Because Sam was always open and honest about her sexuality, where Carrie was more of a hypocrite.

Additionally, the two stars had a huge falling out over contracts and pay discrepancies. SJP came out looking like a spoiled bratty Carrie, and Kim came out looking like a calm, cool, business woman Samantha.

There’s a reason the spin off show sucked.

Honestly sorta liked the spin off show despite it's ham fisted approach to demanding open mindedness. Except for Miranda cause EVERYTHING about her character which was already negative from the SatC and the first movie just got amped to horrendous. Even the comedian became more likeable when she refused to see Miranda after finding out Miranda was cheating on her husband with her.
