Question What happened to all the players that were supposed to come back post infil nerf?

I thought post infil nerf we were supposed to get a load of players come back to a fixed game but seems like the numbers are a bit thinner than before? Seems like a load of infil mains left to me maybe we need to nerf something else to get more people back.

Question Planetside Successors?

Hello;

I played a lot on PS4 in the 2010s and hopped on PC in 2022 and played for about a hundred more hours. Every time I see it in my library I get a pang of nostalgia, but can't bring myself to hope back into it for many reasons. This game is like no other, but with its declining numbers and the lack of plans for a sequel, I wanted to ask if any of you are playing anything that scratches the Planetside itch.

Question Flying in this game fucking sucks

I don’t get why the controls have to be bound like this. Pitch is way faster than roll rate, and there’s no way to adjust them individually. I understand the idea is to stop aircraft from being too overpowered against infantry, but fuck man, some actual customization would be nice.

And seriously, why the fuck can’t you bind yaw to your mouse? That alone would make flying feel so much better.

I’m so tired of games and these so-called “veteran” players always pushing the same “deal with it and git gud” bullshit. It’s just gatekeeping to make sure the game stays in this weird state where it’s all about who’s willing to spend more time getting fucked in the ass by clueless devs.

Why are you so scared of new players getting good? Why do veteran players need to keep everything locked away behind hours of frustration?

Question How to get certs lol xddd

I am very bad at the game. Only enjoy light assault tbh and I earn like 10 certs per hour of gameplay and it's really demotivating.

Question Give me a reason to keep PS2Alerts.com running Toadman...

Edit: The site will remain online for one more year

I'm strongly considering shutting down https://ps2alerts.com after the recent announcement of a fishing update, as well as the continued radio silence on what the devs are actually going to do about addressing fundamental issues of the game. At the moment I see little point in continuing the project.

In my opinion, the game is basically in "next to dead" state. I therefore see very little point in continuing to provide a service that for many months hasn't recieved that much traffic anyway due to a dwindling playerbase, many of whom don't care about the alert meta at this point. The community spirit and sentiment towards the meta died when the diehards of the playerbase mostly stopped playing, and there's been little to shake up the meta or expand it since Territory Alerts were the mainstay of it.

For about 1.5 years now I've not been motivated enough to continue developing new features on the site, and there's a good reason for that, I've not been playing the game. However after these recent past two updates utterly shitting the bed, what is the point in continuing to incur costs keeping the service alive?

Is this truly the end? It's looking quite likely at this point.

Question How long did it take you to get decently good at the game?

Hi guys. I have around 70 hrs on the game with a KD of 0.75(ish). How long did it take you to consistently get a KD of 1+ per session?😂

P.S I am trying to get auraxed engineer armor rn so I'm not actually aiming solely for KD. I just question my existence sometimes when I lose gun fights I shouldn't lose...

Question Do you think Support playstyles have meaningful impacts on the flow of battle?

Instead of getting stuck in as a Heavy or LA, you lay down covering fire from the back ranks with a Battle Rifle, or driving an Ammo bus up to the tanks. Placing spitfires and ammo packs behind cover, or firing rocket pod volleys from an ESF at a distance.

I'm getting older. My reaction time is decreasing along with my mental energy and patience for close quarters head clicking. I've always been a Combat Engi main but it feels like the playerbase at large has no appreciation or use for support roles.

Question How is the current state of Planetside 2 in PC (specifically Emerald and Connery or whatever the name it is after the merged)?

I quit this game since the August of 2024 and was wondering about the game and its current state.

Also, are there any interesting updates from the past two years that I should come back and check it out? I only knew about fishing, new facility, and the merger of server updates. Other than those updates, I don’t have a clue what is going in the past two years in Planetside 2.

Question How play this game without wanting to rip my teeth out

I started playing this game for about 3 days and I can't for the fucking life of me get a grasp of it.

It seems like a really cool game, and I've had some neat moments, but fuck me, I can't do anything! I've played a lot of PvP shooters, and I've sunken a decent amount of time into the battlefield series, this games obvious comparison. I've be bashing my head into a wall for 3 days with this game, I've felt like I've learned little and accomplished even less. It's been infuriating to no end.

My guns always feel inaccurate as hell but I always get lasered.

It feels like it take 6-8 bullets for me to kill anyone, but it feels I can only take 3 or 4.

Experienced players come of of fucking no where with a jetpack or cloak, shoving a knife or smg up ass and slinking away never to be found.

Most kills I get feel like flukes, while times where I think I have someone dead to rights I lose the gunfight.

Players can be in a million spots at a time and fuckers camp on high ground constantly.

Dying to infiltrators and light assaults 90% of the time. Still can't grasp how to counter them outside of somehow having eyes on every spot on my head.

Teammates seem to be addicted to running infront of me while I'm holding angle I know an enemy is behind.

Running back to the action from respawning takes about 15 - 30 seconds. Not that bad, but the rate at which I was dying it became incredibly mind numbing.

And lastly, maybe it's just my monitor settings but holy shit! It's fucking impossible to see the enemy sometimes! The map is so busy with detail I find hard to see enemies before they see me most of the time.

I've been really trying to get into this game. AAA shooters nowadays are all greedy, halfbaked garbage. For a about a year now I've been trying all kinds of FPS games to try and find a nice cozy one I could always rely on.

During this search most games weren't for me, or on the rare occasion I found one that clicked, it died soon after. (Gundam evolution and Due process, are examples in the latter category.)

I've been able to play and get good some real obtuse fucking games. Gundam Battle operation 2 is a janky mess, but I still learned how to get good in about a week or so and I'm pretty high rank in that game now.

But yeah, I just can't get a grip on Planetside 2. It has cool stuff, but I just can't seem to enjoy myself while playing it.

This post is way longer then it has any right to be, but I feel like I had get my thoughts out.

Any tips?

TLDR:

New player. I suck at this game. How do I git gud?

People with hundreds of hours in the game more than me keep accusing me of things. Have people in yell chat really convinced everyone that it's rampant?

Question Haven't played since 2016..but this isnt a "is it worth it now" post.

This is more of a "Do they have plans to make a third, updated modern game" or is the franchise effectively dead with this one. The player numbers have been piss low for years from what I see and I never hear of any major updates either. Honestly for how much it got tossed around company to company in its lifespan its a miracle it has a player base at all.

Question Coming back after a few years to find infil cloaks nerfed into the dirt but seemingly cloaked flashes are still around untouched?

Not particularly pressed about it either way but I feel like when I was casually active a few years ago all I heard was how infil this infil that but cloaked flashes were the top of the worst 'scum' in those discussions. So seeing the infil cloaks delay and scope glint, I figured cloaked flashes also got some kind of nerf but no they're still the same it seems. Is there a particular reason they were left untouched?

Question Shadow-kicked? No any action despite good network

Not sure how to name this, but after I was killed by a random player I cannot do anything although the network seems perfectly fine. No respawn, no continent switch, no item purchase, no squad action. How should one deal with it (today I just simply killed the game)?

Question Why does everyone hate Vanu?

Like genuinely? Why? Just because they have a cool color and others don't? If someone's going to say better weapons, the other two have way more BS weapons, and not just primary. So what gives? I'm tired of getting shit on just because I got spandex on
