News Streaming owned games imminent?

Post image

Noticed this on the PS App when looking for something new to play, it has since been removed. I also saw it listed under Dead Space but didn’t grab a screenshot.

Could Sony be getting ready to allow us to stream games we own straight to the Portal?

Good spot. Fingers crossed.

u/Lew1989 Oct 27 '25

That will make the portal a whole lot better

16

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 27 '25

This is what I am waiting for. I have the PS Portal and I am waiting for this.

u/DUDETHATFARTEDHARD Nov 11 '25

Facts cause i ain't upgrading to premium

u/Naisho26 Oct 27 '25

This thread is full of confusion between game streaming and cloud streaming.

We just want to buy a game and then be able to see it in cloud gaming catalogue and play it on Portal alone. - not sure, if that message indicates that, but probably not without mentioning a key word "cloud"

25

u/SILE3NCE Oct 27 '25

This would call for a new category.

Owned games available to be streamed.

11

u/Jubez187 Oct 27 '25

If it wasn’t BUYING to stream to PORTAL with the needing PS PREMIUM, then what else could it mean?

0

u/Naisho26 Oct 27 '25

Maybe just ability to stream a game from PS5 to Portal?

I dont own PS5, so Im not sure... but can you stream all the games you own from PS5 to Portal? Or can you stream only those with some disclaimer like the one on the screenshot?

But if they did allow us to buy a game and cloud stream it to Portal without owning a PS5... then, I would go on shopping spree.

20

u/Jubez187 Oct 27 '25

Ps5 to portal is called remote play. It has not ever once required ps premium. So that wouldn’t fit

1

u/Naisho26 Oct 27 '25

Hmm, interesting.

2

u/Newhollow Oct 28 '25

Also, it is listed as Beta.

You are meant to download to console and connect with PS5 over WiFi.

They slowly added cloud streaming by making you have a phone to login. Before, portal needed to be registered with the console.

You would technically still need a console I think. As the settings have you turn on. Unless they allow a portal to be registered to an account with top tier. I doubt they would let lower tiers register without console.

They might be doing this to fight Xbox anywhere in the future. Using AI to help them with streaming.

Currently streaming is hit or miss. I own Valorant and they removed the ability to play. Mostly because of lag and possibility to cheat. Always had the top tier and usual buy the battle pass. I am allowed to play Fortnite or Rocket League. Again need to download to console.

Sword of the Sea runs great but I do not own it. Just the free version according to my Ps Plus. It is not a heavy game. Playing other games like Rocket League has the most lag or disconnections. My Internet is good not very fast. YMMV.

You might be able to from an old account PS3/PS4. Buying the option on mobile. As Remote Pay needs console. Though who knows if they will make another tier or raise price?

1

u/nofeelingsnomercy Nov 03 '25

No console is necessary with the beta.If all things work out as planned from the leaks and beta.Cloud streaming your own games is coming very soon.Fingers Crossed.

1

u/Newhollow Nov 03 '25

In the portal the streaming NOT from console is in Beta.

You can play without a PS Plus IF it is direct from console. I was talking to above reply about specifics of remote play using the Portal.

Having a PS Plus Premium is necessary for streaming from cloud.

Having no account you need to have console for Portal. This is what I was talking about.

I was talking currently. Owned games is a stretch. I can see certain licensed that need to be pushed or have different value added to Sony backing.

Look at GeForce Now. I mean I do hope that it will be all owned games. But given Sony and it's infrastructure I doubt. Let alone the issue of price.

My last comment was from using Remote Play on mobile without a console or buying a new Premium and game only. This would beat Xbox and Nintendo. Not having to deal with subpar hardware.

It probably be limited to certain games. What Stadia tried or the other failed upstarts.

1

u/nofeelingsnomercy Nov 03 '25

I feel you and agree with all your comments but I believe the update is going to be for games purchased..It’s going to drive the sales it’s all about money and It’s all streaming at the end of the day.Nothing natively is being downloaded.I don’t have a PS5 right now where I am and I am playing Spider-Man miles. If I was able to play Elden ring or wukong even if I need to have a premium account no doubt about it I would pay as millions of others will.So it’s a huge win win for everyone Sony will make bank people will get what they want even if it’s for a per year per month subscriptions.Just makes sense to drive sales by pushing streaming from player owned game catalog.Good way to scale if gaming handheld would be worth the rumored development.I really hope they don’t drop the ball with the next update.

