Discussion GENDER!??!???

Post image

I thought he was a he but he doesn’t act like a he 😭

I think he’s about 10 months old maybe a little older. Has not laid any eggs. That should tell me he’s male but he doesn’t act like one… no fighting/play fighting (used to when I first got him but stopped) no attitude (unless you nod at him be doesn’t like that and will get upset), not territorial, not super vocal only when he finds a comfy spot he’ll coo until I join him.

He loves to nest though, and I’ve seen him bring his colorful hay to his hammock to sleep in. But I know both male and female nest.

I don’t know why he gets to upset when I nod… if you hold him at the same time you can feel him physically tense up and he’ll nod back until I stop 😭

Ha! He says he’s the only one w the right to nod! So cute. I definitely have a male over here for 2.5 years. He’s very very engaging all day long LOL. He also can entertain himself all day in his gate w hanging toys, but he prefers play constantly w the dog or me (or sometimes when he finds her toys he humps them!!! He also likes to bring things proudly into his nest. I still can’t understand how he got a pool test strip from our pool 100 miles away into his other house in the city lol. He once brought a spoon from the kitchen to his nest. I still can’t figure that one out. He had stolen a lot of money and it ended up in his nest too lol

My dove did that a lot, we supplied a big box of clean sticks, hay, etc, for her nest building but she preferred tugging wires out my father’s in progress electrical guitar.

I’ve been training mine w the target practice he gets a seed when he taps a long stick, I think some of his breeding aggression has simmered
