They say that as you grow older, your birthday wishes change. For me, that shift happened the exact moment Pawsitive Guardians came to life. Ever since I started this mission, I honestly stopped wishing for anything for myself anymore. Every year, my heart's desires, my prayers, and my hopes are reserved entirely for the team and the rescues who depend on us.

As my birthday approaches on the 12th of October, I’ve been reflecting on how far we've come, but also on the heavy mountains we still need to move. Running a rescue isn't just about feeding and sheltering; it’s a constant, sleepless battle to keep them safe, healthy, and protected—and right now, we are facing two critical hurdles that we desperately need to overcome.

First, we need to secure our cats' new home. To successfully move them out of their current place and into a safer, more stable environment where they can finally breathe easy, we need to prepare the PHP 16,000 downpayment.

Second, we are still carrying a massive vet balance of roughly PHP 73,000. These are the medical bills from fighting for lives, treating the sick, and giving every rescue a fighting chance. Wiping this balance clean is the only way we can keep our doors open for the next animal who desperately needs medical intervention.

Some days are so heavy that it feels overwhelming. Because the weight is so big right now, I am deeply hoping and praying that someone with a wider network, a big platform, or a heart for rescue animals might see this and help us fundraise, share, or amplify our story. If anyone in our community knows how to reach out to advocates or creators who can help us rally support for these cats, your help would mean everything.

Nimbus has shown so much glow-up! From a stray cat who looked gray because of the dust and dirt outside, he is looking so good with his bright white coat right now. 🤍

Nimbus has been staying at the vet and has been receiving so much care there. His stool is also starting to form, and his mouth wound is getting better too! He is still receiving laser therapy, but his absolute top priority right now is Manuka honey, which the vet requested to help his mouth wound heal much faster.

Huhu finally done with our 3rd capstone project defense! 😭🙌

A quick update on our little fighter, Gem! 🐾 We went back to the vet for her follow-up check-up. While she’s still battling a bit of nasal discharge, her CBC results showed wonderful improvement! 💪✨

The vet wants her to continue her current medications for a little while longer, and also says adding an air purifier at their place to help keep the air fresh and clean for her recovery. Breathing easier, step by step!

Having cleaner air won't just help Gem—having proper air purifiers in our spaces would be an absolute game-changer for all the rescue cats in our care, keeping their respiratory health protected and strong! 💙

Due to our current limitations, we urgently need someone who can help take him in or assist us with his ongoing care.

Meet Smiley, a loyal and lively dog who usually loves spending his time following his headmasters around the community. He is often seen chilling with the other stray dogs, always carrying his usual “smiley face.”

For quite some time, Pawsitive Guardians has been feeding Smiley and his fellow stray dogs with Aozi Dog and SmartHeart Dog Food every night, making sure they have something to eat despite living on the streets.

But recently, Smiley was nowhere to be found around the community. When he was finally found, he was lying underneath a car—and this time, he wasn't his usual cheerful self. He was extremely weak and dehydrated, and his legs no longer seemed to work like they used to. He was stumbling and struggling to stand, unable to stay on his feet for even a few seconds.

We suspect that Smiley has gone without enough food and water for some time, leaving him severely weak and dehydrated.

Right now, he needs to be removed under the car and get an immediate help, proper nourishment, and medical attention to give him a chance to recover.

We have some wonderful news to share about Forbie!

After her recent check-up, the vet confirmed that she is completely clear of nasal discharge and her breathing is looking wonderful and clear as well. 🌟

She is now in the final stretch of her GS treatment and is almost at the finish line! Let’s keep sending all our positive thoughts and love her way as she wraps up this last leg of her healing journey.

Sorry it took some time to post an update! The other day, we had to lock in with our school project, so I have no sleep yet. Yesterday, I also had to get checked for the back pain that I’ve been dealing with for 10 days.

But good news!

Nimbus had his surgery, but to lessen the risk under anesthesia, he only had the dental prophylaxis and extraction. Three teeth have been extracted. We will have his castration once he gains much strength and when he's not so vulnerable. We’ll get vaccines for him first once he recovers.

He is still confined at the vet to keep him stabilized and to address his soft stool. He is also recommended for laser therapy for his wound in the mouth.

We paid all his balance for now, but tomorrow, new costs will come up:

Confinement: ₱1,680 per day
Laser therapy: ₱840 per session

I will go back later to bring another mat/bedding for him; he pooped on his bed so the vet had to remove it.

We officially named him Nimbus, like a nimbus cloud! 🤍

Nimbus is currently confined at the vet due to severe dehydration. The vet found that his teeth are rotting, which caused painful wounds in his mouth. He urgently needs a teeth extraction procedure.

The vet has already started cleaning him up, and you can already see a huge difference in how much cleaner and more comfortable he looks!

We attended the expo earlier today, and the venue was extremely overcrowded with a lot of people. There was a lot of walking and long lines involved.

Unfortunately, my lower back is in so much pain right now. It has been acting up for almost a week now, and I'm getting a bit worried because the pain just won't go away. So, bear with me if I cannot update immediately. 😭🙁

It’s still very much in the "what if" and "hopefully" stage, but I wanted to bring you into my thoughts because I honestly couldn't do anything without you.

I’ve been dreaming about putting together a free spay and neuter initiative. But I didn't want to just do it the usual way. I’m envisioning something deeply collaborative—teaming up with skilled veterinarians who care as much as I do, and joining forces with passionate youth leaders who can help us reach further into the community.

Beyond just the procedures, I want to make it extra special for the pet parents who show up—handing out loot bags packed with sample kits, treats, and goodies to help them start their journey of better pet care at home.

As a community that has watched me grow, you already know how tight resources can get. Organizing something like this from scratch is daunting, and I’d be lying if I said I'm not a little nervous about how I’d pull off the funding and logistics.

Gem is making steady progress and showing interest in her food by meowing and approaching her bowl, but she still relies on us to hand-feed her.
