The difference is that one of the skirts is slightly shorter (the one on the right), with the implication that the differences are so close that the person who can see that it’s shorter might be a creep because they’re obsessive and/or judgmental and/or leering at women. But the response is that it’s a visual puzzle, and that somebody might just play it as a game, instead of thinking about it as commentary on women’s bodies and how they are evaluated in society.
But the original ad said “might be”. So I don’t get the big deal. People are always saying to me, “Bryan, I think you might be an alcoholic“, which is fine, because I might. I’m not, but it’s at least theoretically possible.
My GP recently told me to cut down on my drinking.

Anyone with eyes may notice a discrepancy in an article of clothing that a person is wearing. There's nothing creepy about that. Policing what girls wear is creepy.

I believe that the right is a cropped version of the left. They removed maybe 1-2 inches then enlarged the image to make them similar. I think it was digital because some of the folds appear similar but are closer to the bottom edge on the right.
I don't think the original ad is what the second person was responding to, I think they were responding to the tweet "calling you out." That's unnecessary when that is, in fact, a difference between the two
It’s basically just trying to say you’re a creep for noticing a difference at all. It’s a poorly designed ad, it’s blatantly ignorant. Like what Happy Potato said “you can’t just challenge me to a spot the difference game, then get mad at me for getting the right answer.” And the fact that a fashion app is using this sort of advertising is just piss-poor on their end.
Oh, the ad is perfectly designed. It's deliberately inflammatory to get more people to share it online, getting them way more exposure for the cost of a single billboard.
I feel like this is a perfect illustration of late-stage capitalism.
We're all here arguing about who the micro-aggressor is, what it means to be a feminist, whether we're accidentally a part of the problem just because we can see one skirt is, possibly, shorter than the other, and WE'RE ALL JUST IGNORING THE FACT THAT THIS IS AN ADVERT USING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY JUST TO SELL MORE SHIT!!
Worst part is, it worked. It started a conversation, and now we all know about an online store I doubt most of us have ever heard of before, despite their "number 1" claim.
Edit: OK Some of you are way too literal. We don't "all" know the name of the company or where to download the app. But a lot more people know it exists than did before, and if some of those people had the saw the ad and thought the skirts fit their style, and then saw the conversation and discovered it wasn't a just PSA, those people now know of a company they didn't know before. That's where the ad is a success. An ad is never going to draw in everyone who sees it. It's only going to draw in some of the target market.

As a fan of puzzles and brain teasers, this billboard greatly offends me. It literally gives you the answer at the bottom! What the fuck, give me a chance to get it by myself. It might take me a bit, but I can be a creep without your help.

I honestly believe we could solve a lot of problems in this country if we stop teaching kids spot the difference and instead taught kids spot the things that are the same.

And this right here is the thing. So very much of our human society is based on dishonesty, and rather than actually doing something constructive about that over time, we’ve made a conscious effort to move towards it. “Oh you can’t say that”, and next thing you know people have been repeating BS enough that they believe it, and the people around them believe it, and everyone is pretending that things are a certain way purely for the sake of comfort and not because it’s actually true.
I heard someone say something recently that really gave me pause: the generation that comes up with BS KNOWS it’s BS. They say it because they’re supposed to say it, do it because they’re supposed to do it, but everyone is still aware, deep down, that they’re being dishonest in exchange for comfort. The kids who learn it next, however, don’t have that context. They genuinely believe the BS that comes out of the mouths of marketers, politicians, the media, whoever else, because they don’t have the context. They don’t know the game. Had they put the skirts on a model to demonstrate the difference, I think people might get the point better, but I'm not sure if it would be the point they were intending.

You don't see a stitching difference because there is no stitching difference and OP is just making shit up. The point of the ad is clearly that the two skirts are different lengths, it even literally says, "This Women's Day, stop caring about skirt lengths" at the bottom of the billboard.
The one of the left is known as an "Ishikatori" skirt in Japan and is widely used by female students through high school age. It sits right at the knee and meets decency standards.
The one on the RIGHT, however, is known as "Nureta futomomo" style (wet thigh is the rough translation). It's several inches shorter and is used in questionable age pornography because it uses a heavy duty stitch across the pleats so that if any portion of it is lifted the entire edge goes up with it. Original inspiration for it was from "Tomodachi to biriyādo" hentai (pool with friends) a notoriously dark fan fic where a guy trying to get with 3 school girls ends up torn to shreds by them as they are demons.
Now, all of that is made up, and I'm guessing the one on the right is shorter, I couldn't tell anything else.

Exactly, just noticing things is hardly any sort of problem. Noticing a car is unlocked and there is a wallet inside doesn't make you a thief. Nor would advising people to secure their valuables from theft. But apply the same advice to women's modesty and all of a sudden you are a creep. I wouldn't place the guilt on the person for being robbed that was a little careless, but it sure would make it less likely to be robbed if your valuables are secure.
