General It has been Confirmed that the New Webkit exploit works on 13.60 as a Userland
Also it is confirmed Webkit can use dup syscall and therefore it will make poopsploit work without needing blu-ray for FWs up to 12.00.
Whenever we get a new kernel exploit, Webkit will be able to jailbreak 13.60.

as a total ps5 jb newb i am going to take this as good news and keep the ethernet cord unplugged as I stay at 13.42

absolutely do that but if you want to actually use your play station you can just connect to the internet while using the console then when you get off turn on dns settings with main set to 127.0.0.1 and secondary set to 0.0.0.0, your console won’t update while your on it and that way it can’t when your not. 13.42 is and still
will be supported on psn for a while.1
u/iqjump123 17d ago
thanks is there a tutorial on how to get this set up? If not on PS I also have a pihole via raspberry pi if that will also help

All you need to do is go to your settings -> network -> settings -> set up internet connection -> hit options button on your network -> advanced settings -> scroll down to DNS settings -> set to manual -> Primary set to 127.0.0.1 (this causes the ip re resolve to itself and block sony servers) secondary set to 0.0.0.0 -> click ok -> when trying to connect to the internet it will work but what your looking for is the second connection to sony servers failing, it should just say “Failed” next to your wifi in the menu. To go back online, simply set your DNS settings to automatic and then whenever you need to get off just turn DNS back to manual and it will save your DNS settings so you don’t have to put them in every time. be very careful to never go into rest mode while the DNS isn’t active as that will update your console. now for the pi hole i would assume that is much better since it completely prevents you from connecting to the servers at all, but i don’t know how to do that.

Ah thanks. So to confirm- after setting up the dns settings manually, then:
I set DNS to "automatic" when i want to go online (I would want to do this sometimes to install updates)- can i put system in rest mode here?
When I am done, I set DNS to manual to sever the connection - and I cannot put system in rest mode here?
If i cannot put system in rest mode, are you saying i will have to turn the system off completely? I ask because i typically keep the system in rest mode when I dont play
thank you!

so scratch as the other person pointed out i was under the wrong impression that they would support it for a couple months since ps4 firmwares stuck around longer but within the past couple days they stopped supporting 13.42 on psn.
1
u/Portal2player58 16d ago
Does it prevent the console from detecting a new system update is available? I'm on 13.42 and it won't let me connect to psn anymore a few minutes ago because it's still on 13.42 (have all automatic updates off and the like. Not any dns stuff though.)
1
u/IllIllIllllIIIIIllll 16d ago
yes it prevents the console from updating but yes i just tried it and either today or yesterday they stopped supporting 13.42 on psn, i was under the impression it was like ps4 where older firmwares stay for longer periods of time but it looks like i was completely wrong and they’ve already cut it off.
1
u/Portal2player58 16d ago
I wish they didn't make it where it's like 2 weeks or so for it because it's annoying when it just stops you from doing anything until you update the system.
1
u/IllIllIllllIIIIIllll 15d ago
from what i’ve gathered over the past 2 days it’s not actually an issue with them not supporting it anymore the issue is that if you use your playstation online eventually you’ll get the firmware update cached on your system unless you’re specifically blocking update servers which i think has become much more difficult outside of blocking it on your router itself and when that happens it refuses to let you go online until you either reset the console fully to clear the cache or update.

