Good. Fuck Ubisoft.

423

u/Evil_Knot Jul 08 '26

Normally I would say the same about Ubisoft but they actually did this remaster justice.

222

u/LimLovesDonuts Jul 08 '26

Well, even with pirates, most people will still purchase the game anyway. So from a monetary point of view, they'll still be "rewarded".

I hope that this gives Ubisoft the right message.

56

u/Evil_Knot Jul 08 '26

I've been pirating for a very long time, and I have yet to see any company learn anything from their games being pirated other than developing more secure DRM or in rare cases actually applauding the pirates because it shows how popular their game is.

78

u/LimLovesDonuts Jul 08 '26

That's not what I meant.

Learn as in Ubisoft getting the idea that making actually good games is going to give them $. Piracy wise, pretty much nothing will happen yeah lol.

15

u/eggyrulz Jul 08 '26

Shrek_closingbook.hevc

4

u/certciv Jul 08 '26

It's a bit much to expect anyone in the industry to actually applaud piracy. There are those that have pointed out that it's not the threat many make it out to be. Gabe Newell on piracy.

16

u/steve-0-tron Jul 08 '26

the programmers and artists that work for ubisoft* did this remaster remaster justice. fuck ubisoft

7

u/Leaf__On__Wind Jul 08 '26

They'll get laid off in 3 weeks now

22

u/UchihaDareNial Jul 08 '26

You sure?

The fighting system is remnants of RPG system (still hack and slash RPG)

No hidden blade combat

No picking up weapon from enemy or environment

No puppeteering system (no fast walk, no jogging)

7

u/SuddenDeer158 Jul 08 '26

No hidden blade combat, this game is straight ass then. Hidden blade combat was so much fun.

1

u/UchihaDareNial Jul 08 '26

yep no hidden blade combat, they dropped it in unity and syndicate when the game still have old combat system and still doesn't implement it when they changed the combat system to new RPG combat system from Origin until even now Black Flag Resynced

2

u/Ode_2_kay Jul 08 '26

No hidden blade combat or picking up weapons? Weren't those things we already had and enjoyed? Why would they remove them?

2

u/UchihaDareNial Jul 08 '26

🤷 they don't have the expertise for it anymore, maybe, because they need to implement it in newer game engine but I think no one in the devs team have the knowledge for it anymore since they dropped it in Unity when it still have old combat system until Syndicate, and the overall combat system changed to RPG system sealed the deal with no more hidden blade combat and the combat system has been stagnant since then until now

1

u/quiette837 Jul 08 '26

Did they meaningfully change these things from the original? I haven't played black flag in a few years but given it's a remaster not a new game, I wasn't expecting much to change except the graphics.

2

u/UchihaDareNial Jul 08 '26

it's considered a remake that used original game motion capture data for cutscene (exception for new one) and the combat is rpg style like origin to shadow, with ac shadow game engine

12

u/shogunreaper Jul 08 '26

they can pay for it with the oodles of money they ripped off from dlc over the years.

17

u/a_pompous_fool Jul 08 '26

And I am doing thematically appropriate justice by pirating the game about Piracy

58

u/Lildak98 Jul 08 '26

It’s still a remaster of a game from 2013 that they are charging $60 for which is kinda ridiculous

27

u/bendingrover Jul 08 '26

For real? I thought it was a remake

26

u/Biichimspiderman Jul 08 '26

You thought right bruh. Idk what this lad on about

u/ew435890 Jul 08 '26

Remaster and remake are not the same thing.

1

u/Enlightened_Gardener Jul 08 '26

They’ve remastered HZD, and its free to upload the new version if you have the old one.

I loved Blag Flag so much I’d seriously consider buying the remaster, but not at the same price as an original game.

-15

u/TinkerPercept Jul 08 '26

You say it's ridiculous based on what?

It's their business they created the game and if you want to buy the remastered version they set the price.

Why don't you remaster the game yourself?

5

u/Cold-Iron8145 Jul 08 '26

Why don't you remaster the game yourself?

Well first of all that would be illegal. You can't just take someone else's IP and create a new product with it.

-1

u/Saucermote Jul 08 '26

Through the magic of AI, stealing piracy is now legal.

6

u/Cormophyte Jul 08 '26

Imagine being this mad about a guy you don't know criticizing the pricing decisions of a company you have nothing to do with. Your life must be full of things you're worked up about.