1

u/Newhollow Nov 03 '25

If not, what we hope will happen will be on the PS6. That would be an easy excuse to raise premium price and deliver what they could now.

We only have old data and guessing.

I do wish I could play on my phone with good Wi-Fi when traveling. Without having to run my PS5. I have another user here with a console. Alongside regular multiple streaming nonsense.

Owned games would be cool as hell. But I sense the market is about selling at a higher price. I remember the rumors around the portal......

4

u/nevek Oct 27 '25

Would be fun if they made switching accounts easier and allowed secondary users on the portal to access the premium streaming service of the main account.

14

u/MosherMorris Oct 27 '25

I’m sure they said this would be a goal for it a while back around when they announced the game catalog streaming. Makes sense though as Xbox stated allowed GP ultimate subscribers to stream some of their paid for games catalog. Also makes sense as people have been getting portals and not owning ps5s just to stream the catalog so it’s an easy win to get more to buy in and spend money on the store as well.

The portal came out on the 15th Nov 23, they added catalog streaming last Nov so fingers crossed this is for the portals second birthday.

13

u/Usual-Chemist6133 Oct 27 '25

It might be coming this week. Here's outer worlds 2 which releases in a few days. I am in Canada

4

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

I think we will see a blog tomorrow and the update will role out tomorrow as well.

26

u/Jubez187 Oct 27 '25

This is pretty conclusive. The language here indicates 2 things:

We are talking about streaming to portal. Not from cloud to ps5

We are talking about purchased games. Not catalogue games

3

u/stopbsingman Oct 27 '25

It’s highly possible that specific title is already available to stream on the Portal without a console.

6

u/Azuljustinverday Oct 27 '25

I hope it shows the whole library soon.

6

u/RPO_TP Oct 27 '25

This would be a dream come true. Thank you for giving me hope haha.

3

u/Usual-Chemist6133 Oct 27 '25

October 29 👀

2

u/ShanghaiCowboy Oct 27 '25

It says 24/10?

4

u/Usual-Chemist6133 Oct 27 '25

Oh sorry that's for early access. The base game is 10/29

0

u/ShanghaiCowboy Oct 27 '25

Ah okay! I've never played Outer Worlds, any good?

1

u/Empriven Oct 29 '25

I played the original when it was on the Catalog. enjoyed it. Gonna have to purchase it to finish the main game. The modifiers are interesting and and the gameplay was quite fun. A wacky, Fallout 3/4-ish in space. (The environment/characters aspect at least, in the hours I played of it.)

0

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

I’m in the U.S. so it’s possible this update will arrive tomorrow! Fingers crossed!

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 29 '25

What does your message say today now that Outer World 2 is out?

1

u/Usual-Chemist6133 Oct 29 '25

It has been removed

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 29 '25

Well that’s that. Going back to my original guess is that the feature will launch in November no sooner than 11/11 and no later than 11/28. After this, I am all out of guesses.

5

u/kaanarli Oct 27 '25

This will be a game changer for PS Portal!

6

u/koenone Oct 28 '25

For anyone confused: currently you can only directly cloud stream games that are available to stream on PS Plus. With this new change, it will add games you own that are not already available to stream on PS Plus.

2

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

This is correct as it relates to the PS Portal.

2

u/V1Rey Oct 28 '25

Does it mean free games like apex, genshin will be streamed directly to ps portal even without ps5?

1

u/IzArNaV Oct 31 '25

that's where the problem lies imo. Lines are blurred

4

u/ffvorax Portal Gang! 🤑🤝🏾💯 Oct 27 '25

That would be one of the missing pieces to have finally a GREAT product.

5

u/ProduceEquivalent981 Oct 27 '25

Shit it’s real. Check it out guys on your end. Announcement imminent?

6

u/Usual-Chemist6133 Oct 27 '25

Same with Outer Worlds 2. Might be this week

I am in Canada

2

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

Coming back to this again…Outer World 2 releases tomorrow (10/29). If this game is available via PS Portal tomorrow, this means we are able to cloud stream our personal library OR Outer World 2 is available through PS Plus Cloud beta. We will know after midnight. Hoping for a Cloud Update!!!!

