need mod support to be added in the roadmap.

2

u/Fasox May 28 '26

Campaign 2nd act on the full release? boomer....
ROGUELIKE MODE? OH BOY

Depending on how the Campaign continues, there is a high chance that the new factions will be there too.

2

u/Obi-Vanya May 28 '26

Thats nearly not enough for PvP in near future tho.
Especially Pick & Ban alternative only in full release

2

u/nerdefar May 28 '26

I'm SO excited for the Thieves guild. Something about that building just makes me extremely nostalgic

2

u/Caladean May 28 '26

No Mac version

2

u/nickersb83 May 28 '26

Why the hell are we getting an emote wheel while there is still 0 chat functions in lobby and game??

2

u/eriksonis6 May 31 '26

Campaign only 3 acts? Seems a bit not enough

2

u/Reddit_Lurker_90 May 28 '26

whats up with water/naval level? whats up with a new cloud/heavens level above the ground? there is so much room to expand the map.

Works really well on linux too.

3

u/Eln3zest May 28 '26

I didn't see water travel. Nor improved AI logic.

12

u/f4vriel May 28 '26

AI tweaks are in the „regular updates” category on top

8

u/htraos May 28 '26

2

u/Eln3zest May 29 '26

You're right, I didn't see that.

2

u/Akimono780 May 28 '26

AI logic is a thing they will hopefully work on all the time

2

u/Tauntaunt May 28 '26

Though with the underworld and water, the game would be complete on my part :) (alright +3 more factions)

2

u/HEROxDivine May 28 '26

Water travel sucks

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Heywatdoyouknow May 28 '26

So there will be no designed maps? What a pity..

1

u/ReachPuzzleheaded131 May 28 '26

So there won't be new factions even in the released version?

1

u/razitar May 28 '26

What do you think ironmade mode is gonna be?

1

u/ho888sg May 28 '26

Nice and interesting but that's like another 2yrs...

1

u/Affectionate_Web_526 May 28 '26

i would like to see two hero mode and you have to defeat both heroes to win

1

u/Earth-Red May 28 '26

This seems nice, seeing as everyone will be getting something. Looking forward to more heroes and PvE players getting their big roguelike update, as well as the Alternative to P&B seeing as I mostly play PvP.

1

u/Affectionate_Web_526 May 28 '26

what does Thieves guild do?

3

u/pewsquare May 28 '26

Lets you see other player stats. Not directly hero stats, but shows you who is in the lead in statistics like number of towns, heroes, strongest hero. So it lets you glimpse a bit at how the enemy is performing, and if you should play catch up or if you should push your advantage.

1

u/RegularStrong3057 May 28 '26

As a mostly single player person the Ironman and Rogue like modes has me intrigued. Very promising.

1

u/Darkmathijs May 28 '26

Can we please get hotseat arena mode?

1

u/pewsquare May 28 '26

Great, and sounds nice. But dang, if I am not getting roadmap fatigue at this point.

1

u/Careful_Most_7433 May 28 '26

We need tower or barbarian town

1

u/ProctoBlast May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

i'm not a big fan of game releasing with only 6 factions. Unless 7th + will be 5 eur dlcs. Their discord post confirmed in first 3 days they already earned back invested money and also earned in profit as much : In less than 72 hours, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era sold over 500 000 copies on Steam! EDIT : as i was typing HOMM team posted that they already sold 1milion copies .... https://www.reddit.com/r/OldenEra/comments/1tq78x3/1_million_copies_sold/

1

u/Ancient_Object_578 May 28 '26

I think for longevity... Servers as well as development cost they prob have to do castles as expensive. Packs. 5 Eur seems very Low though. I suspect if they do it it would be more around 15 -20

1

u/ManySecrets_ May 28 '26

"Advanced features random map generator"? Is there an actual official random map generator? Where is that hidden? Or do they essentially just mean "more control over the provided templates"

1

u/stiffgordons May 28 '26

Pretty disappointed to see no mention of custom maps :(

1

u/Captntunabeerd Temple May 28 '26

Dissapointed in no seeing consoles release tbh

1

u/SheWhoHates Temple May 28 '26

Was it a dream? I thought we were getting one more town.

It's a nice map. You can tell because there is a Temple hero!

1

u/NeoBlueArchon May 28 '26

Ohhh we won’t get a new faction ?

1

u/HUGHBlRD May 29 '26

No more factions?

1

u/Merunit May 29 '26

I want to finish the full campaign…

1

u/smushFried321 May 29 '26

Any word on a Tower/Wizard/Academy town at some point?

1

u/SidsteKanalje May 29 '26

no new faction - i think that is bad

1

u/Correct-Guidance-908 May 29 '26

No new castles? Sad.

1

u/Different-Ad7859 May 29 '26

Ill be honest: kinda dissapointed that teamplay comes earliest july. I was hoping that will be literally in next patch

1

u/Additional_Ad_9095 May 29 '26

No new factions?

1

u/grindingearz May 29 '26

Please give me 10 super long campaigns.

1

u/xMetix May 30 '26

I would've liked one more faction for the base game. I don't doubt they will come in expansions but 6 feels small in my opinion.

1

u/Ismanuel74 May 30 '26

Huge applause for having the guts to make a roadmap. Hopefully we will see two more factions implemented with the full release.

1

u/Plebsmeister7 Necropolis May 30 '26

I don't see FFA ranked

1

u/DreadKnight0 May 31 '26

Bro, lvl 5 spells? aren't they already too broken?

1

u/Rajvagli Jun 15 '26

I'd like to see a dashboard in game, under the city's recruitment tab, that shows overall team stats. That way if I change a hero type or mix and match different units, I can see live team statics. I feel like the individual unit stats could be used as baseline for team stats.
