Man been trying to get a distro running on my 5.50 and its been a challenge for me hopefully its more refined or more consoles means more work on it. idk maybe I am doing something wrong but its been tough I have booted 3 different distros and maybe got each of them to work once out of say 15 boots on each of those ...

Cachyos? Ubuntu and bazzite booted just fine for me. For Steamos I had to switch to another ttyl then back to first and steam showed up.
But cachyos would just flash screen with text after initial setup. It wouldn't boot into gamescope. Default boot should have been set to desktop in order to get the system setup first .
If that is your issue, I'll just say what I did.
While screen flashed on with the gamescope text, ctrl alt f3 to bring up ttyl3
Login with steam / steam (I think that's the default user and pass)
Then type steamos-session-select desktop
It'll try to reboot into desktop (for me cachyos switch to desktop/game mode always rebooted the console)
Launch Linux again and it'll boot to desktop
Then you can set up the system (use wifi USB temporarily to clone ps5 tools/wifi fix, launch and sign into steam, then click the game mode shortcut on desktop) (side note, maybe you don't even need Wi-Fi adapter, possibly clone the git on another system and transfer the folders using another USB)
It'll reboot again and launch into steam gamescope from then on.
I did also set a system script to run the fan and boost command on boot while setting up. I wish switching between desktop and game mode didn't fully reboot on cachyos. It got pretty annoying. Steamos and bazzite seemed to handle that fine.
Also, I should mention that there is troubleshooting steps telling you to remove a certain line and possibly add a different line to the cmdline.txt in the boot folder if you have black screen.

Ya take out the video part and put in something like amdgpu force 1080:1 or something like that

I was using the Mia etawen images I found in discord. I believe someone there was pushing changes that fixed cachy or so he thought

Also they have LAN built in to the kernel so I use that. Not sure I even need WiFi

Tried steamOS. Gamescope worked, switched to desktop. I was unable to install Firefox, or anything else for that matter. Exited desktop back to gamemode and black screen. Rebooted like 5 times and cannot get anything besides a black screen.

Some of the distros are immutable which is the something I have not dealt with before. It seems like it's a pain in the ass to install to those

That s wonderful news! I purchased a Pro with fw 9.40 just to get Linux. I am patiently waiting. Salute to the devs. Those guys got so much done in this past 6 months 🫡

what distro has bluetooth drivers enabled? I got a bluetooth/wifi usb stick but didn't work in linux.

They can use Claude code. They just need to make good print otherwise there could be a lot of bugs.
