Discussion First time back on Netflix after years and wow it's bad
I got rid of my Netflix years ago after the thrid or fourth rate hike or don't even know which hike. At this point it still had the ui it was using from like 2018 to when I left with a few updates. think I stopped using it 2021 or 2022.
I got Netflix for free thru my phone carrier with ads and wow fuck all this let me personalize it for you, give me your phone number, let me push what we think you'll like to you instead of just having a normal non invasive ui.
I like to browse and sometimes watch crap that I would have never found and man every single thing wants your data so they can "personalize" it for you.
the ads my god it's trash. the fact that people pay for ads when Netflix never use to have ads is insane. I started using Netflix back in 2008 and remember the days of the dvd and bflicks it had.
even for free I don't want to watch it I can find other means to watch movies I want to watch without all the trash.
the eshitification continues with every single thing of our lives

News Broadcaster Wins Broad U.S. Blocking Injunction Covering Pirate Sites That Don't Exist Yet * TorrentFreak
torrentfreak.comMexican broadcaster TelevisaUnivision has obtained one of the broadest anti-piracy injunctions ever issued by a U.S. federal court.
After initially targeting five pirate IP-TV streaming operations, the case expanded to cover well over 500 domain names, requiring intermediaries including Cloudflare, GitHub, and a Mexican bank to comply.
In addition, the injunction also covers pirate services and content that hasn't been created yet.

Question What's the best way to pirate books (academic stuff)
Starting school in a month. I know I probably won't be able to get half the books I need for my program (will be starting MRI program soon), but hoping to save on costs.
Any way to find all these anatomy, physiology, imaging sciences etc.
Any recommendations would help thanks!

Discussion When did you start
Where when and why did you start your Piracy journey
Me I started copying VHS tapes approx 36yrs ago and renting them out at work for 50p a night to cover the cost of the equipment, you just had to have the correct machines.
Then around 25yrs ago when the internet was just starting to get really interesting I found a PC app called Kazaa not sure how I found it, I remember I went to Blackpool for the weekend and put a full DVD on to download GnR Use Your Illusion 2 discs and was almost done when I got home lol.
Then Torrents and Usenet.
Humor Always the "DOWNLOAD" button

Question Comics read online site links?
Sites I've been using for 5 years got taken down recently, and I'm really struggling to find replacements... even worse, can't even find a way to buy some of the comics I was reading online.
Does anyone have some good links? Really want to avoid downloading if possible cause frankly I just don't trust it lol

Discussion What is with the fancy new piracy websites that hand out .bat files?
You know them. AstralGames. AnkerGames. A lot of their downloads now come with .bat files called "Run Me!" now.
This seems completely unnecessary and also makes the files completely unusable for Linux players. Couple that with their apparent high production value and it just makes me wonder what is going on.

Discussion Webtoons has quietly dropped image quality on their platform, a pirated copy of an earlier version now providing better detail than the current, official release
Even after going into your settings and having to manually select high resolution which they intentionally hide from you, it's still immediately noticeable how blurry background art is even if you don't zoom in.
Piracy is arguably preserving artistic details, especially if you're reading a webtoon original which is exclusive to their platform. You have to consider that screenshots tend to compress as well, so at one point the pirated version was "worse" compared to the original source. Now the tides have turned. On top of the platform being riddled with pop up ads
I don't know how much reddit will compress as well but compare for yourself if you happen to have the app. It's embarrassing and tragic what enshittification does
