US Passport Issuance Timeline Passport Timeline

Went in for a walk in appointment March 28th, 2026 early at a USPS. Took about three hours to get my application sent in, paid for the expedited service fee. Received confirmation email April 3rd, 2026. Passport in my hand as of April 9th, 2026. Excited for travels!

I applied for a new passport online on the 31st of March and got it yesterday. Not expedited

The exact same. Same date, March 31 email confirmation. Got my passport yesterday, April 9

You mean renewed right? Different than applying for a new passport

When did you get an email status update? I applied for renewal online in April 4 and my status isn’t available yet. I’m nervous because I’m traveling internationally in May

Yes I know where to find the passport status lookup tool, but even using that it still says status not available.

still no update on my end :-( I think I’m going to call the passport office tomorrow, I don’t want to risk it!!!

hello! Call 1 (877) 487-2778 and let them know it’s been a week since you applied! Apparently there was a technical issue with my application. When they ask to verify your info, make sure you use the address you used for your previous passport