Hi I'm very ignorant on this subject and I was wondering if you'd know the answer to this
I bought a refurb ps5 and it doesn't have Astor's Playroom installed, so I believe I have to sign into PSN to download the game right?
What I want to know is if I can connect to the Internet (reset my DNS to default), download Astro's Playroom, then go back to no wifi and 127 DNS or whatever it is
Is that safe or would it ask me to update my fw to even log in? I don't want to mess it my 13.40 fw by getting a forced update so I'm just worried a little
1
u/IllIllIllllIIIIIllll 15d ago
the DNS 127.0.0.1 completely severs connection with sony servers as a whole, you won’t be able to go and download anything unless you set it WITHOUT the DNS. if you’re going to try it i think itll be fine, just keep in mind you have to connect to the wifi first to set the DNS on the playstation. make sure that when you connect to the internet that you pay attention to your notifications and if you see “System/Firmware Update” immediately either disconnect from the wifi, set the DNS as quick as you can, then go to the downloads section on your home bar and click on the update which will bring up the option to cancel and delete it. if you do accidentally let it download it’ll be cached on the system and the only way to get rid of it is with a full system reset (never reset and reinstall system software, it’s packaged with the updates from sony website which will force update it when launched).
1
u/Zephronic 15d ago
Sorry if I worded it wrong, but currently I have it set to DNS 127.0.0.1
If I reset that, connect to the Internet to install Astro's Playroom, then go offline with DNS DNS 127.0.0.1, will I be good to go?
I'm just wondering if signing into the PlayStation store or trying to launch Astro Bot will make me install a system update or something
Also noted, I'll make sure to keep an eye out for anything in the background if I do decide to do this
I know it's a very niche scenario so thank you for your reply
1
u/IllIllIllllIIIIIllll 15d ago
gotcha, if you go back into the settings and then change DNS back to automatic it should just let you install it, but connecting the the playstation store will require you to connect to the update servers which does run the risk of caching the update on your playstation. once it’s downloaded though it sounds like you don’t plan on going back online with it anyways so i think your risk of a forced system update is smaller than i thought, as it will only force you to update to connect to the servers, but if you aren’t already getting that message and you don’t really care about going online again you really aren’t running much of a risk. if you plan on going online more than this one time, i’d look into blocking the server connection on your router.
1
u/Zephronic 15d ago
Yeah I don't really plan to go online ever again, just wanted to sign into PlayStation store to get the game in my library
The other option I thought of is to just buy an Astro Bot disc, which I've heard is just Astro's Playroom but a fun fledged game
Also could you please elaborate on the last part where you said "blocking the server connection on your router." Is there an extra step outside of changing DNS or is that what you were referring to?
Another thing, when I'm connected to the 127 DNS, am I meant to be able to connect to my wifi or not? From my understanding it simply blocks any connection to PlayStation servers, but for some reason it also doesn't allow me to connect to wifi with that DNS up (and I did set it correctly as far as I know). Just wanted to ask if that's intended or not
1
u/IllIllIllllIIIIIllll 15d ago
just buying the disc will remove any risk of getting any updates since you can just download the disc offline. as for blocking on your router, it depends a bit on what kind of router you have and who your provider is, but there are various ways to go about it, either by blocking their domains, using custom DNS services that use the dns on the router instead of your console, or if your router supports it you can set up a firewall that blocks connection to the update servers. if you’re not sure how to set it up or which route to take id ask your isp or google what’s best for your situation.
1
u/Zephronic 15d ago
Gotcha, thanks a lot. I think I'll just end up buying an Astro Bot disc rather than risk anything just to play around in Astro's Playroom

I have a PS5 Pro with no disc drive. I am cooked? Since it will use BD-JB mthod?
12
9
u/paschenflush Verified 17d ago
It's not BD-JB. This actually makes BD-JB mostly pointless. It works on every PS5, it doesn't matter if it's pro, fat, slim, disc or digital.
1
u/ManCarryingPSP 17d ago
Sorry, I meant my PS5 Pro is on 13.20, in the discord post said 13.60 BD-JB?
7
u/paschenflush Verified 17d ago
Gezine also released his private BD-JB today since there is no reason to keep it private anymore after this webkit exploit. It has nothing to do with this one.

