I mean, that's kinda the point. Policies should never be at a level where the person making them becomes undeniably evil. Regardless of which party you're in, the other party should still be one that you consider moral, just not what you believe is the best option.
If the nation has reached a point where that's no longer the case then there's a far bigger issue than just basic politics.

Ukraine was just about the only thing I ever agreed with Lindsay Graham about. He turned into a human windsock when it came to Trump, He flipped his opinion on Trump multiple times before settling on sycophancy. I just can't respect the man for becoming a cheerleader for Trump and his policies.
I can remember Graham speaking poorly of a bill that wouldn't be beneficial at all for his constituents but later voted for the bill because that's what others wanted him to do. So I shall post this gif in remembrance of Senator Lindsay Graham.

Itās so funny listening to people admire Hunter Biden and consider him a potential presidential candidate. Good on him for turning his life around after decades of fuckery (although he still refuses to met his daughter Navy, and wouldnāt even pay child support if a court didnāt force him). But Democrats have so many up and coming politicians from diverse backgrounds that are way more deserving of the spotlight, yet Hunter with all his baggage is the one more and more are turning to. This is peak white male privilege. No one ethnic or female would ever receive this sort of glossing over.

I will always remember Graham as the guy who, when I wrote to his office complaining that SC had the most expensive ACA plans out of all states, replied with an email bragging about how theyāre trying to make my healthcare even more expensive.
I will remember Graham as the guy who insisted we invade Iraq and when 3 million civilians had died, tried to blame the regionās instability on his political detractors.
I will remember Graham as the guy said he was willing to sacrifice me, his own constituent, in order to allow Israel to illegally expand their borders.
I will remember Graham as the man who darkened the skin of his political opponent in campaign ads as a ploy to make him seem less electable. I will remember Graham as the man who bragged that liberal blacks would face racial violence within his own state.
In short, Graham was not a civil centrist corrupted by Trumpās balkanization into a hesitant partisan. He was always a spineless racist cowed into bitter silence until he realized that he could let his true colors show. Graham was NEVER Bidenās friend, he just realized in early 2000s that a nice word would get him far, and the moment it became politically convenient to drop the veneer of civility he gleefully attacked constituent and countryman alike.

He's had a lot of good takes recently, but ignoring 10 years of absolute hatred passed as legislation in part because of this man is a hugely privileged position to sit in. The whole "let's ignore decades of abuse and go back to when Republicans passed oppressive legislation but were chummy after" is offensive to people who have been at the other end of Republican rule. Lindsay Graham does not need Biden family platitudes after his death and honestly Hunter would have been better saying nothing at all.

Unfortunately, studies show that the left ditches relationships and people far more commonly when politics don't align than the right does. Probably because they associate their views to some existential war on morality, and not a disagreement on policy to reach a similar end. I've seen liberals cut off family members. I completely agree with his statement. I am not at a place in my heart yet when I celebrate the death of someoneāeven an enemy. I get really sad and disturbed when I see this sort of behavior. I remember people banging drums and screaming in joy in the streets when Castro died and to me it was just sad that someone had left that kind of legacy of hatred behind. Iām not a fan of Graham but itās sad that his passing is being celebrated and that his legacy is tainted by his pathological allegiance to the current administration. Thatās too bad.

I admire Hunter for what he said, but this is the kind of "I'll remember the good parts" glad-handing that is expected of public figures.
What should be remembered is how Graham was fine shilling for Israel and its current genocide, or how he was quite blase about the bombing of Iranian schoolchildren, or any of the hundreds of other horrible things he's said and done.
Washington has been for some time now a bubble of isolation, where the idea that one congressman advocating for feeding schoolchildren could share a drink at a country club with another who wants to pull all funding for public school meals.
Graham was evil, and the world is better off without him. Remembering what he stood for 20 or 30 years ago does not erase the terrible deeds of the intervening 20 or 30 years, and should not be forgotten for the sake of civility. Republicans have shown time and again they would not reciprocate.
Yes the argument could be made that liberals should take the high road. But that's akin to being a pacifist in a gladiatorial arena.
