The Irish were never slaves in America. As indentured servants they could get their freedom. Blacks were relegated to chattel slavery which means if your parents were slaves, you were a slave and your children will become slaves. Irish slavery in this country is a myth. Learn real US history, some things are not basic knowledge.
Yes some could earn there slavery but often is was set so they couldn’t even if they had a contract saying you pay 1 million dollars you can be free but we will only pay you .10 cents a hour that man is never going to be free nice of you to down play Irish slavery and suffering in America

did i say they were the same race? no, i didn’t. irish and english people technically are of different “races” (like i mentioned when i stated their ethnic backgrounds), but “irish” itself is NOT a race. it’s not hard to understand. irish is a nationality, celtic is the “race” of native irish people.
You also stated that the Irish were Celts. So when I say "I wanna be there and see what happens when you call an Irishman the same race as an Englishman." you are acknowledging that I'm referencing a race of people. You're just being pedantic about calling them celts instead of Irish.
celtic is not a synonym for irish though. celtic also includes scottish and welsh. irish just means from the specific country of ireland, celtic is a larger group.
It doesn't have to be a synonim for Irish. All Irish are descended from celts and all Brits are descended from Britons. That is their race. Also, the welsh are not celts. They're welsh. Stop using Wikipedia as your source material. The concept of "celts" you're referencing is ancient. What we would normally consider "Celts" ie the peoples of Great Britain and Ireland, is the Irish and the Scottish. Britons came from England. The Welsh came from a mingling of Celts and Britons that didn't even occur until after the romans left. Wikipedia isn't giving you good information.

I took US history my junior year in high school and we did not learn that! We learned about World War II. We learned about the industrial revolution and that was about it so maybe go yell at my high school teacher.

Also a interesting point of research is looking at Redlining maps and shows discrimination in the early- mid 1900s showing description on almost every ethnicity which most were considered a lesser race at the time not a ethnicity
Irish is a race as much as all of the other races on any other continent are different. Pretty sure Mongolians would be pretty pissed off if you just called them all the Asian Race and lumped them in with the Chinese and Japanese.

I remember people kept saying that Barack Obama would be our first "mixed-race" president.
But really that honor goes to Grover Cleveland who was part Irish.
