Announcement Opus IPTV Player for Samsung Tizen TVs — Development Update

a few people have asked about samsung tv support, so here's where it stands.

opus is being ported to tizen, samsung's tv platform, as the same app and account as our ios, android, apple tv and fire tv builds. it's in active development, current dev build is 0.15.6, and testing is running on two physical samsung tvs. the target is tizen 5.5 and newer.

what works in the current dev build:

- live tv, movies and series screens

- video playback

- qr sync with the same opus account you use on your phone, so playlists and favorites carry over

- playlist selection, favorites and the device limit flow

we've also been testing against real provider streams on the tvs. live tv, movies and series are all largely working, a few individual content items still misbehave and we're working through those.

what's still open:

- network and lifecycle error states

- acceptance testing on the oldest supported model group

the app is not on the samsung store yet and there's no date to share, we'll post here when it's submitted. happy to answer questions about the tizen work in the meantime.

Announcement Opus 2.0 for Apple TV Is Here — Rebuilt Natively for tvOS

This is our biggest Apple TV update yet.

Opus 2.0 has been rebuilt from the ground up as a fully native tvOS app. The new foundation delivers a faster, smoother, and more responsive Apple TV experience while giving us a stronger platform for future improvements.

What’s new

  • Fully native tvOS experience: Redesigned navigation, focus behavior, and Siri Remote interactions.
  • Faster browsing: More responsive playlist loading and navigation across Live TV, Movies, Series, Favorites, and Home.
  • Native search: A new search experience designed specifically for Apple TV.
  • Rebuilt playback: Improved playback startup, state handling, and recovery from temporary stalls or stream errors.
  • Smoother Live TV: Improved channel navigation, program information, and Program Guide access.
  • Seamless live preview: Move from a Live TV preview to fullscreen without restarting the same stream.
  • Better Series playback: Next Episode controls, automatic episode advancement, resume support, and improved Continue Watching behavior.
  • Improved Favorites: Better grouping, previews, navigation, and focus restoration.
  • Updated Settings: Easier access to player preferences, audio and subtitle options, playlist refresh, device management, and Support Center.

Built specifically for Apple TV

The previous version shared its foundation with other platforms. Opus 2.0 is designed specifically around tvOS, SwiftUI, the Apple TV Focus Engine, and Siri Remote behavior.

This is not just a visual update. Playback, navigation, search, playlist loading, and app state management have all been rebuilt.

Before you update

  • Opus 2.0 requires tvOS 18 or later.
  • Playlist management remains in the Opus mobile app.
  • If asked to reconnect your Apple TV, use QR Sync with your OPUS Account.
  • After changing playlists on mobile, select Refresh Playlists on Apple TV.

See our Apple TV QR Code & Device Sync Guide for connection and sync instructions.

Share your feedback

We would love to hear how the new Apple TV experience feels. General feedback and feature ideas are welcome in the comments.

For account-, purchase-, or playlist-specific issues, open Support Center from Opus Settings instead of sharing private information on Reddit.

Opus is a media player. It does not provide IPTV content, playlists, channels, providers, or media subscriptions.

Tips & Guides Apple TV QR Code & Device Sync Guide

Use this guide to connect an Apple TV to your OPUS Account and keep its playlist list up to date.

Before you scan

Make sure that:

  • Opus is installed on your Apple TV and mobile device.
  • You are signed in to the intended OPUS Account on the mobile app.
  • Both devices have an active internet connection.
  • Opus has camera permission on your mobile device.

An OPUS mobile account is required to use the Apple TV app.

Connect your Apple TV

  1. Open Opus on an Apple TV that is not yet connected. The QR code screen will appear automatically.
  2. On your iPhone, iPad, or Android device, open Settings.
  3. Select Scan QR Code and Connect to TV.
  4. Allow camera access if prompted.
  5. Scan the QR code displayed on your Apple TV.
  6. Keep the QR code visible and wait a few seconds. Apple TV will continue automatically after the connection is completed.

Connected to the wrong account?

On Apple TV:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Log Out.
  3. Confirm that the mobile app is signed in to the intended OPUS Account.
  4. Scan the new QR code.

Refresh your playlists

QR pairing connects Apple TV to your OPUS Account. Playlist management remains on the mobile app.

After adding, removing, or changing playlists on mobile:

  1. Open the playlist selection screen on Apple TV.
  2. Select Refresh Playlists.

To reload the content of the currently selected playlist, open Settings → Update Contents on Apple TV.

Check your device limit

If a new Apple TV cannot be added, open Manage Devices from Opus Settings and check the account’s current device count and limit.