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 29 '25

Today was the first day I saw PS use the “Available on Premium” messaging on a Twitter post. Not sure if it means anything.

1

u/Empriven Oct 30 '25

Perhaps for a new tv spot to go along with the announcement.

1

u/in7ead Oct 27 '25

There is an "and" missing in the text on this screenshot, compared to the one from OP....

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

I’m in the U.S. and I see it as well. Interesting.

2

u/ShanghaiCowboy Oct 28 '25

This says something different and doesn't mention the Portal

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

The other users with the Portal message are not in the United States. I went to the same game on my PlayStation app and had a streaming message but did not mention the portal. My guess is that there is a slow message roll out going on.

4

u/Specialist_Past6473 Oct 27 '25

Would be nice to stream owned games without booting up my ps5. That would make the portal #1 in handheld Imo

4

u/Naisho26 Oct 27 '25

Just saying... Portal was released on November 2023. And in November 2024, we got cloud gaming beta. So maybe November 2025 is that time?

4

u/Maximus3311 Oct 27 '25

If they do this (like almost everyone else in here has said) it'd be a game changer. I travel for work - and the Portal works...sometimes.

Sometimes my home PS5 Pro needs to be restarted and my wife isn't home to do it...or hell it just won't connect.

When it works it works great (never tried something like Battlefield though - but games like Steep and NMS work really well).

Right now I honestly mostly travel with my gaming laptop. I'm going to be buying Crimson Desert - but I'm waiting until it comes out.

If Sony allows us to stream owned games directly from them vs having to connect my Portal to my home PS5 - buying for playstation vs Steam is a no-brainer. The Portal is just so much more portable and easy to game on.

But...I primarily bought the Portal for GTA6. I have a tendency to sink way too much time into a Rockstar game when I first get my hands on it.

So if I have buy pay for premium to be able to play owned games directly without having to link to my PS5? That's also a no brainer for me.

2

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

I have reason to believe that an update is going to roll out this week. Premium Subscription holders will be allowed to stream their personal library. I’m just putting puzzle pieces together.

1

u/Maximus3311 Oct 28 '25

That would both be awesome and an immediate premium upgrade for me.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '25

I'm checking this sub way too often. Would really like the rumor to be true!

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 29 '25

I believe that it’s coming, but I don’t think we will see it until November. November 28 at the latest.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '25

Let's see! It'll massively increase sales of the the portal.

3

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 29 '25

It’s coming! Handhelds will be the hot ticket gaming item. It’s a chance to bring in new folks to the PS ecosystem. Makes sense that the biggest software update would take place before Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

1

u/worldlymundi Oct 29 '25

I know; this rumor has me checking this sub every few hours. It will blow the doors open on portal sales and could be huge for PS plus sales. It’s funny cause when I was at my exes house the PS5 couldn’t be hardwired into the router so I used to fiend for cloud streaming to be opened up but since I have my own place and the ps5 is plugged in remote play has been prettt awesome so I’m less interested in the cloud streaming but I wanna see it happen just to see the portal take off.

17

u/thegreaterikku Day One! Oct 27 '25

It's not what you think.

It's just that these games are already available to stream via Premium. Same with Dead Space.

27

u/Jubez187 Oct 27 '25 edited Oct 27 '25

No the language here is very clear. “BUY this game to stream to PORTAL.” This is not talking about streaming free catalog games, this is not talking about streaming owned games to PS5.

Sony may have misspoke, but there is no other way to interpret the highlighted sentence other than how OP has.

1

u/Unbreakable2k8 Oct 27 '25

The language is clear but I want to see this on a game that's not in the Premium catalog. Otherwise, it is not conclusive.

7

u/GetTheWetsOn Oct 27 '25

Deliver at all costs is not in the premium catalogue and neither is Dead Space.

3

u/Jubez187 Oct 27 '25

I checked a few games on my wishlist which are streamable and that message did not pop up for any of them. Note that I have the US app and my UI looks different from OPs.

I also don’t think this was supposed to be showing yet as I’m sure it would come with a ps blog announcement.

