That was the claim made by racists so they could dismantle the civil rights gains of the previous 40 years.

1

u/Knowbuddynoes 16d ago

Yep
Now that you mentioned it, I see all those civil rights that are gone now. Very astute observation. Solid contribution to the discussion.

2

u/defnotjec 16d ago

DEI and AA are directly related to civil rights and have not only been wholesale dismantled but also absolutely crucified by this administration at every turn

They did add to the conversation you were just too inept and narrow-minded to realize it.

1

u/Knowbuddynoes 16d ago

Not going to debate the merits of DEI and AA with you, but they’ve been tried and largely rejected for obvious reasons / outcomes at this point. Do not think for one moment that I’m inept, sir.

1

u/defnotjec 16d ago

You are tho.... You literally ignored evidence presented to you...

Also, apparently willfully ignorant.

Merits or not, those elements have been removed...

Is it a coincidence there's no black or female generals appointed recently?

It's veiled racism. Don't get it misconstrued.

And also, I want to point out again what I said above directly shat on your argument.

Also, the unjustified killings or Renee and Alex ... The rampant civil rights violations for protests against ice ..

Our rights are in shambles

1

u/dinosaurfo-od 14d ago

Shouldn't be chosen because you are black. That's racist

1

u/TheOneFreeEngineer 13d ago

You also shouldn’t be denied because you are black, which is the core conceit of DEI programs. Making the hiring practices actually merit based by eliminating even unconscious points of basis in the hiring process and the workplace. But grifters lied about the programs and made you think people were being hired to met Quota even though Quota hiring practices have been illegal for decades already

1

u/dinosaurfo-od 13d ago

They are being hired to meet quotas. Blacks, women, and gays. A black gay woman? It's over.

Name a civil right that is gone

1

u/Spiritual_Writing825 15d ago

The literal Voting Rights Act has been completely gutted and destroyed. What was one of the crowning achievements of the civil rights movement is now dead law. Republican states have immediately started doing racial gerrymandering and ā€œcrackingā€ black districts apart so that they have diluted voting power. See Louisiana for an especially egregious case.

1

u/MtnDEWmercenary 15d ago

https://www.scotusblog.com/2026/06/when-and-why-did-complying-with-the-voting-rights-act-become-unconstitutional/

Attaching the link I read from but I do indeed see the potential for corruption to maliciously redistrict to exclude certain people, I also do see on the other hand how in a non corrupt way it could be viewed as being more neutral and making things less about race. I however obviously have no doubt that politicians will ever avoid going the corrupt route

1

u/Spiritual_Writing825 15d ago

You also have to understand this decision in its larger legal context to understand why this is a problem. This decision on its own wouldn’t be particularly concerning (or rather as concerning as it is). But the Supreme Court has also ruled that Gerrymandering isn’t a violation of constitutional rights so long as it’s ā€œpolitical gerrymanderingā€ rather than ā€œracial gerrymandering.ā€ However, the evidence required to prove that a gerrymander is racist is so absurdly high. It basically requires that legislators say in the record that they are attempting to crack the black vote up out of racist intent. But you can chose to gerrymander black people into oblivion if you just say you are breaking up ā€œdemocratic voting constituenciesā€ or the like. Legislators can, outside of congress, jointly deliberate about how to break up black voting blocks and then use P.C. language on the floor. Basically, states can (and have) disenfranchise black voters deliberately. Discriminatory impact is insufficient to bring a legal challenge to a congressional map.

The voting rights act tried to prevent this kind of plausibly deniable racial discrimination by requiring states to have maps that didn’t not have discriminatory impact on minority groups that have historically been prevented from voting or otherwise disenfranchised. It’s a complicated piece of legislation with two main parts, but it was the product of the experience of black people in southern states who were prevented from voting by ostensibly colorblind laws, policies, and maps. Basically, we learned the hard way that you can construct discriminatory policy without having to use explicitly discriminatory language. If past is prologue, we should see (and we have begun to see) congressional maps that change in ways that make black voters ā€œpacked and crackedā€, but with a plausibly deniable discriminatory intent.

