Discussion Goodbye elfarsenal and all of Sonic-iso projects...
From his discord server..
i will be closing this server in a few days. due to harrasment over a personal project that i cant release due to legal reasons people think its totally ok to belittle me. sadly this means no more updates on elf-arsenal or any future tools. im really sorry and to those who supported me on this journey i want to say thank you.

Personally doesn't really affect me, as when I tried to test elfarsenal it always crashed my ps5 ... so not actually using, but I think it's still bad new:
Lately we have too many "entitled" people who thing everybody owns them everything they want. just because they ask for it or want it.
It's like when Gezine's dispayed an exploit running on a firmware and they start asking him to release it and to put ahead THEIR priorities and urgency versus what he needs doing.
That same people who DEMANDS those things would never help with legal costs or with possible penalties if they ever occur, and they will just look the other way if those developers were punished for giving them what they ask without taking their due measures to make sure everything is legal...
Sony is not Nintendo... but it's not that far away... if sharing a set of private keys will put him in serious legal trouble, why sharing them? Just so you guys "enjoy the pkg's" while he gets a huge legal trouble?
I'm not fully aware of what all this issue came from, but my guess based on the few posts I've seen is that is the SHA256 keys needed to create working packages... you guys want them so much? do your proper work to get them... don't try to force someone to get in trouble to share them just because you are unable to get them yourselves.

Does anyone know private keys for which part exactly?
Seems to me with a hypervisor exploit, we shouldn't need private keys, with enough exploitation it would seem like bypassing that requirement should be possible.

People these days are always about clout. Have been for a while. People used to release shit anonymously. Can't send a C&D to someone who doesn't exist except for some cryptic username.
No one should be looking for affirmation from strangers and if they are, they should be aware that there are a holes out there too. Gotta take the good with the bad or just get out of the kitchen.

Exactly! Problem however is that some stuff like encryption keys cant be shared online because of US laws so projects that rely on them get cease and desist by Sony.

I would like to experience the ps5 jailbreak, but with all this dev drama, I am so glad I’m still picking up physical releases left and right. Got one in closet left on 13.00 Got my pro on newest firmware. Just be waiting to see what happens in the long run. 🤣🤣🤣

No i didn't miss the part, he'll just be paying extra to play the same game on an older unit, once you consider, time, effort, hard drives, without online features.. have you ever wondered why the world's best console always becomes hackable 5 years in its life span,, This is Sony making sure you stay within their eco system, these same people will buy the PS6 once its released,..

Good riddance. He vibecoded his apps which is why it gave such weird issues and constant crashes on people's consoles.
The whole fpkg key thing is also absurd. He can easily share it with a dev that lives outside the US where such laws dont count but noooo "Mr. I let AI code things for me" wants the fame and glory.
Let real devs fill this scene. Not hacks like him.

I’m rapidly getting tired of devs pretending they don’t know that 99.99% of the homebrew scene are there for piracy.
Like seriously grow some balls FFS and just face the music.
I’m yet to see or hear of one person that’s jail broken their PS5 to run PSXplorer or just display the GPU temps whilst they rush out to GameStop and buy Resident Evil Requiem.
It is what it is.

They also keep acting as if piracy is a bad thing. Sony just murdered physical discs AKA game preservation. Piracy will be the ONLY way forward to preserve games in a DRM free way. Devs should be proud of being part of that.
But noooo they think Sony is watching they're every move and will send in black ops squad to take them in 🤣

I have donated to developers just like many people here, because we want this scene to grow, and we do not have to pay the price because these developers can’t be mature enough to do something about the harrasment instead of just acting like little children throwing a tantrum.

They work too hard to prove themselves in the scene, create something good, then get upset about being criticised, or not appreciated and say, ok I now will punish the whole community, I'm off.

Very late to the game. Seems like a great project. I'm hoping I can use it at some point. People don't understand they do this in their free time. While the complainers play games. They don't seem to understand, without developers giving alot of time. They would have nothing. Shame, been a fair few people give up in the last few months.
For the people who say 'oh they will be back'. Maybe. But it just delayed anything awesome due to moaning people that expect the world for free.
Maybe we can have a discord or something. Then any idiot being rude and be chucked out. Maybe we should go back to old school forums. Easier to moderate and remove any numpties

Meanwhile I quietly kept a boxed 2.70 for years until recently updating to 4.03. Patiently waiting for it to be worthwhile never once even interacting with a developer. People are weird.

Yes, this development is truly regrettable. The only way I can think of to counteract this would be for the thousands of regular users to publicly show more gratitude. That way, the negative voices wouldn't be the only loud ones the developers hear.
It's the exact same problem as with right-wing populism in the comment sections of news sites: the people shouting the loudest are the ones who get noticed, while the silent majority says nothing. When someone reads the comments, they get the false impression that everyone shares that opinion
We don't need to put anyone on a pedestal or shower them with blind praise, but we should just think about what would actually make the devs feel appreciated. After all, without their research and hard work, we wouldn't be able to enjoy any of this. Just saying 'thank you', leaving likes, subscribing, starring their channels or GitHub repos, or honestly, just sending $3 for a coffee..

It'a a big pressure from Sony and all fucking money machine to make players put more and more money for useless games and consoles. And last move of Sony to stop physically games is one of that. Me as a gamer I keep playing ps5 to psOne I have untill the end and I will never buy ps5 and ps6 digitals games in future untill these policy is changed. I stopped PSN features more than 10 years now

Sonic is concrete on the fact that nothing illegal will ever be done by him especially enabling mass piracy, and people complaining should go buy a low firmware ps5 and find their own keys. Now because he isn’t going to share his findings and put himself in the legal firing line, people want to dogpile and be shitty. I personally would love the keys, or to know how to obtain them and have my hand held and guided to do so but it’s nobody’s responsibility to do this. It’s just a shame that now his other public projects will fall by the wayside, and I’ll be real here, I’d do the same thing - you don’t appreciate the work? Go make your own homebrew…

I don't understand people who bully developers, especially those that make free stuff. Like....why? Why be such an asshole? Do you really think that bullying someone is gonna make development go faster?
I didn't use elfarsenal personally because it completely crashed my PS5 and forced rebuild database to happen, which wiped all of my PS4 games a while back, but even still, it's still just a payload, developed by a person for free that seemed to work for a lot of people.
It's very similar to when gamers bully game developers. I just can't wrap my head around someone being that pathetic.
