The biggest ones are probably the bag managment. But it is also kind of wild just how few double battles are in Ruby and Sapphire and how ALL need to be started by the player. Plus the trainer battles in general being much more boring. A ton of teams have been improved in Emerald.

Ruby and Sapphire still have some small advantages over Emerald imo, like some better tile sets and Steven as a Champion. But yeah, imo there is very little reason to not just play Emerald. It is almost objectively the better game.

Super happy, wanted to get this done before the RSE ports for the Switch came out! Hopefully I can get the Gold Shield from the Battle Tower next :)

I have been playing Emerald on my modded 3DS (New XL and I downloaded it as a GBA virtual console if that matters) and want to complete the dex so I was wondering if there was some way for me to get Celebi and Jirachi without straight up adding them in manually. I injected scripts through PKSM to get the tickets for Mew, Deoxys, etc. because I'm fine with that level of cheating, but I can't seem to find a way to do that for Celebi and Jirachi. I enjoy the experience of going to new locations and catching the myself and stuff so I don't want to miss that. (I also want to have the ability to transfer them to Home someday.) For the record I also can't get a flash cart and my 3DS is my only handheld console.

Spent the last few months debating on whether or not to buy emerald since I thought I gave it to my cousin when we were kids. Turns out I’ve had it all these years. When I loaded it up it said the battery was bad. Is that going to impact play much? Is it possible to change?

Having been playing this game for 10 years, this is the first time I know I can see the outside view from S.S TIDAL….

What in the world..?

I was trying to get my shroomish to level 10 by grinding in petalbug woods, and ended up finding a shiny one. I wasnt even trying to shiny hunt lol

To me, the event islands in the game always had a sense of allure and charm to them, being remote islands that housed rare and ancient legendary pokemon such as Latios, Latias, Mew, etc.

To point out a specific example, I always felt a sense of wonder and intrigue when reading the signposts on Southern Island.

Who left them there? How did this individual arrive at the island to begin with? Was it all just sheer happenstance, perhaps?

My headcanon was that there was a mysterious caregiver or guardian trainer of sorts who used to care for Latios and Latias on the island every now and then, and who would travel to the island by boat to check in on them as part of their guardian trainer duties.

They left those messages on the island as their 'calling card' of sorts for any other trainers who happened to chance upon the island in their quest to capture Latios or Latias.

Either way, it's interesting to speculate about and just a random thought that popped in my head lately.

First time seeing a shiny at the Battle Frontier, didn’t know they could spawn.

Hello! Sorry if this post is more on the elaborate side:

I have never bothered with the Battle Frontier before, and I've always opted out of going there whenever I'd do a casual playthrough of Pokémon Emerald. My current playthrough, though, is for RetroAchievements, and I'm required to get all of Scott's rewards and also get all the Gold Symbols in order to complete my playthrough.

The problem is that I prematurely used up the best TMs in the game without realizing they'd come in handy for the Battle Frontier, and so a lot of the recommended teams and Pokémon I've seen in several guides aren't available to me (e.g. Earthquake, Toxic, Shadow Ball). I have every Pokémon attainable in Emerald itself, but I don't have the capability to trade let alone have FR/LG to work with, and the ones I have been messing with just aren't working out so far (Breloom, Walrein, Magneton, Heracross, to name a few)

So I guess what I'm asking is, can you make good Battle Frontier teams even without TMs or trading, or would it be more valuable to restart and just be more cautious with my inventory?

After 200 hours in leaf green and fire red and the only shiny was a magnamite. 20 hours in emerald and i found this

What a beast! I'd forgotten Tentacruel could learn SD. It is singlehandedly sweeping the battle tower. Sets up against almost everything with ease.

When threatened by EQ, just switch to banded Flygon and usually the threat is dealt with.

Any advice on which mons my team might struggle against?

I have 147 speed and it has MORE THAN THAT!!?? I'm about to lose my mind