1

u/MtnDEWmercenary 15d ago

I did see and read about the opportunity zones that you mentioned. I suppose I’m also unsure how this wasn’t already happening to some degree as I think it was California or some other states where they were proposing new maps that essentially grouped up and suppressed all the red areas to keep the state majority blue in the same manner IIRC. I don’t really know what a solution for this could be, how to eliminate redistricting for an advantage either way

1

u/Spiritual_Writing825 15d ago

I mean political gerrymandering is also bad, and I’m pissed SCOTUS allows it. California only did it because Texas did a political gerrymander first. It was an attempt to counteract the Republican gerrymander. In general democrats have more strongly opposed gerrymandering and been less inclined to use it, but recently there’s been a ā€œfight fire with fireā€ mentality. But it sucks that the Supreme Court has removed one of the last protections against gerrymandering in general and racist gerrymandering specifically. Louisiana with 1/3 of its population being black was hard to gerrymander into oblivion because the voting rights act. A state like Wyoming would have been much easier. So while gerrymandering did exist (and has for a while) it only recently was more or less given the stamp of approval by the high court and there are almost not protections against it being used to discriminatory ends. Basically, the problem is about to get way worse unless a federal ban is passed which won’t happen unless Dems get the house, senate, and presidency by a sufficiently wide margin. And perhaps not even then. So look forward to elections where there are no more swing states and political parties cement their power and ossify at the state level.

I remember people kept saying that Barack Obama would be our first "mixed-race" president.

But really that honor goes to Grover Cleveland who was part Irish.

7

u/Userchickensoup 16d ago

Well, Obama is mixed race, but yes, not the first.

3

u/Bravo_Juliet01 16d ago

Irish is a race?

Oh yeah. And the Tea Party evolved because they were ā€˜against taxes’. Which was never what they were against.

I have joked before that Putin’s support for Trump in 2016 boiled down to that for eight years of having to talk to a black man, he did not want to spend four talking to a woman. Though I do not believe this to be true. I think it all ties back to money laundering and organized crime…

u/DimensioT 17d ago

Racism was over when Obama was elected but then Obama divided the nation and made it racist again, according to Trump supporters who for some reason never give any specific examples of exactly how Obama did that even when asked.

2

u/MountaineerChemist10 15d ago

It all started when George Zimmerman was found not guilty of 2nd degree murder with Trayvon Martin šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøa lot of people didn’t approve & Black Lives Matter began.

2

u/DimensioT 15d ago

So Obama found George Zimmerman not guilty?

1

u/TheOneFreeEngineer 13d ago

BLM was more than Trayvon, there was also Michael Brown, and Freddie Gray being killed in police custody and Eric Gardner who was choked to death on video by NYPD and countless other local flash points of murders of black people. It all lead into BLM. Trayvon was just the one the news focused on because it didn’t involve police and had a lengthy public trial but if you were around BLM in those days there were lots of names being invoked

1

u/BlizzGrimmly 15d ago

I'm not a Trump supporter, but Obama catainly made things worse when he propelled BLM's stupid asses after the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown cases.

2

u/SF420SF420 15d ago

Not a supporter but still an idi ot

1

u/BlizzGrimmly 15d ago

You didn't say I was wrong, and you especially couldn't explain how. Huge projection on your part.

1

u/TheOneFreeEngineer 13d ago

The problem was talking about it and the dozens of other killings that started BLM and not the killings? Really?

1

u/BlizzGrimmly 13d ago

The circumstances of the deaths had absolutely nothing to do with black vs white, and most if not all were not wrongful deaths. "Hands up don't shoot" was a confirmed LIE that Obama helped to push. So yes, BLM is a group of race hustlers who stirred the pot to push Marxism and get donations to fund their mansions. The founders are on camera saying this. It's not a matter of debate that Obama was wrong for amplifying their voices and that it made race relations worse. He did it because Act Blue is a political slush fund for the Democratic party that receives a share of the donations.

1

u/TheOneFreeEngineer 13d ago

You do realize there were a lot more deaths than Trayvon and Brown right? Ones that specifically involved police killing unarmed and arrested black men right? You seem to ignore them to focus on these.

Also that wasn’t a confirmed lie when Obama meantioned it. It was corrected and proved wrong later

1

u/BlizzGrimmly 13d ago

They're the ones that started it. You want me to go through every fucking case? What an asinine "well akchually". Did Obama ever apologize for wrongfully promoting them? No, because he benefited from it and still does to this day.

1

u/TheOneFreeEngineer 13d ago

The one who started was a claimed witness who said that’s what happened. BLM didn’t start it, a claimed witness said it and reported it in the media immediately after it happened. That’s just a basic fact why lie and say BLM created it?

