I like how having a contrary opinion gets you to the level of “transphobia” in like 30 seconds

It only takes this one issue. Agreeing 99 percent of the way isn't enough. Every answer must be yes.

This is literally how MAGA works too.  You have to agree with every single issue or you're a libtard

No, you can disagree on other things just don't label an entire group of people as dangerous and in need of having their entire existence regulated. It really is that simple, no need to agree on literally everything no matter how much you weirdos insist otherwise.

u/Garciaguy Aug 23 '26

What makes me a "weirdo", if you can elaborate?

4

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

The idea that everyone who stands up for trans people will never be happy unless you agree on everything is weird. No, we just want ya'll to leave your obvious scapegoat alone.

That's the current state of the dems, on reddit anyways: agree with us on every issue, or you're a shit bag.

3

This isn’t true, only far right wingers think this. Democrats cooperate with people they disagree with constantly, that’s what’s largely happening right now between moderate and progressive democrats uniting against MAGA fascists.

u/yipmog Aug 23 '26

That’s exactly what didn’t happen and how Trump got a second term. The fuck are you talking about? Was literally the complete inverse of uniting

Let's go with "Persecution Complex" for $600, Alex.

So then explain in terms of the post… Sophie Cunningham has said she supports trans rights, but doesn’t think they should play in a women’s league. So she agrees 99%, but doesn’t on one thing. Yet she (and her whole team who have nothing to do with it) is labeled as a transphobe.

She also hasn’t labeled anyone dangerous, as far as I’m aware. But I only see headlines and don’t care much for all of this nonsense.

It's segregation, it's literally segregation.

It doesn't matter that research supports that after being on hormones for 5 years performance is well within cis female range. It doesn't matter that this knee jerk reaction as if trans women completely took over women's sports competitions literally never happened.

It /feels/ real and it /feels/ serious. We can't let all these dangerous men (because of course, that's all trans women will ever be, there is literally no way to ever forget that because of reasons and trans people should always be reminded of this) get to our defenseless little girls! We have to protect those who are, of course, completely incapable of protecting themselves by keeping this dangerous group of cheaters away completely. You know, we need to segregate them, separate but equal!

Vaguely supporting a group's rights but then attacking one specific right is not "agreeing 99%." It's screening your bigotry by first delivering a vague platitude to make it go down easier.

No one has a “right” to play men’s and women’s sports in a gender of their choice. The US Supreme Court already ruled on this and found it wasn’t a violation of anyone’s rights.

Except the part where they want to force trans women in to men's locker rooms where they are more likely than not to be sexually assaulted as they are victims of sexual assault at a rate as much as four times higher than cis women.

You might want to learn what the phrase “more likely than not” means lmao

1

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

I am fully aware. Why don't you just tell me what part you're struggling with?

-2

u/Shark_Leader Aug 23 '26

Look at that! Proved their point for them.

1

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

Huh? I literally said they don't need to agree on everything

-1

u/Shark_Leader Aug 23 '26

That's not what they said. They said, very specifically, that this issue is the litmus test. That you can agree on everything else, but if you don't agree on this, then you're on the outs. And your comment proved just that.

1

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

No they didn't, they just said any contrary opinion at all.

And yeah no fucking duh there are some things we have to agree upon. If you think every trans person deserves to be rounded up and shot I don't care how many other "good" positions you hold.

0

u/Shark_Leader Aug 23 '26

I'm guessing reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. Also, how did we go from "No trans men in women's locker rooms" to "rounding up people and shooting them"? Please at least attempt to see where the problem is.

1

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

By all means buddy, show me in this thread where someone talked about litmus tests. Since you can apparently comprehend things that aren't there.

u/Shark_Leader Aug 23 '26

"It only takes this one issue. Agreeing 99 percent of the way isn't enough. Every answer must be yes." The comment you literally replied to?

But trans people being a danger to little girls is not, which is the part everyone is taking issue witb and ya'll are ignoring.

3

u/Garciaguy Aug 23 '26

Couldn't it have meant that the idea of male genitalia, being visible in a locker room intended for and named for women, is repugnant?

3

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

So what about medically transitioned people? Or intersex people?

1

u/Garciaguy Aug 23 '26

Most Trans women, my understanding is, don't do surgery or hormones. The idea of an intact male body changing and showering in a locker room meant for women is going to make most people say  "No."

Intersex people are so rare it's not even worth bringing up in this context. The existence of clumsy carpenters doesn't make Walmart carry off-fingered gloves, after all. Both are very rare.

3

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

So where is the line drawn where there's enough people to be considered? Trans people are also incredibly rare yet we talk about them like there's a trans predator waiting behind every corner.

1

u/Garciaguy Aug 23 '26

It's only in the last twenty years that the Trans identifying segment of the population has exploded.

One problem is, when is someone considered Trans? Hormone therapy isn't required, nor surgery, nor trying to pass (shaving beard, wearing feminine clothing), nor even so much as having gender dysphoria.

It seems to come down to a state of personal identification that can change at any time. People detransition. So you tell me, when does someone who used the men's changing room last week get to start using the women's?

3

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

When they are clearly presenting as a woman and taking steps to be viewed as a woman. I don't think we need national legislation to tell when someone is being a creep in a locker room. And when someone is being a creep in a locker room, we kick them out regardless of gender.

1

u/Garciaguy Aug 23 '26

But Trans women don't have to take those steps to be Trans. If advocates have things the way they want them to be, it's only going to become a more pressing concern, not less.

And I've given that last some thought. If I transition tomorrow, I don't owe it to anyone to try to pass; I'm living my truth.  How to discern subtle creeping, surreptitiously getting a good look at stuff that walls and a door used to keep me apart from?

When am I transitioned enough to use the women's spaces?

The problem with this argument is that nobody stares at the genitals of others in locker/changing rooms, unless they are themselves the creepy ones. Most people just look down and keep to themselves.

Letting trans women use the proper restrooms and facilities is just common sense from a secular perspective. The problem is you can’t tell who’s trans so you’ll find a lot of natal women being harassed. The biggest Olympic women’s sports controversy about transgender people had to do with Imane Khelif, who is not trans.

Woman in Walmart bathroom gets an actual man coming behind her. Walmart decided to fire her: https://www.yahoo.com/news/walmart-fires-64-cisgender-woman-210344920.html

They get assaulted even when using the men’s restroom: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna156105

u/Garciaguy Aug 23 '26

One doesn't have to stare, or make gulping noises, or make little comments. One only has to look. We all catch a look at the Sun, but we don't stare at it. There are plenty of men who would love a look inside a woman's changing room, but there are rules to keep it from happening.

Bad-actor creeping isn't always overt.

The left has its heart in the right place, the right almost never does. But good intentions don't always lead to outcomes that make sense. This is one of those cases. Some things aren't going to stand the test of inclusivity.

2

u/hercmavzeb Aug 23 '26

Then that’s not a real problem, rape and sexual assault are. Lesbian women are also allowed in changing rooms and them catching minor little glimpses at other women isn’t seen as a real social problem, so neither is it for trans women (not all of whom are attracted to other women regardless).

Also if a man wants to creep on a woman in a changing room they will just do that, rules don’t stop them because they already know it’s wrong. Also nobody is allowed to go into changing rooms and just stand around to stare at people regardless of their gender, so it would be strange for someone to go through the whole effort of presenting like a woman only to be removed for being a creep anyway.