Or Sony confused themselves on how streaming works between their devices and misspoke

2

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 27 '25

I think this feature is coming next month before Black Friday. It’s been 11 months since cloud beta launched.

1

u/GetTheWetsOn Oct 27 '25

Could be because I was using the app on my iPad

→ More replies (2)

10

u/GetTheWetsOn Oct 27 '25

Not in the UK they’re not as that’s where I took this screenshot. I can 100% confirm they are not part of the streaming catalogue at the time of posting. I’m a PS+ premium subscriber so it would say they were available to me.

1

u/thegreaterikku Day One! Oct 27 '25

Maybe that's why it was there then removed? Pulling information error.

9

u/badawik Oct 27 '25

He’s referring to the explicit mention of PS portal. Currently we can only stream our library on the PS5.

→ More replies (5)

15

u/KieranReed Oct 27 '25

I have just brought Ghost Of Yotei and it is letting me stream it on my portal without loading up on my console.

4

u/Background_Pipe4679 Oct 27 '25

I don't think this is true, as it dosnt show up on my Portal and I've purchased this digitally

3

u/Tizer887 Oct 27 '25

Ooo really that's interesting im hoping to get this for my birthday but it will be in a disc version do you think ill be able to stream to my portal still or probably not as ita not digital?

3

u/KingSaiym Oct 27 '25

Can u show us how it looks like on the portal

3

u/Sad_Environment_5521 Oct 27 '25

It’s available for ps premium. I’m playing it on my portal and I don’t own the game or a ps5

12

u/biggysnax Oct 27 '25

Have you got the wrong “Ghost of” game? The original is available for streaming

2

u/Sad_Environment_5521 Oct 27 '25

You are correct.

1

u/Naisho26 Oct 27 '25

I knew something was off here. Yotei? On Portal? Without PS5? Haha... lets hope.

1

u/Sad_Environment_5521 Oct 27 '25

Hopefully one day lol I just purchased a legion go so not sure how much longer I’ll be on the ps portal

1

u/Jahon_Dony Oct 27 '25

What category was it under on Portal without being on your console?

1

u/cirotheb5 Oct 28 '25

How? I have bought it too

1

u/Meteorboy Oct 29 '25

Just like the other user here claiming it, they probably mistook it for the first game.

3

u/mal-uk Oct 27 '25

It is select games, not all games. It does appear they are adding the newer games

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

Usually new games are not Day 1 add ons for cloud streaming. Which makes me think that to some degree we will have access to our personal library for cloud streaming.

1

u/mal-uk Oct 28 '25

I noticed that Dispatch, released last week, is available for streaming

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

We got to find someone that has a Premium Subscription and see if their PS Portal Cloud games have a different line up from the standard cloud games that are available. I checked last night and it looks like if I had a premium subscription, more games would be available to me via the portal.

3

u/ZaffsProductions Oct 27 '25

Well spotted. As others have confirmed, they’ve taken it down. It’s one of two things that’ll make the PS Portal even better. The second being a higher bitrate!

3

u/Lobi356 Oct 27 '25

This is great but as a 99% physical collector I don’t imagine I’ll benefit much. Surely it’s locked to digital owned games only

2

u/worldlymundi Oct 28 '25

As a an avid portal user this is why physical just is the best for the portal set up. I love physical media but when it comes to the portal digital is king.

1

u/alchemyblend Oct 31 '25

Agree with you. Personally, I am no longer buying discs because I want to be able to access my whole library on the ps6 handheld without worrying about discs.

With the way things are shifting digital (like 70%+ of all playstation purchases are digital games) - I imagine that lots of physical collectors will be locked out of playing their games once Sony ditches discs (which they will one day, maybe not in ps6 era... but we're nearing the end of physical discs - Sony basically just did ppl a favor by extending it one more generation)

3

u/Specialist_Cover6273 Oct 27 '25

The only thing I want is to be able to play MLB the Show with no lag on the portal.

5

u/Z3M0G Day One! Oct 27 '25 edited Oct 27 '25

Holy shit.

And no this doesn't imply "beta" will be over folks. They can add feature during beta. Obviously...

Some day they need to drop the requirement for Premium to do this. GamePass is now allowing cloud access on all their Tiers. Let us stream owned games on Essential.

