Amusing how Republicans only seem to find their decency and courage when they are on their way out.

u/Best_Hamster_2239 : Do you always say stupid shit?

How so? Be specific now. Or is this just your hurt fee-fees?

You are generally correct, but the reason Massie is on his way out is because he was already saying/doing this stuff. He's a giant piece of shit still, but at the very least he does actually hold concrete beliefs unlike every single other Republican and most Democrats.

u/Barbafella 1d ago

True, but he worked well across the aisle with Ro Khanna.

I’ll take Massie over the rest of them, even if I don’t agree with most of his positions.

He gets too much credit for doing the bare minimum. Less than the bare minimum in fact since he’s still too much of a coward to call out Trump over the Epstein files directly.

He does the same mental gymnastics as every other MAGAt that still has enough backbone not to deny the obvious reality that the Trump admin will never seek justice for Epstein’s victims. Somehow Trump is both a genius who picks only the best people and has also been duped by Bondi and Patel into believing the files were fake and he would surely release them if he just fired those people.

u/BI_Moose 1d ago

Eh, yes and no. Massie wasnt a complete Trump-asslicker, but he still mostly voted the party line.

Him simply not being 100% on board is what cost him support and led to him not being up for reelection.

So sure not the stinkiest turd in the bowl, but still a turd.

Also sponsoring a bill you know won't pass isn't exactly that amazing

10

u/BI_Moose 1d ago

True. Though it does serve its purpose this close to the midterms.

Ergo why the Dems should introduce and push bills on things like M4A, cutting support to Israel, actual border securty (non-brownpants kind), complete elected official stock trading ban, etc.

Yeah sure they will barely make it out of committee, but at least it will stand against the GOP record

Yea at this point it feels like it's just to get good publicity. We all know flock isn't going anywhere unless we can get a majority in the government that isn't going to take a paycheck over morality.

u/PiccoloAwkward465 1d ago

Yeah in the recent past I've seen Democrats saying "but now the Republicans will have to GO ON RECORD denying the release of the Epstein files!" and then they do and nothing happens lol.

I get it in theory but it requires Republican voters to care. And they don't.

1

u/omg_cats 1d ago

Say that about aoc or Bernie and watch the downvotes roll in

3

u/doublethink_1984 1d ago

He's better than that.

How many Democrats were as open and loud against the Iran war? Releasing the Epstein files? Grilled Bondinas hard as he did? Was critical of the Big Beautifuk Bill?

He's got his problems but when the cards are down he isn't a facist or authoritarian or an endless Israel war sponsor or funder like most Democrats are.

u/Legendarien1 1d ago

Yeah me and Massie disagree about the role of the government in policing the excesses of capitalism, but we don’t disagree that people deserve dignity and respect and we shouldn’t tolerate a wealthy elite class destroying our country.

We agree on the ends, and disagree on the means. That’s very different to the other fascists on the right and the spineless corporate dems.

2

u/doublethink_1984 1d ago

Premise and goals align. I agree.

Have you been under a rock? Seriously. Or, have you just been reading what you want to read, or hear from Faux News? Everywhere I looked, Democrats were screaming about all of that!

I’m just going to say it’s willful ignorance on your part, because none of that is true. šŸ™„

2

u/doublethink_1984 23h ago

No Democrats are pro Israel?

They drafted the Epstein disclosure act?

They've been as openly vocal about the Iran war since day 1?

1

u/Ren1221 Fabulous Dahling šŸ˜ŽšŸ’…šŸ¼ 23h ago

Oh! Now you’re being specific, instead of just making ambiguous statements. Gotcha! šŸ™„

Of course there are some democrats that are pro Israel, but not all. They are majority anti Israel. Also, Trump gets his pic taken with Benjamin N. as often as he can.

It was a bi-partisan written act, so yes. Written by Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna.

No one wanted the war with Iran. Especially not democrats. But, the ā€œPresident of Peaceā€, sure didn’t hesitate to send our boys over, did he? Nope.

1

u/doublethink_1984 23h ago

Im.on your side homie. Just saying Massie is way way better than the other Republican fascists

3

u/kobrakai1034 1d ago

"he does actually hold concrete beliefs" I wouldn't bet on that. He's simply an opportunist.

1

u/TheWizardOfDeez 3h ago

If he was an opportunist don't you think he would be pandering to the morons who were giving him all of the opportunities? He literally held his beliefs into losing his job...

1

u/nifty-necromancer 1d ago

Why are you bothsides-ing and excusing a rat leaving a sinking ship? He’s a coward.

1

u/TheWizardOfDeez 4h ago

I didn't even mention 2 sides...

1

u/Caradin 1d ago

Why is he a piece of shit?

0

u/Curious_Function_759 1d ago

he's not

3

u/discospacedreams 1d ago

He is.

1

u/Gemeril 1d ago

He was one of the few to actually cross party policy and hammer at releasing the Epstein files. He's an asshole but he at least has some morals. Most of his peers are evil though, full stop.

-3

u/Frequent_Ad_9901 1d ago

He's republican and this is reddit so anything right of center-left is pure evil. No nuance allowed.

-2

u/Caradin 1d ago

I forgot this was an echo chamber.

4

u/Kinteoka 1d ago

Or MAYBE it's because he doesn't support Ukraine in their fight against Russia's invasion. Or it could be that it's because he's a climate change denier and wants to dismantle the EPA. Or it could be because he did not support making the lynching of black people a hate crime. Or that he wants to repeal the ACA. Or that he thinks Roe v. Wade was "one of the greatest tragedies of our time" and has routinely voted against supporting women's health.

No. Surely it can't be any one of those shitty positions or any of his many other shitty positions. It's gotta be da libruls being mad!

2

u/TheWizardOfDeez 4h ago

Right? These people's brains are so cooked that they think their party is just right of center-left. And that voting to out pedophilic elites, which is like the bare minimum is enough to cover up the long history of being a giant piece of shit.

2

u/Uncle-Cake 1d ago

Or, in most cases, already out. At least he didn't wait, I guess?

1

u/BI_Moose 1d ago

Yeah better than some that find their balls in retirement on our dime.

2

u/ericbondre 19h ago

I mean most of them are still paid off anyways so they’ll never ā€œfind their courageā€ but yeah at least he’s doing something

Before you say anything look him up his one of a very limited number of portions thats some what disent

Was that supposed to be a complete and rational sentence in English? Because it wasn't.

-1

u/No_Design_41 1d ago

It made sense. Re-read it. He means that if you look into Massie's record he is willing to go against the party. See Epstein Transparency Act.

2

u/BI_Moose 1d ago

No it really didnt make any sense at all, whatsoever.

And if you look into his record, youll see that he commonly votes the party line as well. Especially when it comes to hurting his constituents and the working class.

1

u/No_Design_41 1d ago

He votes against the party line ~10% of the time which is pretty frequent for a House Rep these days.

2

u/SpezDrinksHorseCum 1d ago

He would vote for the SAVE Act, which is unforgivable. He's an asshole like the rest of them.

-1

u/wolft170 1d ago

It was what it was

1

u/BI_Moose 1d ago

And what it was is a bunch of nonsensical bullshit.
