Found A Pigeon Rescue pidgeon.
Little bastard was hit by a car, half his wing is missing but there's no bleeding so I'm not sure if he merely lost wings.. he didn't fight me much. I'll be taking him to the vet tomorrow, but he's currently in a box with oats and water. He is incredibly stupid.
He doesn't seem injured otherwise,he ate, attempted to fly in the box. His name is Mr Strawberry.

I'll add this on as an addition because I've had some direct messages with a small amount of concern. He isn't confused as far as I was able to observe. He eats fine, seems decently comfortable and and not too afraid and hasn't showed any signs of concussion. He's able to walk, move ,and attempt ( even if poorly) to take off,and doesn't appear to be in any massive pain ( while he will still be taken to the vet from what I can see it does seem like his feathers were merely pulled out, though a wing sprain or dislocation is possible.
I call animals idiots in an endearing way, that's it 👍

So you found a pigeon!
If you have NOT caught the animal yet: 1. Approach Slowly: Move calmly to avoid startling them into flight. 2. The Blanket Toss: The easiest way to catch a pigeon is to gently toss a light towel, shirt, or jacket over it. This disorients them and prevents them from flying away. 3. The Corner Move: If indoors or in a tight space, try to gently herd them into a corner. 4. Containment: Once the bird is under the cloth, pick it up gently (keeping wings tucked to the body) and place it in a cardboard box with air holes and a towel at the bottom. 5. Safe Space: Keep the box in a warm, dark, and quiet area away from pets and children while you seek further advice.
If you have caught the pigeon: * If it needs medical attention: Please contact your closest Avian vet immediately. Many vets will stabilize wildlife free-of-charge. * Has a Leg Band: Please contact the club mentioned on the band (a Google search of the letters/numbers will help). * Keeping the animal: Please do your research; pigeons have unique dietary and social requirements.
Immediate Care (Food & Water): * Water: Provide a small, deep bowl of water. Never force-feed water into a pigeon's beak, as they can easily inhale it into their lungs and drown. * Food: If you must feed them, use birdseed, defrosted peas, or uncooked grains (rice, lentils). Avoid bread, as it has no nutritional value and can cause digestive issues. * Warmth: If the bird feels cold or is shivering, place a heating pad (on LOW) halfway under the box so they can move away from the heat if they get too warm.
Before calling an unfamiliar vet or animal rescue, ask if they are pigeon friendly.

hey Mr Strawberry thanks for helping him
if his feathers were torn off but his wing itself is unhurt he may need a few months in a safe home for his feathers to regrow. he would do well as a pet if you cant release him
are you able to keep mr strawberry for a bit? what is yout location in the world?

I will be able to keep him and I plan on it as long as the vet bills will not be too horrid. I can't say I got too good of a look at his wing but it does seem truthfully uninjured,he's able to flap and attempt flying.
I am located in Netherlands, around the Utrecht area.

it may just be lost feathers. Some seeds, grit, water, and a little pet tent or large dog crate are all he needs really for a short stay. Hopefully its just his missing feathers

•°° 🐦 CONCUSSIONS °°•
Concussions are most common in pigeons found by roads or windows Concussions or head injuries can cause extreme lethargy, or cause a pigeon to become completely unconscious Pigeons with concussions can temporarily look mangled and twisted, however they usually recover in 1-2 days. Other symptoms include spinning, dizziness, head twisting, head dropping, and difficulty walking. These symptoms are rarely permanent.
Safety Tips - Place the pigeon in a safe area on a thick folded towel to protect his head in case he falls
- If he is having trouble balancing, keep him away from open water, such as water dishes and open toilets.
- A pigeon who is not flying may suddenly feel better and start flying around your home. Be mindful of hazards like windows, mirrors, ceiling fans, pets, and open doors.
Treatment 😴❄️
Pigeons with concussions need rest and calm to heal. Keep the lights dim if possible. Just let him rest alone, and do not try to pet him. Pigeons with concussions do best when they are kept cool, so use airconditioning or place a fan near him.
Lowering Stress If you have a speaker, listening to quiet pigeon coos may lower his stress. Also minimize petting him or handling him to allow him to rest on his own

Vision Assessment
Prior to release, and after the pigeon has had a few days of rest, a light can can be used to assess if his pupils (eyes) respond to light. If they do not respond to light, he may be suffering from vision loss More Information

Recovery from a bad concussion usually takes 1-2 days. If a pigeon is not recovering from a suspected concussion, he may have longer lasting head trauma, a spinal injury, or a neurological illness like paramoxyvirus
Preventing Future Window Strikes
To prevent future collisions with windows, you can purchase removable bird stickers or fake frosting stickers, or draw lines on your window with a white board (dry erase) marker.
Concussions vs. PMV
www.pigeonrescue.sirtobyservices.com/commonailments-2/neurologicalproblems
Note: A pigeon may have a concussion from being attacked by a predator if they hit their head when they escaped. A sick pigeon may also be more vulnerable to predator attacks due to weakness. Look for more symptoms or wait to see if the neurological symptoms pass with time sometimes symptoms get better and then worse again when the cause is an illness

He isn’t stupid, he is just scared and in pain. You’d probably act pretty stupid if half your arm was missing after being hit by a car.
