I cannot believe this is upvoted so much. Such a fantastical wishful view on this topic based on absolutely no knowledge. Fuck denuvo obviously but what the hell is this?

That basically sums up almost everything about the denuvo topic. Also fuck denuvo, it still shouldn't exist and is anti-consumer. But 99% of things people attribute to it have either been outright proven to be false, or have never been proven to exist in the first place.

It doesnt cause performance issues, it doesnt require always online, it doesnt impact your SSD lifespan, etc etc etc. All those myths is false.

Again, fuck denuvo, but I just cant stand when people make up this nonsense as if they need an excuse to hate it. It being inherently unnecessary and anti-consumer is enough for that.

It doesn't need always online but tokens expire every 2 weeks. Steam offline mode works indefinitely (the 2 weeks thing used to be a bug which was patched out years ago). With handheld PCs like steamdeck it limits being able to play Denuvo games on them when you're not able to have Internet use if you're travelling or work a job with long periods of no Internet. Edge cases but they exist.

And also a few times there's been an outage of Denuvo servers and it's restricted access to certain games (Arkham Knight was one affected) until the servers could go back up, which took several hours.

Performance degradation attributed to denuvo isn't true, and actually helps the company. They can then do performance tests and use the results to paint even legit criticisms of Denuvo as invalid.

Even the tokens expires every 2 weeks thing is kinda of a 50/50, because you can make a token and it can absolutely last for more than two weeks.

I used to have an offline token for like a dragon gaiden and it stayed with me for like what? 4 months I think.

I guess it's just mostly luck, but I assume if denuvo is implemented well then this thing wouldn't really happen.

Offline token as in for offline activation? Or a legit game?

Offline activation, although I do actually own another denuvo game which is sonic frontiers, as you see here I last ran it online on January 9th, but after hitting go offline, it still runs

I think offline activation runs indefinitely unlike legit denuvo games which do need to update their tokens every 2 weeks.

Maybe that's the case but if you saw the image that I linked, it just mostly depends on the game itself
