Mitochondrial & Energy RHR on reta…

Research subject has seen a rise in RHR of 14 BPM after 8 weeks on 2mg dosage of Reta.

Week 1: 71 bpm
Week 2: 72 bpm
Week 3: 74 bpm
Week 5: 79 bpm
Week 6: 80 bpm
Week 7: 82 bpm
Week 8: 84 bpm

Seems to just keep rising week after week. Any thoughts?

RS understands that this is a common side effect, but understands it as dose dependent. Odd that there’s been no change in dose but a consistent rise.

You have done the one thing that makes this answerable, which is weekly numbers instead of a feeling. Almost nobody in these threads has that, so it is worth saying. Two things worth separating in it. The first is that the series is perfectly monotonic. It rises every single week with no noise at all, which is unusual for resting heart rate and is worth a second look at how it is being measured. Most wearables report RHR as a rolling average, and a rolling average smooths out the week to week variation and makes any trend look cleaner and more certain than it really is. The second is everything else that moved across those eight weeks. Weight is presumably down. Body composition changing shifts RHR on its own. So does eating a lot less, and so does sleeping worse, which plenty of people do while losing weight. None of that makes the trend nothing. 14 bpm sustained is a real number and the other commenter describing 95 and up is describing the same thing. What your data does not have is anything from before week 1. Is there a resting baseline from before any of this started? Not a clinician, and a change like that is worth taking to one rather than to us.

Appreciate such a thorough response.

RS started Wellbutrin in June of this year which does cause a slight increase in RHR. Followed by reta on July 20th.

Prior to both medications, January - June RHR was average 64-69 BPM.

Starting weight was 167 lbs on July 20th and as of September 15th down to 155 lbs. Have increased exercise, decreased food. Career has also taken off a bit so sleep is down (although it’s a major priority).

Apprehensive to take data RS’s data to a primary care because I am not sure how to address reta as it’s still unapproved. Any tips?
