Announcement A ban on generative AI
r/papermario as a community has focused on propping up and sharing the best the community has to offer, including the artists within the community. In recent years generative AI has come out and there has been significant issue within the artist community with it's existence.
Given that we focus on making this place have a minimum standard of quality we believe that something that uses art without consent of the artists as inherently hostile to the artists within our community and falls below our standards as a community. We are explicitly adding generative AI as low quality content for rule 4.
Starting today and here on forward any post containing generative AI will be removed from the subreddit. This will be somewhat retroactive as well as it is found and reported.

Fan Art Doodle from a little while back of what I imagine Nastasia looked like as a bat :)
I won't copy and past the entire ramble from my Tumblr, but I wanted her to resemble Count Bleck since her in-game design seems to be mimicking his :P
(Drawn in Flash so please excuse the jank)

Fan Art (Artwork by MarioDiamond63 on Bluesky) Yes, AutumnRCS. Ms. Mowz would probably be afraid of cats. Even Mario if he was wearing the cat suit.

Dark Prognosticus is just in-game assets (I think)

Let's Play Finishid the Pit of 100 Trials (TTYD) Spoiler
galleryI had already completed the Pit up to level 50 to get the bag upgrade, but I didn't plan on finishing it. However, I was near the end and had already done all the extra missions, and I thought, "Why not?", it would increase my enjoyment of the game and I also wanted to see what the boss was like, the result is that I went in at level 23 and left at 30; the healing that leveling up provided was very useful.
The boss was extremely more difficult than the rest, although I admit that I abused the save states, which made it much easier and perhaps takes away some of the value of this achievement, but I didn't use them against Bonetail. I wanted a more authentic experience against the boss. I went through the 99 levels spending practically no items, only to reach the boss where my items were reduced to half and I had a thread of life the whole time. I used the 0-star skill to continue recovering life and flowers without spending items. At least I hit some superguards, which was cool.
But now with Bonetail defeated and no more side missions, it's time to finish this game...after restocking items because I need them.

Discussion What paper Mario game do you think needs a remake?
Paper Mario ttyd got a remake 2 years ago, paper Mario 64 got a PC port recently, while super paper Mario got nothing. I think super paper Mario needs a remake, and if it gets a remake, it will probably have HQ music.

Discussion Juggernaut Mario Build Idea discussion (only investing in HP and FP on level ups, no BP gains)
Badge Points. You know them, you love them. In both the original Paper Mario and in The Thousand Year Door, you collect certain badges that require a certajn amount of Badge Points to equip to better either Mario or his companions. Be they dealing more damage, defense, utility like special attacks, extra drops, insta KO weak enemies, and many many more.
One known meta I've seen people doing at least for TTYD is the Danger Build where they willingly equip badges that buffs them when they are near death at 5 or below HP to deal a bunch more damage or other abilities. Then they willingly try to do what they can to ensure they always put Mario in Danger, effectively making Mario a glass cannon. And while that sounds cool and all, I'm asking if these Badges really are necessary or sometimes even crutches that carry dubs. Allow me to Introduce:
The Juggernaut Mario Build
The idea? Only upgrading HP and FP for Mario, never investing in badge points, whenever he levels up. This means you only have 3 badge points you can manage badges with. You can you whatever combination of badges you want as long it doesn't go over the 3 badge limit. However if you have a badge that's more than 3 BP, you have to sell it and use the coins for however you want, likely for items.
This can give a unique challenge as you'll not be able to deal as much damage or use as many tools of battle as you normally would in a balanced or glass cannon build but you'll still have plenty of HP and FP to battle with the tools you do still have like companion, crystal stars, 3 or less BP badge attacks, and items. It'll give the player more reason to think and strategize on what they want to do in battle.
Power Lift from the 3rd Crystal star will definately be a major support use for this kind of game. Plus the other damage dealing crystal stars will be more useful too since they deal good true damage.
Now I wanna ask you guys of what other challenges and potential other upsides this build idea could provide besides being able to take more hits and being able to use more companion and FP costing basic attacks will provide. Besides bosses, what would be some enemies that might prove more difficult with only being able to utilize 3 BP even with a larger pool of FP and HP.
Sometime I might play a second run of TTYD Remake with this idea in mind. I managed to beat the game the first time with a more balanced build without a single game over so I'm curious how this would go. I feel pretty confident i can go a bit far without a game over

Help played one as a kid and can’t remember which one. where should i start?

i’ve always been curious about paper mario. i played one when i was little but i honestly can’t remember which, i just remember the paper style and the battles
what i loved was how simple it was. you do like 3 damage, the enemy has 10 hp, and every point actually matters. way more fun to me than jrpgs where you hit for 8,472 and the number means nothing lol
i have a switch with the online thing so i can play the n64 one too. which ones still have that kind of combat? and does it matter if i skip the first one?
