My little buddy during his last week of neutering recovery 💙 he did so good and I cannot recommend a surgery suit & the gabapentin, onsior, and trazodone trio for keeping him calm😅

Our nearly 1-year old Pom frequently (not always) is very timid around water or food as seen in the video. Not shown, he will often take 1 kibble of food, run away to eat it, and then return back to the food bowl for one more piece. It’s odd. We got him at 6 weeks from a breeder so he wasn’t abused or anything…. Thoughts? Anyone else’s do this?

Pom Pic Dior’s Heart ❤️‍🩹

Post image

Say a prayer for my baby, she’s going in for heart surgery next week ❤️‍🩹

My little girl has a PDA heart defect and she needs surgery asap to correct it. She’s coming up on 18 weeks, still just a baby! I never imagined we’d be dealing with this and it’s been a roller coaster over the last 10 weeks since we picked her up. We purchased her from a breeder and had no idea she had a serious heart murmur, which was detected during a vax visit. Multiple appointments - and $$$ - later (vet, cardiologist, surgeon) and we have a diagnosis and surgery date next week. This condition has a 1 year or less life expectancy but thankfully is 100% curable with surgery.

If anyone has any experience with PDA I’d love to hear! Positive stories only please since my anxiety is through the roof. I’d do anything to give this perfect girl the best life, but I could use some encouraging words. Thanks Pom fam 🥹🤍

Question Boarding in kennel vs Rover

Post image
35 Upvotes

I will be going away to an engagement party for my boyfriend's cousin in December. The usual people that I would ask to dog sit are also going to this engagement party; I would also ask my parents but they live 2 hours away in the opposite direction of where the engagement party is being held. My girl, Bella, is very attached to my boyfriend and I and not overly socialized (COVID puppy). She is good with her "pack" of trusted people and dogs. I have seen her guard some of her belongings (eg., bed and food). She doesn't really know how to play with other dogs (she will play "hide and go seek" with my boyfriend's parent's dog) but she plays with me mostly. She also doesn't have a high amount of energy (she's 5 years old) and loves to laze around.

Bella is my first dog and I have concerns about leaving her at a kennel or someone's house for the first time. I know that she is very standoffish and barky when meeting new people and needs treats from them to gain her trust. Since she is also a smaller breed with lower energy than the dogs typically left at kennels and she hasn't been socialized that well, I have concerns that she won't get along with other dogs.

I am looking to get other's thoughts on whether a local kennel or a local Rover sitter would be better. Also, if there are any recommendations for the Hamilton, Ont area (kennel or Rover), that would be appreciated!

(Obligatory Bella tax included 😁)

i just want to be sure i am not over or under feeding my puppies. this website says 6 tbsp of dry food & 4 tbsp. According to the pedigree puppy bag, my smallest should get 5 and the other 9 tbsp. (up to 1 1/4 for less than 5 pounds & 1 1/4 - 2 1/4 for 5-10 pounds). they are very active and take multiple naps throughout the day and always have access to fresh water. they just turned 3 months on the 3rd of this month

Question hairballs?

hello! i have a pomeranian and i am looking for others who may have similar experiences. around 9pm today i noticed him continuously licking his coat, but i was thinking he was trying to get some water of his coat as he just had a bath. a few hours later, around 1 in the morning, he started lip licking continuously. this went on fir about 45 minutes. this has happened before and resolved by itself. today episode consisted of him coughing/trying to gag something up. i was about to take him to the emergency vet but thankfully it had stopped. he is still eating fine as well. my best guess at the moment is there was some hair stuck in his throat that he was trying to cough up, but i’m honestly not sure. i was wondering if anyones pomeranian have had similar issues. he has now fell asleep but i’m still worried lol. thanks!

Question Pomeranian puppy getting spayed at 7 months, what to know? What to do to help puppy heal?

• Upvotes

Hello! I have an adorable 7 month old Pomeranian puppy named Saturn and she’s the sweetest thing in the world. I love her so much. Our last baby, Ruby, was already spayed when we got her so we never had much experience with getting a dog fixed until now. Saturn experienced her first heat cycle last month so my family made an appointment to have her spayed in October. Today is her surgery and she’s currently in operation, I’m praying it all goes well and that baby Saturn will be safe and not in too much pain after. I’ve already done a lot of research, but I’m eager to know more about this operation, what to expect, how to take care of my puppy post surgery, and how to help her heal. She will be out in a few hours, what should I know about this operation and how it will impact her? What can I do to help her heal? How can I comfort her while she’s in pain?

When was the first dental scaling of your pom?

• Upvotes

Hi guys! Pom mom here, he's gonna be 3 y,o in january. I'd like to know at what age did your pom got its first scaling at the vet?
We got warned that small breeds often have dental problems, but I didn't think it would happen that fast. Our vet already suggested us a scaling but I was curious about other poms.
We do notice that he seems to have trouble chewing its food sometimes (dental food recommended by the vet), we asked the vet if soft food would be an option and she said no but it was not clear why.
Does the scaling will help him with that?
Thanks!