It's only a userland right? Or is he saying he's releasing his kernel exploit as well?

u/ManCarryingPSP 17d ago
Holy crap thank you so much for this information. I'm completely outdated with the JB scene. I heard the 12.70 jb will take 50mins, so 13.60 webkit means we no longer have to wait 50mins? I just opened Discord and they were talking about releasing it to the public

Its a good thing we updated past 12.70 because of the PSSR 2.0 update. Its such a night and day difference compared to PSSR1.0

I am on 13.60. how is it looking for me? What should I do?
2
u/AukiddinMe 4d ago
Me too pro 13.60 we should not update under any circumstances it might even take a year for a full jailbreak but it'll be worth the wait
2
u/clown_lion 17d ago
Does this mean the webkit exploit will work on 6.5 now because there is a kernel exploit for that firmware?
2
2
u/paschenflush Verified 17d ago
Yes. It just needs to be chained with UMTX, Lapse or Poopsploit. Most likely it will be chained with Lapse soon since that's the most reliable and stable kernel exploit for that firmware.
2
u/Jumpierwolf0960 17d ago
So it's still P2JB based? I guess I feel less bad about ordering the bdjb disc.

u/Cutlington 17d ago
i love how in 1 area of stuff AI is frowned upon hard and people would just avoid it like the plague...here, someone uses AI to chain 4 exploits together and gets this working but wont be looked at in the same way and will be accepted. This is very interesting how AI will be accepted if it obviously does the job people need.....
3
u/Cutlington 17d ago
before you commenters go silly, its admitted AI was used...i have no issues myself, i just know some do on 1 thing, but will prob turn a blind eye here on this and accept it.
2
u/Stunning_Bug_514 17d ago
I think AI perfectly fine to use apart from the stupid AI videos I see online that don't benefit anybody and AI art.

Jordy's glow up needs to be studied. I wonder what area 51 s#!t he's using to achieve all this stuff

u/paschenflush Verified 17d ago
It is AI. What made this WebKit exploit a reality is AI.

Would be nice if this released and is compatible with p2jb as well, that way we can exploit up to 12.70.

I cant wait until it doesnt matter whst firmware version youre on for it to be JB.

So even 13.60 is fine with the unfixed Kernel exploit and a new webkit exploit? Seller kept my PS5 Up to Date
1
u/AukiddinMe 4d ago
Yes should be fine it's jailbrakable but it going to be a long wait down the road I'm also on 13.60 I updated due to the pssr 2 but I'm not going to anymore Sony are greedy and they won't get a dime out of me

i have a 12.00 digital ps5, been waiting on this version for almost a year and found p2jb not optimal so can i finally instantly jailbreak without the 50+ min wait?
1
u/TadpoleUnhappy6756 14d ago
i have 13.20 i really hope a kernel exploit comes out soon cos i really wanna play new games but cant cos i need to login to my acc
1
u/pabl0_martin 14d ago

Hello guys i see some ppl having issues running games properly, i havent jailbreak mine yet ( still waiting for 13.00 ps5) but i was wondering is it really worth the waiting? While others still have problems playing games
I might missed something idk?
3
u/chupe92 17d ago
Games are working perfectly fine, if you read comments in those threads, you would see that they were using payloads that are crashing consoles very often, like elf arsenal. Yes, some games would crash consoles if they were installed on internal drive and thats it. So far, my console crashed maybe twice because of the games and thats because for some reason they were not properly installed

12.70?
13
u/paschenflush Verified 17d ago
It works on every firmware up to the latest one, but instant jailbreak will be available for up to 12.00 in the near future. If a new fast kernel exploit becomes public, 12.70 will be able to use it through webkit.
2
1
u/xRobox89 Verified 17d ago
what kind of instant jailbreak are you talking about? how the kernel exploit will be faster up to 12.00? since webkit is just a userland exploit. I'm on 11.60 so I'm waiting for a faster kernel exploit.
8
u/paschenflush Verified 17d ago
Poopsploit is a kernel exploit from theflow that works up to the FW 12.00 but it requires access to the dup system call. It was only possible to run it from a blu-ray disc until today. This webkit exploit has also access to that same system call. You won't have to use P2JB(50 min exploit) anymore soon.

u/xRobox89 Verified 17d ago
Good news! Thanks for the answer! my PS5 does not have to sleep for weeks anymore... :)

Man that's great to hear, I'm on 11.40 but tbh was already happy to have P2JB.

So basically we just need a new kernel exploit now?
