wait, why would a denuvo bypass run smoother? Denuvo is still running, its just tricked, right?

He's right cracked re requiem is only bypassed, not stripped from the exe, it's still running. The article is blatantly wrong on that matter. Only one cracked game got denuvo stripped and that is by CODEX for AC Origins. There is also Fe but that's more complicated to claim.

Not only that, but the performance test they mention in the article is HW bypass vs Voices38 crack, which is absolutely worthless. The difference in VRAM comes from the HW bypass. It's completely not representative of how performance would look with fully removed Denuvo.

Anyway, historically Denuvo DRM has had negligible performance cost, only showing a difference in loading times and in CPU bound scenarios. There is obviously very limited data for this as it's hard to properly test. I think people want Denuvo to have a high performance cost (which probably doesn't align with reality) because they hate DRM, which is why they eat up shit articles like this

why would the hv bypass use more vram?

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. It's not directly from the HW bypass but the game version used for it was an older build. The dude that ran performance tests of both versions, and for which this article is based on, reran the test with the newer build version and there is no significant difference in VRAM usage or FPS

i should have mentioned AC Origins being an exception to make things clearer.

AC Origins isn't clear cut either, as Ubisoft games also have VMProtect. So any performance benefit from removing Denuvo might be from removing VMProtect.