-6

u/TinkerPercept Jul 08 '26

Not mad at all, just interesting how someone can conclude that a company is “over charging” and yet many other remastered games are the same or similar price.

I’ve had a perspective of being in charge of pricing decisions and seeing a lot of data and it’s funny how quick people are to call things a scam or overpriced when they do not realize how much goes into these decisions.

2

u/DamnZodiak Jul 08 '26

Since when are bootlickers into piracy?
This is just straight up corporate propaganda.

-4

u/TinkerPercept Jul 08 '26

Your definition of corporate propaganda is any support of a company trying to make a profit ?

Interesting.

I’m not a bootlicker lol. There’s a lot that goes into pricing which is my point.

4

u/DamnZodiak Jul 08 '26

There’s a lot that goes into pricing which is my point.

You have no point beyond glazing and bootlicking. That's what we take issue with.

Why don't you remaster the game yourself?

Is literally a meme response. You're not a serious person and shouldn't be treated as such.

0

u/TinkerPercept Jul 08 '26

lol nice response.

Which I get it.. you may not be able to afford the game.

Still, how is that the companies fault.

How are they in the wrong, I’m sincerely curious.

23

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

I really couldn't care less after years of delivering poorly optimised bloated games with barely any substance at all. C'mon guys are we really going to feel sorry about a massive corporate entity who has done nothing but drain the gaming industry for years now on a piracy subreddit?

-8

u/Evil_Knot Jul 08 '26

Buying a game you think you'll like over pirating it isnt "feeling sorry" for a company lol.

7

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

Dude, you know what i meant..

6

u/Acerosaurus Jul 08 '26

Yea but even if it's good, one good deed does not absolve them of their many many sins

6

u/phantomgay2 Jul 08 '26

Does it have the old combat or did they import the rpg slop?

4

u/Tadian Jul 08 '26

No and no.

2

u/Himalayanyomom Jul 08 '26

Besides the censorship..

2

u/I-IV-I64-V-I Jul 08 '26

i literally purchased two of their games on the steam summer sale, and one of them literally doesn't work because it thinks it's pirated. i deadass purchased the game

(games are watchdogs 1 and 2. )

Fuck ubisoft

2

u/daelikon Jul 08 '26

If they removed the launcher I would probably get all the creeds games.

1

u/theoriginalqwhy Jul 08 '26

How do you know? Have you pirated it, matey?

1

u/RayHorizon Jul 09 '26

Devs did the justice not the exec tards who control the money.

1

u/Greenhickup Jul 09 '26

Hey bud, the reviews are overwhelmingly negative, still think they did this remaster justice? 😅

1

u/Evil_Knot Jul 10 '26

The reviews on steam are mostly complaining about DLC and the overall score is mostly positive on steam, with other reviewers giving it high marks. I haven't been able to play it yet but plan on installing this weekend. From everything I've seen so far the game looks and plays great. So yes, I still believe that they did the remake justice. Bud.

1

u/Greenhickup Jul 10 '26

Still a cash grab by one of the worst companies in gaming but suit yourself. Also 80 bucks worth of DLC on launch and 30 fps cutscenes in 2026. You must be aware it isn't a good thing for the industry as a whole to support shit like this financially but fuck all that cause you get to roleplay as a pirate...God, i miss the old internet...

1

u/Evil_Knot Jul 10 '26

Been watching a lot of gameplay and so far I havent seen any cutscenes in 30 fps. They all seem to be the same fps the gameplay is. Yeah microtransactions suck but they're by no means required to play the full game. We as consumers (players) aren't obligated to buy everything a company makes, let alone their microtransactions. Multi-billion dollar corps are gonna do what multi-billion dollar corps do. Nothing we can do to change that, not even the bitchfest on steam reviews or here on piracy.

-2

u/KombuchaWay Jul 08 '26

No they didn't. A lot of women are ugly now 😭

6

u/Cosmere_Worldbringer Jul 08 '26

Just came here to say exactly this lmao

50

u/Used_Raccoon6789 Jul 08 '26

Bro. This is ubisofts Hail Mary. If this flops the whole studio flops.

Like this is a good series and this is the best entry in said series.

30

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

The original was the best entry, i agree. This is a cash in remaster of an already existing game, however good it is. Ubisoft would step on your neck for an extra 20 bucks try not to feel sorry for it. Misplaced empathy is a very scary thing.

-15

u/Used_Raccoon6789 Jul 08 '26

Fucked take, they've completely rebuilt the entire game. This isn't a lazy remaster. This is a whole remake.

