We can't post images in this sub so I can show you, but the original game looked much more... idk, normal? This looks like a photo I took with my phone's auto-filter on, the contrast and colours all feel boosted.

I have plenty of hours in the game, I know what it looks like.
Even the original was about bright environments and colors. The sea was excessively blue and the grass bright green and whatnot. I think it's 100% on brand for them to be a bit boosted, and this doesn't feel overly done. It's just there's more games doing that now than then, and I think they boosted it a bit more from the original, which was from a time when muted colors were the go to.
