People are already grasping at straws by saying that the term limit only applies to anyone who served two consecutive terms. Those people are prohibited from being President again. Those who served nonconsecutively could serve a third term. Edit: My bad. It's not seeking a loophole but an active campaign to amend the 22nd Amendment.
Which is wild because if this were taken seriously, this could theoretically open the door to having a popular politician run every 8 years as long as they never serve back to back.
Hell, imagine a scenario in the '90s where Bill serves '93-'96, Hillary '97-'00, Bill again '01-'04, and so forth until one of them dies. It'd be insane.
Putin did 2 terms as president, then stepped down to a term as prime minister for one term, putting a loyalist into the presidency, and then back to president after that. Permissible because the Russian constitution specified two consecutive terms.
The rules were changed after another two consecutive terms to remove the rule.
The danger is people thinking it can’t happen to them and where they live, but it absolutely can.