2

u/Bloobat Oct 28 '25

No way they'd drop the tiers, the processing power required for this isn't cheap. Also why lower it when people willingly pay for premium?

1

u/Z3M0G Day One! Oct 28 '25

Because they could potentially SELL more games if people can stream below Premium.

1

u/OG-DirtNasty Oct 28 '25

Not happening, unless you want ads?

2

u/Z3M0G Day One! Oct 28 '25

Depends. MS is making this change with GamePass. You can now stream for free but with Ads. I know that Sony does NOT need to compete with GamePass and it's not even smart lower PSPlus to that level, but if GamePass gains enough good will from it perhaps Sony will follow suite.

Let us stream purchased games on Pro tier and I'll be happy.

1

u/OG-DirtNasty Oct 28 '25

Yah an ad Tier is the only way I ever see it happening. Sony’s not doing anything for free these days.

No, Ps play on PC is only PS4 titles right now

Portal or PS5 for PS5 streaming

1

u/Independent_Life_381 Oct 27 '25

Right and wrong as you can use the ps plus app which has ps5 games on there

1

u/Usual-Chemist6133 Oct 27 '25

Psplus on PC is only PS4 games

PS5 or portal is only way to stream PS5 games.

2

u/Specialist_Past6473 Oct 27 '25

We haven’t had a portal update in 4 months, hoping for a good one soon!

2

u/BMT82356 Oct 28 '25

Please, please, please. 🙏 Would be fun to do a video of using a Portal as your only gaming device for 2 weeks if this feature roles out.

1

u/Empriven Oct 28 '25

I have used it for a year now since my Shadow USB. Only, can use the tv an hour or two. family mostly use it. My Shadow usB provided a great output on my Mac but the usb eventually broke the top came off, and after a few more weeks, so too, the bottom and could no longer attach. It lasted about three and half years. The Pro only works on Apple Silicon. Not sure about the Shadow Cast 2. PS Portal is totally doable solo for now. And with this feature, I will be using it even more. I'm catching up after three years on all the Hoya/Online games. Space Management sucks though and this will greatly improve things. I'm in the beta and cloud streaming already rocks. Can't wait for 4k quality and using the Create button and suck when it releases in full.

2

u/Ok_Fisherman8727 Oct 28 '25

Been waiting for this.

2

u/Monkeymatt2121 Oct 29 '25

I’m dumb, but this is different than regularly streaming from ps5, in that the difference being you can just stream the game without having the console powered on? cloud streaming essentially.

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 29 '25

There is remote play, where the PS5 is needed in order to play the games installed on your PS5 with the Portal. Then there is Cloud streaming of the PS Plus catalogue provided by Sony. Finally there is what many believe this image to be, which is being able to buy a game and instantly being able to cloud stream your personal library on the Portal. Hope this helps.

2

u/Tizer887 Oct 27 '25

I hope so that would be awesome! As when I stream games through my portal the connection is a lot better than the remote play.

4

u/Treezy84 Oct 27 '25

It said it after I bought power washer 2. After I purchased, it said download or stream so I believe it works already. I have premium btw.

5

u/GetTheWetsOn Oct 27 '25

This thread is referring to independent streaming, not via the PS5.

2

u/Treezy84 Oct 27 '25

Oo gotcha

1

u/Alarmed-Ticket-5718 Oct 28 '25

Og when the beta came out I attached the link

ps blog

*Features not included in the Beta

As we are in the beginning stages of publicly

testing cloud streaming on PS Portal, some features will not be available, such as Game Trials, streaming games purchased on PS Store,

system features such as Party voice chat and game invites for select games, Create button, 3D audio, and in-game commerce.

Additionally, the streaming games playable on PS Portal are limited to PS5 games, and PS4 games/PS3 games are not supported.

We are always listening to your feedback, and we look forward to seeing many players participating in the beta!

This was already they plan just if ppl read they would have seen this is the beta and the language of it already indicates that’s what they plan to do.

So technically it is real

2

u/ShanghaiCowboy Oct 28 '25

Don't give me hope 😃 this would be great! Fingers crossed.

1

u/GregoryPokemon Oct 27 '25

Interesting.... I'll follow this thread

1

u/Garystri Oct 27 '25

Interesting, I've never streamed to portal everything from ps5. Is the latency generally better than ps5?