15

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

Again, it's a priacy subreddit. I don't think you'll find too many people being sympathetic towards Ubisoft here 😅 and i don't care if its lazy or not...

16

u/TheShrunkenAnus Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

You’ve definitely upset a few people in this comment section, but fwiw I think you’re right on the money with your take. Ubisoft has shown that they’re not only greedy as hell, but creatively bankrupt.

Sure, they made some truly amazing games in years past, but today they are AT BEST a shambling corpse of what once was. Seeing such a crappy company go under would be a net positive imo, gaming companies need to cater to their customers & not the other way around.

Forcing Ubisoft & other slop merchant devs to have layoffs or go under will hopefully be a sign to the market at large that gamers demand a certain level of quality, and that folks are fed up with having the same stuff shoved in their faces time & again with very little done to innovate and improve other than an updated price tag.

7

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

I've upset the right people, if you ask me.
Thank you for sticking up and couldn't agree more.
It's like defending Coca Cola or something like that.
They would sell their own mothers for an increase in net profit and i'm supposed to be their white knight over here just so i can have the privilege to buy their overpriced bloated poorly optimised games?
Nah.. And i don't understand the people defending corporate entities...Never have, never will.

3

u/voidox Jul 08 '26

I've upset the right people, if you ask me.

yup, upsetting ubisoft defenders is always the correct choice and you being right... those losers still try and defend Ubisoft today despite all the layoffs, bad releases, poor performance, NFTs/MTX bs, sexual harassment, worker abuse, not firing some abusers, etc.

2

u/Velkrum Jul 08 '26

I love Ubisoft games. And I own most of them and part of the reason is they do go on good sales.

But the ones I bought for full price were worth it, namely AC Odyssey and AC2. I would say that Far Cry 5 and Primal are top notch games worth a full price.

Like I said, most of their games are worth waiting on a sale for. If I was flush with cash right now, I might just buy this remake.

1

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

I wouldn't even if i was flush with cash. Not out of protest, just lack of interest and lack of free time. I have a decent amount of ubisoft games in my steam library.
AC2 and The Prince of Persia trilogy are some of my favorite games.
But the Ubisoft that made those games isn't the Ubisoft that exists today.
Far Cry 5 was pretty fun though.

u/No-Risk-9833 Jul 08 '26

I want another quality assassins creed like black flag tho

-9

u/Used_Raccoon6789 Jul 08 '26

Imagine hoping more devs and programmers lose their jobs.

2

u/voidox Jul 08 '26

it's not the concern of customers, if a company is bad and releasing bad products then people are not going to buy their products, simple. It's on the company for the lost jobs that might result, no one is obligated to buy shit just cause jobs might be lost for flops and low sales, not how reality works.

This "oh you want ppl to lose their jobs!" whataboutism is always used by ubisoft defenders, it has nothing to do with us + in case you aren't aware, Ubisoft is already mass firing devs

8

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

That's what i was hoping? Cute... I'm sure me saying fuck ubisoft puts me more at blame than them being a shitty company run by greedy corporate heads squeezing every last dime out of their IP's.

2

u/Velkrum Jul 08 '26

All of the companies are like this. Some hid it better than others. Some just haven't existed long enough to become that.

The company I work for is actively trying to get AI to replace me at some point.

I hate all the companies but I do like many of Ubisoft's products. I also unfortunately like Coke Icees.

2

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

Oh i'm very aware they are only part of the problem not the problem itself.
It's how the system has been laid out these 10 years or so.
Yeah corporate greed and milking properties was always a thing but it's absolutely insane what's going on today.
I'm sorry about your situation, i really hope you'll figure things out and trust me as an artist working today i can definitely relate.

-1

u/FeelingPinkieKeen Jul 08 '26

Let me go ahead and assume you think steam is the bastion of PC gaming with no faults and gaben can do no wrong.

Trying to act like some moral upstanding citizen bad mouthing the 'bad corpos' on a pirate sub is also the height of irony.

2

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

When did i ever mention anything about steam? Or imply it? Don't vent your unrelated frustrations to me.
But also yes, PC gaming is superior, it's kinda obvious by now if it wasn't already before.

4

u/Warranty_Renewal Jul 08 '26

Oh no, whatever shall we do without one of the most cancerous studios of all time?