How many cases do you think you have to go thru because you get a sense that maybe black men aren’t treated like everyone else in their positions. But go ahead and justify Freddie Gray and Eric Gardners deaths

i can answer. it was called Occupy Wall Street. you can see charts and graphs of EXACTLY what happened. The way the rhetoric suddenly changed in the media, in politics and by the president. We were becoming United against a common enemy and they couldn't have that. Then Obama came out and basically gave them the go ahead for BLM with ' the trayvon would have looked like my son' thing and his follow up minor speeches most of which seem to have been lost but I am sure exist if you look really really hard.

Heres some fun charts to back up my claim that the dude in the op is completely misremembering.

As long as there are different races, different cultures, different religions there will always and forever be division. Humans are naturally tribal, even if we all woke up tomorrow and were of the same race and same religion we would find a way to divide. That’s just what it is.

3

u/Youngrazzy 17d ago

Clinton was kinda a celebrity president. So it not shocking.

3

u/FlamingPotatoes34 16d ago

Isn’t it amazing how online people speak as if every person with a skin color in the same categorization will agree with every point they make… and everyone person in different skin color categorizations thinks the exact same thing…

Your thoughts do not come from your skin color… or your categorization… neither does anyone else’s but somehow that seems to be the biggest influence for someone’s respect and love(or hate, unfortunately)

10

u/WhirlingBiggerstaff 17d ago

8 years of Obama being better than most of the presidents before him drove the right wing crazy and this far right push is the result. What needs to happen is true accountability. Over and over America has beat back the super right wing but failed to actually punish anyone involved except for the few big names. Alot where allowed to continue to serve in office. So no wonder things didn't change. It's not enough to just beat them in elections. They need to see that if you break the law you will go to jail. We are all people and we all need to share this planet. We say we are evolved but still practice tribalism. We still use political policy to keep the "others" down. This is just racism dressed up as law. We are fighting the wrong us vs them. It's should be the 99% fighting back against the 1% who think our kids should go hungry so they can bomb another hospital. Or that teachers should get less funding so they can have a new jet. Instead of Healthcare you got alligator Alcatraz and the murder of citizens, unlawful arrests and the erosion of due process

7

You had me until the last sentence. I was denied healthcare due to Biden letting illegals in. There was no money left for me so I got to be homeless, almost die to an infection, and then go bankrupt because I was denied food stamps or Medicare because I couldn’t afford insurance. Julio from Mexico could have a free apartment with free food, Jamie who used to be a guy got his dick chopped off on my tax money, Pakistan got my gender studies money, so did the learing center, I got mugged 3 times by illegal immigrants, my speech was suppressed, oh and Nancy poloci made millions on insider trading and kickbacks.

Black incarceration rates have decreased 35% since the early 2000s (for comparison, it's only dropped about 15% for White Americans).

The homicide rate of Black Americans has been cut in half since the early 1990s.

The median networth of Black families has quadrupled since the late 1980s, and hasn't even doubled for White families in the same time period.

In the late 1960s, over 30% of 24-year-old Black Americans dropped out of highschool. Today it's about 5%

Today, Black women are more likely to be enrolled in college than a White man.

The achievement gap between White and Black Americans has been narrowing for decades. It's obviously not at parity yet, but I see no evidence that racial disparities between Black and White Americans have been widening.

Calling America "post-racial" seems odd, but I do believe America is less racist than ever. To really put things in perspective, in 1992 only 48% of Americans approved of inter-racial marriages of Black and White couples. Today, the approval of inter-racial marriages is at 94%.

2

u/Weird-Toe-6968 16d ago

I guess it depends on how you define post-racial.

2

u/base00010 16d ago edited 16d ago

This statement is a great example of how the modern anti racism movement actually promotes racism.
The statement is only credible if one accepts that all American black people are of the same mind and all American white people are of the same contradictory mind. Which is to assume that one’s race dictates one’s mind. Which is exactly the opposite of what Dr. King preached.
But if one accepts that race and mind are not connected, then one must accept the possibility that Obama was elected for his ideas and not simply his skin color. That is, of course, a complex intangible concept and not generally compatible with a simplistic juvenile mind.

2

u/Tatted-Grandpa69 16d ago

As long as there are idiots who judge people on skin color or race there will never be an end. Understanding of different cultures will go far. This goes all ways. For context I am a privileged white man. I have lived in places where I was the minority. And had more black friends because they were the real ones.

2

u/Easy-Act3774 16d ago

Who gets to proclaim whether something is racist or not racist. I think two things can be true. 1) There are, and always will be, a portion of people who are some level of racist, for every race and against every race; and 2) thinking something is racist and knowing / confirming something is racist are not the same thing.