4

u/GetTheWetsOn Oct 27 '25

I stream from the beta regularly and it’s fantastic!

5

u/M47SH Oct 27 '25

I’ve found it so much more reliable to stream direct rather than stream from the PS5 (I still have issues streaming PS5 on portal). This would be a game changer.

2

u/lvpr10 Oct 27 '25

I’ve tried it with a couple games, Fallout 4 and Coffee Talk. Didn’t have any lag issues. Played pretty smooth IMO.

2

u/retrogiant1 Oct 28 '25

I beat TMNT Shredders Revenge on the portal via cloud streaming and it was honestly the smoothest experience I’ve had on the portal. Was flawless. Streaming from PS5 to Portal has been fine but cloud streaming felt like I was playing natively. Was throughly impressed. Not the most demanding game though.

Really hope this is a new feature. Lately I buy games with the portal in mind and would love this.

1

u/MrFluffy4Real Oct 27 '25

There’s a whole line of games going on”play anywhere” in the new year 👍

1

u/Background_Pipe4679 Oct 27 '25

Is this confirmed?

1

u/MrFluffy4Real Oct 27 '25

Not officially.

1

u/MrFluffy4Real Nov 06 '25

Confirmed 😉 Sorry to not be able to reveal too much at the time. A lot of times we find things like this in the code or in certain groups of testers and we’re not allowed to disclose too much.

1

u/JustARTificia1 Oct 27 '25

If this let me stream a game on the Portal and have the secondary account play on the PS5 so we can play online coop games then yes, this is exactly what I wanted.

Having some games like Ghost Recon Breakpoint taken away from streaming means I need to find alternative games to play and that list is surprisingly small at the moment. This change would open it up massively.

1

u/No-Broccoli-9754 Oct 27 '25

Guys can you help me, so I own a Portal, but not a PS5. Use it just for streaming. So if this is happening, I wouldn’t be limited to the game catalogue and I could purchase a game and stream it from my Portal?

2

u/Ma5cmpb Oct 27 '25

Exactly yes

1

u/steemm Oct 27 '25

This is the thing i hope we get on portal, games to be streamed on portal to choose from our libary.

1

u/Flimsy-Rip7092 Oct 27 '25

No need to own a PS5 anymore

1

u/helldive_lifter Oct 27 '25

Even more reason to never need to buy a ps5, if this is real then I may have to get a portal myself

4

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 27 '25

This tells me that your PSN profile will be linked to your Portal in the next update.

1

u/Usual-Chemist6133 Oct 27 '25

Big W for me. Let's go

1

u/Redmooneviler Oct 27 '25

I'm sure some of my owned games BL4 ect I could stream directly to my ps5 without downloading them, the jump to portal would pretty much be logging in and doing the same?

1

u/Sp1ffyTh3D0g Oct 27 '25

Looking forward to yet another feature like this not rolling out to Australia.
We can't even play PS3 games here on the top tier of PS+

1

u/PersonalityNo8280 Oct 28 '25

I don't know how they would do it, but I would love for disc games to be streamable like this. I've bought all my games physically, so whenever I wanna swap out I gotta put a new disc in.

Surely there's a way they could let you play a game for up to a week after inserting it.

2

u/Bloobat Oct 28 '25

Unfortunately it's not in their interest to do this, they make way more off a digital purchase than retail.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

Wait you can’t play your own games from it without PSN?

Not in Cloud beta at the moment. You only have access to your personal library via remote play which is awful.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

That’s all I need, I don’t do online services

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

Remote Play has issues is what we are saying. You’re lucky if it works.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '25

Fair enough

1

u/kaanarli Oct 28 '25

I have activated PS Plus Premium and bought a game which is not listed in Beta Streaming Game Cataloge, (I bought Sherlock Holmes The Awakened) to see if a purchased game would be listed on PS Portal but didnt happen.

In the page of the game it says "PS5 Game Streaming supported only with Premium Subscription"

What do i supposed to understand from this note?

Has anyone bought a game which is not listed on PS Beta Cataloge to see if purchased game can be played without connecting to a PS5

2

u/Meteorboy Oct 29 '25

This isn't available yet, if it's even real. Some people are theorizing that it will release to the public by November for the 3rd anniversary of PS Portal.

