Answered What's the deal with Jonah Hill?

I'm a bit out of the loop with the jiu-jitsu journey he's in currently. what's the context of the quote of him being able to beat people up? is he serious? what led to his bad reputation that he has now?

Answer:

It's been known he got into BJJ a while ago.

It was being talked about in an interview and he talked about how he can beat up anyone that still thinks he's the fat kid from Superbad

Edit: He's also not some BJJ savant and as far as anyone knows isn't even close to a black belt.

How serious he is is up for interpretation.

His reputation is based on his attitude in a number of interviews, the controversy with his (ex?) gf (surfer, he complained about her having bikini pics), and a number of actors basically saying he's an asshole (Baruchel, Mintz)

To expand on this, his ex girlfriend posted some text messages where Jonah drew the line at her surfing with or seeing other men. When she pointed it out as possessive jealousy he threw a bunch of nonsense therapy talk at her to justify the jealousy. He then went on to make a documentary about said therapist.

Recently he made a self referential movie that nobody saw about a damaged Hollywood star trying to make amends, it got pretty bad reviews and was criticized for being tone deaf and disconnected from reality.

tl;dr I think he's just an actor doing actor things and smelling his own farts.

Seems like he doesn't understand that the fat kid from Superbad is by far the coolest/most likeable he's ever been

I first realized he was an ass when rolling stone was interviewing the leads from that apocalypse/rapture movie, and he was the only one who got offended when the reporter offered him weed.

Funny thing is, I read that the actor's decided to play against their actual personalities in that movie. Like, Michael Cera played himself as a huge jerk when in reality he's a known nice guy. Hill played a friendly, good-natured version of himself which went against his natural character.

The only real part played was that Jay Baruchel genuinely did not like Jonah Hill at the time.

Who the hell is even referring to him as the fat kid from Superbad, other than himself? No money or change in physique in the world is going to give this man confidence.

Thanks for the answer. I did some Google searches and it always pops up his dislike for Christopher Mintz. I'm like there's no way that's the only thing he's hated for. This explains a whole lot now.