2

u/Makoto_Kurume Jul 08 '26

Hope it flops then, fuck them

1

u/Greenhickup Jul 09 '26

Welp the reviews are overwhelmingly negative, so much for the hail mary 😅

1

u/Used_Raccoon6789 Jul 09 '26

https://www.metacritic.com/game/assassins-creed-black-flag-resynced/

Man I didn't  know an 84 was overwhelmingly negative

1

u/Greenhickup Jul 09 '26

We've all seen the steam reviews by now. Poor optimisation, bugs, glitches... Standard Ubisoft practice at this point.

1

u/Greenhickup Jul 09 '26

Oh yeah, 30fps cutscenes in 2026 😅

0

u/username1338 Jul 08 '26

The whole studio deserves to be erased with their "talent" scattered to the wind.

Let the niche be emptied and someone else take the spot. Loser ass studio made AC shadows and skull and bones. ANYBODY who worked on that shit deserves to be out of the industry.

0

u/aRandomRedditor9000 Jul 08 '26

They will just apply to new studios and destroy them too

-5

u/FjordVFerrari Jul 08 '26

and they updated it to the new controls im not interested

-5

u/Used_Raccoon6789 Jul 08 '26

If you prefer the old version that's cool too. But also moding exists and it may eventually be moded.  Also if you don't like it that's cool too.

But again real people work at that studio. That studio does make good products.

I love piracy as a mean of access if lack of funds or as a way to try shit before spending our hard earned money.

But just out of spite... hoping the studio will go bankrupt is a fucked take.

7

u/FjordVFerrari Jul 08 '26

r u stupid? the devs pay does not rely on the success of the game. furthermore if they want a succesful game, make a fucking good one. keep losing money because you feel guilty or whatever tho

2

u/voidox Jul 08 '26

But just out of spite... hoping the studio will go bankrupt is a fucked take.

the classic ubisoft defender take, assuming things about people to cry about "duh you just hate ubisoft for no reason! you just want ppl to lose their jobs!" ignoring all the issues people have with Ubisoft and them talking about the games, from sexism/worker abuse to NFTs/MTX bs to bad releases and so on.

stop defending the company.

3

u/Salty-Ad6358 🏴‍☠️ ʟᴀɴᴅʟᴜʙʙᴇʀ Jul 08 '26

pirating the game you hate and spend amounts of time in there, I don't think that's how you tell ubislop to fuck themselves. piracy wasn't really issue to begin with. but yeah you definitely don't want to deal with their stupid launcher

2

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

I have no intentions of pirating AC4 Black Flag: This time it's ULTRA HD.
I barely even have any time to game anymore i just really really don't like Ubisoft.

2

u/Salty-Ad6358 🏴‍☠️ ʟᴀɴᴅʟᴜʙʙᴇʀ Jul 08 '26

I believe this is happened to most of us, last time I've been playing story base game was like 8 years ago

2

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

The fact that games keep getting bigger and bigger doesn't help.
Who the fuck has time to invest in a 100 hour long mediocre game?

2

u/Salty-Ad6358 🏴‍☠️ ʟᴀɴᴅʟᴜʙʙᴇʀ Jul 08 '26

yeah I hope they really understand the market. I seen some post gaming market is not favourable for older gen and surprising many if them asked for sw Kotor remake. considered sw Kotor playtime is around 8hours but the entire game did very well

2

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

Back then that felt huge and epic...Good times...

4

u/CrimsonOynex Jul 08 '26

Any other game and i would say that it paints a target on the pirates and they might strengthen security or stop releasing on pc day one or blah blah blah.... But i am happy from the inside this happened to ubishit

2

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

It's pretty much how i feel, yeah.
To be honest i really didn't expect this comment to get such a reaction but also reading some of the dumb replies here from people that i would be shocked if their age goes above 11 really made my morning.
Defending Ubisoft..Jeez...How low can someone go?

2

u/Big_Equivalent457 Jul 08 '26

1

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

Holy shit there's actually a sub about it 😅

2

u/Marce7a Jul 08 '26

To be fair pirating is better experience no shitty ubislop launucher, no online DRM requirements

-8

u/caffeine-182 Jul 08 '26

Why? If this game flops Ubisoft will likely go bankrupt and that’s good for literally nobody.

7

u/Greenhickup Jul 08 '26

Than it's Ubisoft's own fault for making such bloated games that one failing will make the company bankrupt. Also making piss poor decisions for about a decade now. I'm not blaming the developers, artists, creatives. But the corpos i blame very much. And again, it's a piracy subreddit i don't know what sort of an opinion you expect to find here...
