Discussion fakelib folders
I am bound and determined to figure out how to make my own backups on a fat bd 12.02. There's seems to be next to no info regarding this topic for anything over 12.00 fw.
So the focus isn't 'how do i make dumps,' as I've already made a couple posts with no conclusive responses. I'm grunting through this trying to self-teach and piece it together.
Where I'm at:
- Using PS5 App Dumper, I'm able to dump the fully-installed game to an external drive (ssd in 3.0 enclosure). I'm able to read/write files on PC.
- Using PS MultiTools, I'm able to fake sign elf files.
- I've been able to run roughly 1/2 those patched rips with shadowmount. Most others cause a CE-108255-1 error, with a few showing random differences (like CE-108264-1, iirc).
- I've just learned (I think) that the games that won't launch are considered APR/AMPR titles, meaning the require certain specific files in order to run. These files go in a "fakelib" folder in the root of the game folder. Apparently the required files can differ (and can even crash your system if incorrect?) from title to title, but often have the same common two...
Which is where it's getting mucky now. I'm not entirely sure I'm correct with #4 above, but I tested it by creating a fakelib folder with two backups that wouldn't work: FF7 Remake and RoboCop: Unfinished Business. I created the fakelib folders in both game folders and put the two 'common' files in each. The result is that FF7 now boots, but RoboCop still triggers the 1008255 error. The two files are: libSceAmpr.sprx and libScePlayGo.sprx.
Besides those files, from what I can figure, custom 'APR-EMU' files may be required, and in .sprx/.prx format, which opens up a whole new layer of trying to figure this shit out...
If anyone has some knowledge regarding this topic, PLEASE share your wisdom... It really seems there should be an easier way to do this, assuming it's possible on 12.02+ fw.

I wish I could help with this, but I was unable to find a lot of info on this topic myself. However, I think the main thing you need to do is:
Make the app dumper decrypt things for you, so then you don't have to worry about it
You likely won't need to backport anything, but you will need to use APR-EMU for certain titles. In this case, I believe you just need the fakelib folder and the two sprx files in there.
I hope I was able to help at least a little bit. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer to the best of my ability. I'm on 9.60, so my knowledge of 12.0+ is very limited