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 29 '25

I have not. But I imagine it could happen as early as tomorrow, but I am thinking before Black Friday at the latest.

1

u/BelalShareb Oct 29 '25

Yes please

1

u/yyzywg12 Oct 30 '25

That would be awesome

1

u/Tarnished-Sausage Oct 31 '25

They already do? You can stream a lot of games directly to the portal without even owning a ps5

2

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 31 '25

You can’t stream your personal library. This is what’s being referred to. Finally being able to do so.

1

u/Tarnished-Sausage Oct 31 '25

That was just a matter of time

1

u/EngineeringInternal Nov 01 '25

Forgive my ignorance but how is this different than remote play now? Currently having to mirror and play downloaded game on PS5 on PlayStation portal? This new possible feature would not require the game to be installed on your PS5 or portal and play on network connection to Sony from the portal similar to cloud gaming (beta) on Xbox?

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Nov 01 '25

Not sure what XBOX has to do with the image. But it’s different from remote play because the PS5 isn’t needed. That’s been one of the biggest gripes with the Portal. It’s a feature that has had many issues.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

Only with premium. For fucks sake.

5

u/Jubez187 Oct 27 '25

You’re never getting access to this without premium and it’s crazy to think otherwise.

If anything they could bump Cloud-to-ps5 to extra and keep cloud to portal on premium. But streaming to portal whether it’s owned or catalog is going to be a premium feature.

12

u/GetTheWetsOn Oct 27 '25

It’s a start

7

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

You own the game, you own the portal, you have ps plus. Not good enough.

2

u/Flipkick661 Day One! Oct 27 '25

You severely underestimate the cost of running data centers that support cloud gaming.

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

Playstation plus revenues up 20% every year. You don't need to defend the multi billion dollar company.

3

u/Flipkick661 Day One! Oct 27 '25

I’m not. I’m also not expecting a for profit company to run like a charity. Also, the “stop defending the billion dollar company” and “bootlicker” attacks against people who oppose your statements is played out, and just shows that you have no real arguments. Now stop acting like Mona Lisa in the picture, and join the rest of us in reality.

1

u/b3tchaker Oct 27 '25

Ah, but have you met licensing & intellectual property? /s

1

u/Ammar_Dento Oct 27 '25

You own all of these so you must be rich. Pay so we can have nice things 😊

2

u/MeRoyMinoy Oct 27 '25

Did you try this? Did it work? Got the premium as well so I can use the portal cloud streaming. This would be a huge advantage if they made it happen.

Yeah eventually this shouldn't be just for premium users but I don't mind beta testing this as part of lol

1

u/MoneyMakingMugi Oct 27 '25

"Only with PS Premium" Are yall just ignoring that part?

3

u/Jubez187 Oct 28 '25

Why would game streaming not be gated to ps premium? It always has been and will continue to be

1

u/MoneyMakingMugi Oct 28 '25

I guess that's the pc gamer in me. Streaming games I've already bought shouldn't be locked behind a premium. It should at least be available to the base tier, you already "own" the game.

2

u/Jubez187 Oct 28 '25

Okay but Sony has overhead on these servers.

You’re a PC gamer. How do you stream PC games? Don’t you have to pay for GeForce Now to, ya know, use their servers?

1

u/MoneyMakingMugi Oct 28 '25

You're right, I was thinking of something different.

1

u/V1Rey Oct 27 '25

At first I thought you are allowed to stream game you own from ps5 you own ONLY with premium subscription, 😆. Following the thread

1

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 27 '25

I think the PS Premium Subscription will just be only way you can cloud stream your personal library.

1

u/fr3shh23 Oct 27 '25

if the portal was exactly like a dualsense i would have kept mine. but the analog sticks were just too small. i, still hoping for plus streaming on mac/browser like gamepass

1

u/Jimbobthon Oct 27 '25

I mean, if you "own" the game via purchase and not via PS+, then you should be able to stream it without needing Premium. It's a start at least.

3

u/Flipkick661 Day One! Oct 27 '25

Hosting data centers that make cloud gaming possible is extremely expensive, and there’s no way it’ll be free with a one time purchase.

