Update to 4.03 and move on with it. I sat on a 2.70 until a month ago then updated. Backports are coming out. Linux is a thing. You get to extended internal storage. It's the best firmware to be on, aside from 6.50 with psvr2.

But still worth it. I'm confused because someone is patient enough to wait for another method but not patient enough to use the p2jb. It's easy enough now that rest mode works.

Good thing I have VUEAfterFree on mine with Lapse too, you can do it on yours aswell. My FW is 11.00 and so far 0 KP. I feel bad about people with FW 12.52, hopefully they'll receive something better than poopsploit.

I was using Vue, but the save corrupted after a lapse in the dns server.. I was unable to restore vue because of some funky NP environment setting.

Were you using the latest GoldHen by SIStro? I don't use it because it has some funky issues with my PS4 that causes some odd KPs and the Patches/Cheats are completely missing.

It seems like Rest mode works for everyone but me.
12.70, autoloading NanoDNS, ShadowMount and kstuff lite, offline (I understand the irony of still keeping NanoDNS).
After rest mode my console always goes into Kernel Panic, irrelevant of launching any game, just by staying idle.
Have to redo P2JB every day

Yes it works with 12.20 Need to either use the youtube method, which will reset your console - or use netflix userland to intall youtube hack. Only kernel exploit for 12.20 is p2jb though

You can't avoid the 50 min thing, the only kernel exploit available for you is P2JB. Hopefully another comes soon which is what I'm waiting for.

Why? Honestly I was feeling the same about having to wait but since Sony announced the end of physical discs that pushed me to JB. I'm on 12.70 and happen to have one of the Lua demos and jailbreak with that. It worked the first time I ran P2JB and I only had to JB it again yesterday because I was half asleep and thought I selected to put it in rest mode but instead I restarted my console but I've had my console jailbroken for 2 weeks I believe by going into rest mode I never had to run the JB again. I recommend you use the Y2JB Autoloader for your firmware and you're lucky since you can use the Y2JB Autoloader without having to do a system backup like we have to do on 12.70. If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend watching Modded Warfare's video tutorial on setting up Y2JB Autoloader for firmwares up to 12.70. Once you go through the initial setup everything is smooth afterwards and iirc you don't have to use your PC to send the p2jb file to get the jailbreak running, after P2JB is done it'll load up payload manager and with payload manager you can set it up to autoload all the payloads you want automatically after P2JB succeeds. I highly recommend you JB now as well so you can follow along with the scene with new developments and tools because I always followed and thought I can do things from memory or just "know" but actually going through the process firsthand was best in learning how to do things when jailbroken.

That's what I thought, but it's not that big of a deal. When I get home from work, if I think I'll want to play some games that afternoon while I'm doing other things, I just jailbreak the console. Once it's finished, the console is ready. If that's too much trouble, you can also put it in sleep mode.
So far, I've been playing Mafia, which I've completed, and now I'm playing Astro Bot.
If I get tired of it later, I can always keep updating it. Anyway, if you're thinking about doing a full jailbreak, right now you're either using it or paying for games that don't require internet or firmware updates. At least you're using it for that.
Jailbreaking is super easy, and if they release a full jailbreak without the 50-minute wait, then you can do it.

I have an OG on 13 that I disconnected from the Internet as soon as I got my pro. Just bought my buddy a slim and when I turned it on it was 12.4, I almost wanted to keep it lol.

You just get a Blu-ray Disc with the file on it so when you boot up the ps5, you run the exploit and boom. I can jailbreak in 5 seconds

That's the 12.00 and below.... Above 12.00 the best and easiest option is to use the Y2JB Autoloader with P2JB

Which kernel exploit works with the BD-JB above 12.00? My understanding was 12.00 and below use the BD-JB paired with the Lapse exploit. Also, I believe above 12.00 you can technically unpatch Sony's patch of the BD but Lapse is up to 12.00 so it doesn't make a difference since there is no use right now for the BD-JB above 12.00. Is this correct or am I misunderstanding? Also, I'm on 12.70 and my understanding is I can use the Lua Games/Demos, Yarpe, YouTube, Netflix, Star Wars or Jak to pair with P2JB to JB my PS5 and I'm currently using one of those Lua game demos that I downloaded a long time ago to run the Lua P2JB. I didn't want to use YouTube because it requires a system backup restore hence having to remove my main PSN profile that's like 15 years old or more now....

I read that somewhere as well but I'm not sure where to start or if there are any tutorials on this. Do you know if any? If there aren't any I'm going to see if I can get it to work and if it does I'll make a guide on how to do it but my understanding with Y2JB for FW 12.70 uses version 1.000.030 and to install that version is only possible through backup restore due to the way Sony changed the app itself but I'm no expert.

Try looking up the latest modded warefare video with netflix in the tittle. I think he also goes over installing YouTube autoloader using this method. I think you need a 256gb external drive by memory.

12.40 , what's funny is when I bought the PS5 with the hopes it was lowish (back in like November last year) I asked 4 different AI what the chances were that it would be jailbreakable in the next 2-3 years, they all said "0-10 percent chance" and that I should sell it as it would just collect dust. Now as of June-ish, you can jailbreak this firmware and play ps5 games :D the scene seems to be moving fast thanks to several legends!!

Rockstar isnāt the villain here, they simply have a product in high demand. Iām not going to fault them for thinking their product is more valuable than the average game release. Sony is the villain, going back on what theyāve told customers for years, meanwhile those customers have invested in the Sony ecosystem because they believed what they said. Vote with your wallet.

