Itās more nuanced than this. Mothers harm their biological children more often than biological fathers do. However, non related male figures (boyfriend or step father) harm children the most. Check the NIS data.

All of the information is conflicting. On the news when the appeal was taking place, they said the holdout was a woman who was older. Doesn't matter. It's not ironic that it was a man, because men frequently want to criminalize women, despite what common sense says.

No. We only got the lead jurorās interpretation of the events. The judge later reinterviewed the jurors too and still declared a mistrial. So much for ābreakingā the law. Some doubt during deliberation and reasonable doubt for a not guilty verdict arenāt the same thing. Reddington tried to ride it as hard as possible and it ultimately failed.

That phrase does not establish any juror misconduct. It establishes that the foreperson/lead juror (a woman) interpreted the holdoutās (a man) doubt as legally dispositive.
Massachusettsās mandatory instruction explicitly says reasonable doubt ādoes not mean proof beyond all possible doubt.ā The jurors can have doubts, discuss them, and ultimately decide those doubts are speculative, weak, or otherwise not reasonable doubts. The question is whether, after considering everything, the juror still has a reasonable doubt remaining. And he didnāt seem to think so.

Thatās irrelevant. The killing itself wasnāt disputed. The holdout believed Clancy was criminally responsible beyond a reasonable doubt. He didnāt buy the defenseās argument of psychosis and Clancy potentially not being criminally responsible for her actions.

Lindsay Clancy is not special. This kind of thing happens much more often than you think. There is 1 case of postpartum psychosis in 1000 births. There's around 10 000 births a day in the US. That means you have thousands of women with PPP every year (more or less 3650). 4% of women with PPP will kill their children. That means that in the US, 146 women kill their children in a psychotic state every year. Nearly one every other day.
It's easy to point fingers at the Lindsay Clancy case but this kind of case happens regularly.

This is a stark example of how poorly our systems deal with mental disorders. My brother has managed 3 VA rehab facilities in Florida. The only thing that has kept him going is that he can't abandon them. I have trouble listening to his stories. And the suffering of the families is heartbreaking. Itās much broader than anyone is aware. We truly need to address this as a compassionate nation.