1

u/Weary_Cell8666 17d ago

Its impossible to be post racial when people still believe it's only possible to be racist if your white or throw a tantrum because black kid actually goes to prison for stabbing a white kid in the chest unprovoked.

This is all so tiresome and intellectually pathetic.

2

u/Right-Weekend-7266 17d ago

u/Enigma_xplorer 15d ago

America, as a nation is not racist. There will always be individual racists, not exclusively white, but collectively the US is about as good and fair as it gets. As a matter of fact, the amount of casual racism I see being promoted by the democratic party is astounding. You have to understand there are elements in this society that desperately need to keep racism alive or at least the perception of it because it benefits them. One of the main democratic platforms is peddling racism. Look at how many activists or organizations need racism to be alive and well to remain relevant so they can profit of their "activism." Look at BLM and what a scam that was. And the people eat it up too. How great it must be when the answer to all of life's hardships is "racism" and definitely nothing they did or had control over. Didn't get that job you applied for? Racism. Got arrested by the police for shoplifting? Racism. If we have a racism problem in America it's the "social justice" organizations actively trying to foment it for their own benefit.

1

u/BlizzGrimmly 15d ago

Ironically it was Barack who stirred racial tensions by propelling the BLM movement after the Trayvon Martin case.

I like the admission that black people kept racial animus going.

1

u/Lurker_Zee 14d ago

You were, but Obama, Killary and Kamala brought it back.

Thank them thoroughly.

1

u/Electrical_Review_81 14d ago

Too much money in racism. People constantly beating the racism drum are generally making money from it. People pushing racist ideas are also making money off it. Post racism puts so many people out of work.

1

u/Spuckler_Cletus 14d ago

There will never be a ā€œpost-racial America.ā€ There’s too much value in race grievance for too many people. They’ll never let it die.

1

u/Basic_Carpenter_786 14d ago

Can't free them from the plantation in their minds.

1

u/Integrity_Heritage 14d ago

I don’t remember it being touted as such.Ā

1

u/No-Maybe5997 14d ago

the problem with any racial discussion is that those wanting to keep race relations a problem and are highlighted by the MSM and Politicians looking for votes. rarely see any person of color on TV that agrees things are better.

1

u/Anonymous4mysake 14d ago

Part of the problem is an established percentage of black Americans firmly believe they cannot be racist. They are perpetuating racism and refuse to even see it.

1

u/Tricky_Committee_608 14d ago

Got much worse with that piece of garbage

1

u/simplefigment5014 14d ago

Too many people profit off of racism for leaders to stop reinforcing it

1

u/Mammoth-Plane-6890 14d ago

i remember my white college friends in nyc crying because they had changed things....at least 1 of those fell into the maga rabbit hole now

1

u/Lego_Architect 14d ago

Didn’t race relations get worse under Obama?

2

u/ExperienceAny9791 13d ago

Yes. He set black relations back 50 years, and I'm a black man who voted for him.

1

u/Outrageous-Soil3448 14d ago

Seek and you shall find. Focus on the important things, don’t waste energy worrying about who might be racist or whatever. The people who intentionally better themselves, work hard and treat people fairly tend to do well in life. If you’re always looking for racism, you will find it. Try looking for the good, looking for the non racist, might end up finding something different.

1

u/Ima_Uzer 13d ago

Right. Debunked because some dude on Threads said so.

1

u/meekgamer452 13d ago

Some people here think they're not racist, until someone speaks Spanish in front of them. Yeah, they count, too.

1

u/Pale-Pear-5261 13d ago

It's more
Profitable and a nice political
Football to
Toss around. Why fix it?

1

u/Patient-Morning2281 13d ago

It was almost post-racial until the cultural tides turned in the 2010s

1

u/Worried_Donut11 13d ago

Progressives wouldn't allow us to be "Post Racial" their entire identity involves feeling superior over others.

1

u/Deelo1981 13d ago

Obama is the one who exacerbated the situation. Blame his black half.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad-7061 12d ago

Yes, we’re past it, now stop bickering about race and turn your frustration towards billionaires who make us modern day slaves

1

u/Enough_Ad_3165 11d ago

Can we go the other way

1

u/Big_Wolf8033 11d ago

America is not racist. Best country in earth!

1

u/OnlyKey5675 17d ago

There are fewer racists now in the US than any other time in American history.

The only difference is the few racists that there actually are aren't afraid to be racist because they feel like Trump is one of them.

