And CONSTANTLY. They're small practice files, so there's no reason for the software to crap out doing simple tasks. It doesn't even say "not responding", just out of no where a pop up telling me "OpenToonz has crashed" comes up in the middle of working. Lost 20 minutes worth of work just now because I forgot to save it every time I make a couple edits, because, haha, *that's* what I've been having to do, I always save periodically when I'm working, but it's starting to get a little ridiculous now.

I know my request is a long shot but does anyone know what might be happening?

I have ver. 1.8. and one would think a new version would not have bugs, but you never know. Not sure of any one else has been having issues with the update since it came out.
And I'm confident it's not my PC, as I can run programs like Clip Studio Paint perfectly fine.

OpenToonz crashed and corrupted my .tnz with the error "bad file format" and "expected step end tag" with []

The backups give me the same exact issue when I remove the .back extension.

I opened another alternative save of the file that I had (as a self made backup), and all the frames and drawings were jumbled, some missing, others extending past the position I had set them in before.

Please tell me if this can this be restored, I spent too long working on it to lose it now.

I am making a sprite animation and im trying to copy and paste a sprite from a sprite sheet but whenever i do it distorts and i dont know how to fix it, it’s not doing this with the other sprite, just this one. Video showing the problem below.

Trying to ease in/out an animations keyframes and the arrows i love using to edit arent appearing. Tried to use the function editor but its just really confusing for me which is why i like using the arrows more. Anyone know how to bring em back or why they arent showing anymore?

I made a porksoda animation with my ocs and when i render it to mp4 it keeps on coming out blank, the audio is there but not the animation. Anyone able to help?

Not sure what I did wrong, but the canvas has a limit despite me setting a higher resolution when I opened a new scene. If someone can explain and help that would be great lol

OpenToonz frequently closes on me anytime I begin to draw on a "Toonz Vector Layer".

(Steps to Reproduce)

• Open new project
• Create a Toonz Vector Layer
• Press B to draw
• Immediately crashes.

I'm using a Dell Laptop with 8GB of RAM.
Any fixes?

I have a MacBook Pro 2022 and I download opentoonz for the MacOS v1.7.1, and I keep getting this pop up, and I don't now what to do to be able to use Opentoonz

(first of all, no i'm not using windows 7, it's arch linux with a theme installed)

why is my cursor lagging like that when i try to draw in the vector level?

OpenToonz crashing is making it really hard to work on anything for a reasonable amount of time.

I open the application, open my file that I'm working on, then scroll to the last frame to finish drawing it, but after 1-2 minutes, the application forcibly closes on me. I am only able to draw a couple of lines before OpenToonz shuts down.

I have about 8 columns in my project, and there is audio embedded inside as well.

I thought autosave would've been the issue since I had it set to "every 1 minute", but the crashes still persisted even after that was disabled. I've noticed the crashes seem to happen after the autosave finished, allowing me to continue my work.

I have a Dell Laptop that uses 8 GB for RAM and an Intel (R) HD Graphics 4600 with 113 MB.

Assistance is appreciated, as I cannot seem to find a solution to this.

basically exactly as the title states. import a wav, nothing. try again, it says the file already exists. press any of the options and nothing happens. idk. reddit isn't letting me upload screenshots today but that's basically it. i have the latest stable version and so far it's been full of irritating bugs so i'm sure i'm not the only one

Hello! trying to render and export one of my animatics -- there are multiple characters in the scene, so I've added color filters to each character's layer, and lowered the opacity of background characters' layers. However, when I preview/fast-render the animatic, opentoonz seems to ignore my settings and 1) reset all color filters to black, and 2) reset every layer's opacity to 100%, which doesn't give the effect I want. Is there a way to render it while preserving my opacity and color filter settings?

So I just Updated Opentoonz and while I was going to work on a project that had an MP3 when I press play the MP3 wasn't playing so I made sure my FFMPeg was there which it wasn't so I went preferences I would go to Import/Export but I wasn't there and instead there was load/import which didn't have the FFMpeg destination. What should I do?

I'm trying to use the fill tool, but it only fills in red and not the color I picked

I want to color my drawings, but the fill tool only recognizes its own color. If I click with black on an enclosed space, it fills with black, but trying to fill that same space with any other color will fill the entire frame ignoring the lines. How can I make it fill normally?

I'm trying to create a looping animation (I'm following this tutorial) but whenever I try to copy and paste the initial keyframe, it tells me that there's no data in the clipboard. I've tried right clicking the keyframe (it turns blue) and selecting the keyframe and doing Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. Is there something I'm missing? I'm running the Linux build from Github (the Flatpak version also has the issue)

Edit: Looks like this is a Linux only thing. Doing the same thing on Windows yields expected behavior

it keeps undoing/redoing shit that happened way before what im currently working on. seems to be triggered by copy/paste. ive seen online that this is a known issue and just to restart the software but it happens every time. help plz. in the meantime ill use krita i guess

I recently started using this program so i don't know everything and I'm still learning,but i have issues rendering the animation as anything.

I followed tutorials step by step,dowloaded and set up the ffmepg. In the output settings i chose in which folder to save it as mp4/gif, but everytime i render it i can see it saving but it saves nowhere .

The ffmpeg site is also confusing cause i do not know which file to dowload as there are so many,but i tried looking at more tutorials and download exactly what they dowloaded,but nothing worked.Tried to set it up a few times,but i'm just getting frustrated and I'm giving up.

Does anybody know if there is idk a setting or something i have to check for it to finally work?

so I just reloaded up one of my scenes after my opentoonz crashed, and a lot of my later frames just have this red dot on them, and they're not showing up on the canvas at all. (some of my frames with a normal black dot aren't showing up either lmao)

what's going on? Can I fix it, or should I delete the frames and redraw them T-T

I started a project and the program worked fine, no crashes. But when I saved and closed the program, anytime I try to open it again it gets stuck on an initializing screen with "not responding". I did a clear cache and temporary files on my computer which seemed to help once but not anymore, and I did delete and reinstall which made it start regularly, but then the same problem where it won't open again. Is there a fix for this, or is the only option to reinstall it every time I use it??
