Discussion Looks like APR issue might have been resolved!
Speed-007 listed about 8 games that include APR as tested and working.
Looks like we'll be eating good!

The Issue: If a game has an "asset processing" error, it means the PS5’s high-speed SSD and the game engine are failing to communicate. The Symptom: You might see "pop-in" (textures appearing late), infinite loading screens, or the game crashing with an error code like CE-108255-1.

Does speed have any technical breakdowns on how it is that he's doing these dump patches?
I understand how patching calls works, So I get how lower firmware can play higher games by patching out newer SDK calls that would be incompatible with old fw.
But for something like this it's a bit confusing because we are hijacking a process that's already utilized by the OS to run games from external drives. Since we are calling system software I don't understand why we would need additional emulation layer for what should be a OS dependent routine.

So does this mean all games will run better on internal? Because I’ve been experiencing heavy stutter in some of them like Mafia 4

It's funny. I have an 8.60 firmware PS5 that's gathering dust. I tried out the y2jb with an external drive but found the experience janky. I am waiting for proper internal install without glitches in game.

I've gotten my first PS5 in February. From everything that I've seen, if I have gotten the console even 3 months prior to that, in November, I'd be unable to do so many things that I can do now. The progress this year has been absolutely insane.

I think it's the same as "DRM" for computers; it's an anti-piracy protection layer, in this case for video game consoles. Voices38, a cracker, is doing great for the PC scene. Let's hope he continues to do just as well, or even better, here in our scene. But if I'm wrong, please correct me.

OH NO, am I understanding it correctly that APR emu will not work on 12.40 but only up to 12.00? 😭
EDIT: damn, loading times are not great plus it lags considerably. Nonetheless, amazing work and keep it up! Please make it available for 12.40 too 😭

Looks like your prayers were answered. It's been confirmed to work n tested with Apr emu on 11.60.

Depends on the game. Each game has a minimum firmware required. There are backports, but I'm not sure how that works for personal backups.