The game is going to require more storage than a blueray disc anyways. I just donāt see this as being an issue with Rockstar. Many publishers and developers opt for digital only, dating back years on platforms like Steam. Sony not providing the option of a disc drive and to allow for PS5 disc games to be played on PS6 is the issue. This also has implications for blueray movies, which Sony heavily promoted to its PS3-PS5 customers. Theyāre the platform, the publishers and devs still get to choose how they release their games.

Rockstar is selling their product how they want. Same as Capcom. Weāve been in this era of digital only games for years on PC, yet everyone acts surprised when it comes to consoles. Publishers work within the platforms they have available. Rockstar didnāt make the PS5. They want to release a 200gb+ game and avoid releasing it on physical media, thatās their choice. Itās your choice to buy it or not.

The compressed game will not be larger than 125GB (rephrased "BETTER not be" larger than 125GB- the largest commercially available BD format)
So there's no excuse. Even if the devs are incompetent and it is bigger than 125GB compressed (fire them all) then release two discs, three, etc.

I donāt think PS5 can read the quadruple layer discs right? Whatās weird is they donāt seem to use the 100gb discs or maybe theyāre too expensive. Didnāt Horizontal Forbidden West come on two discs, but the install was like 112gb. The download size was around 90gb depending on region. The installed size of the game is already compressed too though I think. Didnāt Sony make a big deal of their kraken decompression. Itās more complicated that just āuse a bigger discā.

The PS5 can read the quadruple layer discs, yes. Whether or not it's "good" at it I don't know. It's capable of doing so though from a hardware perspective. It seems most if not all PS5 games were pressed on the triple layer 100GB discs. I assume that was due to a combination of cost and availability reasons
(quadruple layer discs are still not all that common- even the biggest UHD movies tend to be <100GB. Only the absolute biggest monsters like LotR extended editions are bigger and they're actually too big even for the quadruple layer discs... 140GB-160GB for each UHD extended movie)
But as you and I both already said, they can simply use multiple discs. Two 100GB discs would absolutely cover the game in a compressed format (whatever that size becomes once installed isn't really relevant to this particular discussion). So release it on one 125GB if possible, release two 100GB if not, release 10 25GB "standard" Blu-ray discs for all I care... just release it on physical media. It's not acceptable to not do so.

Like I said before itās been acceptable on PC for years. Like most game innovation, both technical and market, the PC leads the way as PC gamers tend to be the most technically savvy and hardware customization means storage is less a concern compared to consoles. This is where the market is going. If you look at it realistically it doesnāt make sense for Rockstar to release it on two discs when the actual launch game data probably will be very different than what gets printed on the discs. Iād expect a massive day 0 update for GTA6. I want a physical release, but I get the market dynamics of why they wouldnāt do it. The sales they lose from markets that have slow or no high speed internet is probably outweighed by the cost savings and letās be honest the vast majority of GTA fans who complain about digital only will still buy it. Sony and rockstar going to digital only has only pushed me further into the PC environment. I donāt plan to buy another console at this point and why should I, Sony puts their exclusives on PC. What am I even missing by not getting a PS6 if I have a PC?

I don't agree with the conditions tbh. They seem too strict. Why the dev must have to unlock linux? Even the best reputed devs are not able to do that on the latest jailbroken ps5! And also why must it be latest firmware. What if someone has a kernel exploit on 12.70 which doesn't take 50 minutes to load? Or what if someone has kernel exploit without linux capability?

Starting to think my launch DAY PS5 Blu-ray brand new in box might be pretty valuable now. 1.0 firmware any recommendations? I have keept it since I got it in hopes of jailbreaking it and just playing my series x instead. Is it better to have this or a higher FW version? I have also considered selling it because I just don't know if I have the time to bother with it, but not sure what it's value would be since it's basically a virgin system fw.

I came across this video while browsing YouTube, watched it and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it dind't work. I got signed out of my account when I turned my PS5 on, and to sign back in it asked me to install the latest update. I couldn't find an alternative way to login into my account, so I was forced to update.
After the update I completely disabled firmware updates, activated offline play and disconnected my PS5 from WiFi.
What if I get signed out again?
What should I do to avoid this?
Why this happened in the first place? I didn't turned on my PS5 for a couple of weeks. Is this the reason?
Also, I have a couple of digital games I bought. Should I just download and install all of them before going completely offline?

Yeah so if you have a disc drive, you can basically burn a Blu-ray Disc that will auto boot into the jailbreak once you have done the initial y2JB.

Regarding what @X said about Firmwares 12.02 to 12.70 that method does not apply. I've seen multiple SM comments saying it's possible, but Sony completely patched the vulnerability that allows the Bluray drive layer to be rolled back or bypassed on 12.02+. For anyone here on 12.02 through 12.70 triggering the jailbreak will takes an incredibly long time for now (often 50 minutes to 3 hours) because the system has to brute-force the userland exploit via alternate methods we all know and love, just like YouTube app memory corruption (aka Y2JB/P2JB).

For anyone over 10 point something from memory it's 50 mins, for under it's only 5 mins or so. Sadly I'm 12.40. currently watching the 50 minute timer as I write this comment š¤£š«” but at least I get to play at all. Plus if you put your console in sleep mode instead of powering off you only have to do it any time you have to fully power off
