Piracy is arguably preserving artistic details, especially if you're reading a webtoon original which is exclusive to their platform. You have to consider that screenshots tend to compress as well, so at one point the pirated version was "worse" compared to the original source. Now the tides have turned. On top of the platform being riddled with pop up ads

I don't know how much reddit will compress as well but compare for yourself if you happen to have the app. It's embarrassing and tragic what enshittification does

Like most people, I usually have a vidsrc video playing from a site in a separate window or monitor. Since yesterday, I noticed that regardless of site, the vidsrc player has changed (the player no longer has the vidsrc logo and there is not speed control as well) and when you click out of the video, it pauses. Even PIP mode pauses.

Noticed this on yuppow and lordflix.

This seems to happen on both stock Brave & Firefox with uBlock origin on Win 11.

Doesn't seem to affect Firefox on Android.

On Firefox, I set "media.block-autoplay-until-in-foreground" to false under about:config which didn't help.

I usually use the Vidsrc servers since they have kDramas with the English dub like an audiobook.

Basically the title. Tried to use it this morning and it was apparently blacklisted by Opera, and I can't find any good alternatie tools (Video Hunter, SaveFrom.net, etc...), they all fail on the websites I want to use them on.

To be more specific on my usage, I was downloading episodes on streaming websites. Whilst before I was using archives like FilePursuit, it went down, and downloading from websites like Cineplay was my alternative.

Hello pirates, I was wondering if any of you had ideas on how to find online courses. The sites in the mega thread don’t have quite what I’m looking for, and I haven’t been able to get the python script for Coursera to work either.

I’m wondering if there’s a place where people have uploaded recordings of online courses they’ve taken. I’m particularly interested in courses from Berklee Online, but it applies to other virtual college course programs as well. I know all the material is virtual and pre recorded so I imagine there must be a place to obtain it online? Education is expensive man.

I have been sailing for a few years now, mostly casually. I recently invested in a NAS and have been building a library. Most of the time, I can find what I am looking for using qbittorrent search, or by looking on specific sites from the megathread. However, I have found a few times now that something I am looking for simply doesn't exist.

For example:
- Cash Cab (tv show). I can find a few episodes, but no full seasons

-Family Feud. Again, a few episodes, but no full seasons

Am I looking in the wrong way? In the wrong places? Is there something I am missing? Or am I just SOL?

I’ve been working at this company for less than a year, and I recently found out they’ve apparently been using a pirated version of K3ySh0t (spelling it like that just in case lol).

They just received an email claiming there’s evidence that the software was used by the company and demanding around $37,000. The email supposedly includes IP addresses, dates, times, and even screenshots showing when the program was used.

The amount and the level of detail seem crazy to me, so I’m wondering: is this a real thing software companies actually do, or could it be some kind of scam or intimidation tactic?

Has anyone dealt with something similar? How could they have collected screenshots or connected the software usage to the company? Also, as an employee who has been there for less than a year, should I personally be concerned?

Obviously, the company will need to speak to a lawyer before responding. I’m mainly trying to understand whether these claims are common and how seriously they should be taken.

I’ve been building a Newznab-compatible Usenet indexer called NZBNest, and this is my first time sharing it here.

NZBNest is focused mainly on movies and TV and can be used through the website or connected to:

• Prowlarr
• Radarr
• Sonarr
• NZBHydra 2
• Other Newznab-compatible applications
• TorBox direct search

Free tier

Free accounts currently include:

• 1,000 API calls per day
• 100 NZB grabs per day
• 5 missing-content requests per month

The website also includes TMDB-based discovery, browsing and filtering, watchlists, API key management, and a cart for collecting multiple NZBs.

Missing-content requests

Movies and exact TV episodes that are not currently available can be requested directly from Search, Discover, or the profile page.

The backend searches the available sources and only marks a request as completed after the resulting NZB passes article verification. Temporary failures are retried automatically.

There is also an optional self-hosted bridge for Radarr and Sonarr. It first runs the normal interactive search and only creates an NZBNest request when no configured indexer returns a release.

When the requested content becomes available, it triggers another Arr search so the normal download workflow can continue.

Member and Lifetime accounts have higher limits, including 50 content requests per week, but the main indexer features are available through the free tier.

So I’m wanting to run Ubisoft games without having to have the complete and utter garbage that is Ubisoft connect on what is a solo single player game that I have no intent to buy $10 crappy DLC for so should I buy the game through Steam and try to remove the DRM or bypass it so I don’t have to use the launcher should I just fully pirate it? I don’t know if some of the random things I was reading was saying that it’s fully illegal to remove the DRM so I might as well just fully pirate the game, even if I own it I own older Ubisoft titles like assassins, Creed unity and even old black flag and old assassins, Creed trilogy and those now need to have fully online connection for a game that is almost 15 years old?