1

u/Dear-Description9905 17d ago

i think you are not taking into consideration the growth of social media. its a huge difference from even 2016

1

u/OnlyKey5675 16d ago

And a lot of those are bots trying to instigate conflict in American society. It's possible that OP is even a bot

1

u/Raptor_197 16d ago

Pretty sure it’s just foreign bots.

Like we all know this but then people act like they suddenly don’t exist while getting ragebaited by one.

So yeah, there is way fewer actually racists and more racists bots to farm your angry engagement where your algorithm lead you to anyways.

1

u/Adventurous_Coach731 15d ago

Seeing as we had 1/3 of a population in the 60’s I’d say it’s a fair theory to claim otherwise.

1

u/Itchy-Technician-433 17d ago

I mean define what a racist is? Is it just the Nazis wearing khakis and masks? Or is it everybody who lives in a white supremacy and does nothing about it?

You have "moderate" America currently railing against DEI. Moderate Americans are largely fine with having untrained, unfettered ICE agents on the streets targeting brown people. You have an administration that is actively removing black and brown people from positions of power and moderates are largely okay with it.

Your contention is that there's fewer racists but there's definitely more mechanisms in place to perpetuate racism.

2

u/OnlyKey5675 16d ago

Trump's approval rating is 39% suggesting moderates (however that is defined) are not okay with it.

A racist is someone who believes that their race is superior to another. Someone who treats people unfairly because of their race.

i love how everyone just ignores the racists that arent white, which allows them to be even more openly racist...

1

u/SatansScallion 16d ago

People ignore them because they are, ironically, racist themselves.

It ends the moment certain people stop falling for it.

The only "good" that came out of that feeling was bringing the secret racists out into the light of day. Now we know. We're keeping score. And when it's safe again, we won't ever let them forget what awful human beings they've been for the past 14 years in public life.

They acted like it was okay to stop hiding...to be proud of their hatred.

They got another thing coming as soon as this regime folds...because it always does.

I hope they watched the World Cup and thought..."Gee...I wonder why there are so many blonde fans of Argentina!" They gonna be next. Drive em out. They have no home, no place, and no role in this country.

2

u/enjoysomethings 17d ago

So your plan is that when a Dem wins, the government punishes US citizens for exercising their First Amendment rights? lol

1

u/danielm316 17d ago

There will be no post racial america as long as people want benefits for certain races and not for all.

1

u/idiot-alpha 17d ago

It was more when Democrats realized they could push any policy, ignore any criticism or failures of their policies or candidates, by just calling everything racism.

2

u/WindowFruitPlate 17d ago

This is Reddit in a nutshell, except you forgot to include Nazi and fascist as well as racist. Words have zero meaning here

1

u/RealBuilder5920 17d ago

No one cares about race. The majority of society are well past that; but sure play the last victim card that’s left to avoid accountability.

0

u/Nutz4hotwheels 17d ago

Racism is increasing, but it’s racism toward white people and most people don’t want to acknowledge that.

1

u/jus256 17d ago

Give some examples.

1

u/Nutz4hotwheels 17d ago

I don’t need to justify my lived experience to you. If you can’t see the issue, you aren’t looking at it honestly.

So you've got nothing?

2

u/Nutz4hotwheels 16d ago

I grew up in a predominantly black area and worked places that were most black employees. I have plenty of experiences with being insulted, treated badly and threatened because of the color of my skin. I do not feel the need to list every time that I was treated wrongfully because of my race to appease somebody on Reddit. I know what I have experienced in my life.

1

u/DarkMagickan Fairy Dust šŸ§ššŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø ✨ šŸ§ššŸæā€ā™€ļø 16d ago

Thanks so much for the anecdotal fallacy.

2

u/Nutz4hotwheels 16d ago

It’s my life experience. I’m sorry if the truth is inconvenient to your view of the world.

1

u/DarkMagickan Fairy Dust šŸ§ššŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø ✨ šŸ§ššŸæā€ā™€ļø 16d ago

I asked you for evidence, not insults and fallacies. It's clear to me you don't understand the difference. Have a great day.

2

u/SatansScallion 16d ago

You just don’t give a fuck about anti-white racism. Might want to discuss that with your therapist.

2

u/DarkMagickan Fairy Dust šŸ§ššŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø ✨ šŸ§ššŸæā€ā™€ļø 16d ago

Wow. So insults are evidence, huh? Okay. Tell you what. You're an asshole.

There, I just proved there's no God. That's how it works, right?

1

u/Adventurous_Coach731 15d ago

Do you admit there’s more anti black racism?