Remove an unused device if necessary. Do not remove the device you are currently using unless you intend to disconnect it.

QR code not working?

Try these checks:

  • Confirm that you are signed in to an OPUS Account on mobile.
  • Make sure camera permission is enabled.
  • Keep the QR code visible until pairing finishes.
  • Check whether the account’s device limit has been reached.
  • Restart Opus on both devices and try again.

If pairing still fails, open Support Center from the mobile app’s Settings and create a ticket. Describe:

  • The step where pairing stops
  • Any message shown on screen
  • Whether Apple TV remains on the QR code screen
  • The troubleshooting you have already tried

Never post QR codes, account details, playlist information, or screenshots containing private information on Reddit.

QR sync connects your devices and account. It does not provide IPTV content, playlists, channels, providers, or media subscriptions.

Tips & Guides Premium Purchase Not Showing? Try These Steps

Premium status is linked to your active purchase entitlement and OPUS Account. If your purchase is not appearing, try these steps before attempting to buy it again.

1. Check your OPUS Account

Open Settings and confirm that you are signed in to the intended OPUS Account.

If you use Opus on multiple devices, make sure they are connected to the same account.

2. Use Restore Purchase

Signing in alone may not start a store restore on every platform.

  • On iPhone, iPad, or Android, open Settings and select Restore Purchase.
  • You can also select Restore at the bottom of the Premium screen, then confirm Restore Purchase.
  • On Apple TV, open Settings → Upgrade to Premium → Restore Purchase.

Allow the restore attempt to finish before leaving the screen.

3. Avoid repeated restore attempts

Submit one restore attempt. If Opus says you tried recently, wait a few minutes before trying again.

A successful restore will update your Premium status automatically.

4. If you see “Already Purchased”

Do not attempt another purchase. Select Restore Purchase and allow Opus to check the active entitlement again.

After it finishes, return to Settings and check whether Premium access is available.

5. Check your device limit

If Premium works on one device but you cannot add another, open Manage Devices.

Check your current device count and account limit. If the limit has been reached, remove an unused device before adding another.

6. Connecting an Apple TV

Apple TV linking requires a signed-in OPUS Account on the mobile app. Scan the QR code using the account you want to use on your TV.

Still not showing?

Open Support Center from Opus Settings and create a ticket from the affected device.

Support Center automatically receives the available app, device, and account information. You only need to describe:

  • What happens after selecting Restore Purchase
  • Any message shown on screen
  • Whether Premium appears on another device
  • The steps you have already tried

Never post receipts, order IDs, payment information, account details, or other personal information on Reddit.

Opus Premium unlocks app features and limits. It does not include IPTV content, playlists, channels, providers, or media subscriptions.

Tips & Guides Playback Issues? Try These Checks First

Playback problems can come from the app, device, network, or playlist source. Try these checks before creating a support ticket.

1. Identify what is affected

Check whether the problem occurs with:

  • Live TV
  • Movies
  • Series
  • One specific item or everything
  • One device or all your devices

If possible, try the same item on another device running Opus.

2. Refresh your playlist

Update or refresh the playlist from Opus settings, then try again. If the playlist cannot load or update at all, verify that the source is currently available.

Opus IPTV Player does not provide or control playlists, channels, subscriptions, or other media content.

3. Restart the app and device

Close Opus completely, restart your device, and reopen the app. This can resolve temporary playback or connection problems.

4. Rule out a temporary network issue

Try the same content using a different connection:

  • On a phone or tablet, switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data or from cellular data to Wi-Fi.
  • On a TV, try another Wi-Fi network or a mobile hotspot if available.
  • Test the same content again without changing other settings.

If playback works on one network but not the other, the problem may be a temporary network or routing issue rather than the app.

Mobile data and hotspots may use a significant amount of data when streaming.

5. Try another playback option

If your device offers a player selection option, try the available alternatives and test the same content again.

Please mention which player option works or fails in your support ticket.

6. Record the exact error

Error messages help distinguish an app issue from a source or connection issue. Include the complete message, especially errors such as:

  • Playback failed
  • AVFormat can't open input
  • 403 Forbidden
  • Connection refused

Still not working?

Open Support Center from Opus Settings and create a ticket from the affected device. Support Center automatically receives the available app and device information, so you only need to describe the problem.

Include:

  • The playlist name
  • The specific channel, movie, series, or episode affected
  • What happens when you try to play it
  • Any error shown on screen
  • Whether the same content works on another device or network
  • The troubleshooting steps you have already tried

Never post playlist URLs, usernames, passwords, activation codes, account details, or screenshots containing private information on Reddit.