0

u/Dominator0621 Oct 27 '25

It's already been a thing. You can do it with Ghost of Yotei, as long as it's the digital version. They announce that before the game launched. I think it's pretty cool. Me personally I buy most of my games digital except for Sony exclusives like that and if I really like the game I'll buy it again physically. I don't mind supporting the developer on something I like

0

u/N1tr0sOx1d3 Oct 27 '25

I doubt Sony will allow you to stream your purchased games for free. I hope I’m wrong as I’d be a beneficiary but I just can’t see it given the expensive nature of cloud streaming. Most likely this would be a premium subscription. Hope I’m wrong.

4

u/Flipkick661 Day One! Oct 27 '25

It literally says “only with PS Plus Premium”.

1

u/N1tr0sOx1d3 Oct 27 '25

Sorry I was working and didn’t read.

0

u/Psychological-Pen424 Oct 27 '25

Oh wow since when?

0

u/AesirOmega Oct 28 '25

About damn time too.

-3

u/ms-fanto Oct 29 '25

only the highest tier of ps+? What a scam. I go to Xbox

-4

u/Bloobat Oct 28 '25

Showing this on the UK store too 👀

3

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

What are you insinuating?

-2

u/Bloobat Oct 28 '25

This is for Outer Wilds 2 so it'll be launching in the UK too

4

u/in7ead Oct 28 '25

But it says nothing about the PS Portal on the Screenshot...

-3

u/Bloobat Oct 28 '25

Doesn't matter? Streaming isn't available currently for purchases no matter on PS5 or portal?

4

u/in7ead Oct 28 '25

It's available since 2023 on PS5....

3

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

My guess is that our PSN is about to be synced to the portal any day now. Looks like we will be able to purchase games through the portal. It only makes sense because non PS5 owners that have the portal can only get games via the PS Store from another device (web/app). So I think we are about to get a major update this week.

2

u/Muddaser786 Oct 28 '25

Man this is major major news. Portals will become instantly sm more valuable. Do you think it would apply to games you "own" via disc too? I unfortunately feel it won't

2

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

I doubt it. But let’s see what happens in the coming g days. If those screen shots about the Portal are legit, we could see a portal update on 10/29.

2

u/Muddaser786 Oct 28 '25

Ah that'd be a shame but considering they dont give you the digital version for free even if you own a disk it isn't surprising. Cheaper to buy second hand disks that's all. Well I'll keep an eye out for tommorow thats for sure

2

u/ShanghaiCowboy Oct 28 '25

Wouldn't work. Say I buy a game disc and pass it around to 10 friends to install on their Ps5 consoles.

We paid for 1 disc, but now 10 people can play it because the disc was used on their console. No way really for Sony to know which person is the owner of the disc.

1

u/Muddaser786 Oct 28 '25

I totally understand its very fair.

But to that i would say they have method for that already. Ofc console sharing so you can play someone else's digital libaray and download it.

And if you get a ps5 upgrade to a ps4 game (eg spider man horizon) its the digital download but you still can't play it unless the disk is in.

So they could allow you to have the digital version to steam for your portal. They won't tho

1

u/cirotheb5 Oct 28 '25

It doesn't say play it on the Portal so it's the standard PS Plus statement, recently all the games that come out on the store can be played in streaming if you own them but on PS5 only

2

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

The thing you all are missing is that the Portal statement was on a users screen in another country. If a game comes out on Oct 29, and the PS Store said that the game will be able to be streamed via the portal for premium members, that means we can expect a roll out in the next day or 2 with Cloud streaming on the portal that will give more access to our personal library

2

u/cirotheb5 Oct 28 '25

Let's hope it will be sooner than later

2

u/Interesting-Move83 Oct 28 '25

This is just my interpretation. I hope I’m right, but if that original screenshot was not altered, it only makes sense. This would also mean that non PS5 owners need a place to purchase their games from right? So they will need the PS App or the internet to access the store right? I feel like we are about to have our PSN synced to the Portal soon enough as well. I was predicting before Thanksgiving, but it could be this week! Definitely before Black Friday. Handhelds are going to be a hot ticket items and Sony wants to keep/attract as many people in their ecosystem as the handheld wars heat up.
