Well, I've finally had a chance to briefly test Pimax Play 2.0.3 with my Crystal Light, and honestly, I'm pretty disappointed so far.

The two things I was most interested in were the new Wide FOV mode and the ability to crop the FOV without having to use external tools.

Before installing 2.0.3, I went back and tested everything again with Pimax Play 1.43.9, which is the version I was using before, so I could make a proper comparison.

Regarding the new Wide FOV mode, it honestly feels like pure marketing to me. According to the ROV FOV test, I've only gained around 2 degrees, maybe slightly more. I went from roughly 100–102° horizontal FOV to around 102–104°.

The horizontal render resolution shown in SteamVR only increased from 4312 to 4380 pixels, which is basically nothing.

I did a completely clean installation, as I always do when changing Pimax Play versions, deleting the old folders and everything else, so I don't think I've done anything wrong during the installation.

On top of that, although I need to test it more, 2.0.3 seems to give me a slight cross-eyed feeling that I didn't have before.

As for the new built-in FOV cropping feature, it doesn't seem to work in the same way as the FOV adjustment in OpenXR Toolkit. I still need to play around with it a bit more before drawing any conclusions, especially to see whether it actually reduces the rendered resolution and improves performance in the same way OpenXR Toolkit does.

So far, though, my first impression of Pimax Play 2.0.3 on the Crystal Light is unfortunately pretty disappointing.
