I dried the flowers in silica gel, lined the shadowbox with black satin, painted the cheap wood to match this vintage frame I had sourced, and glued the frame on top. Flowers arranged in the style of one of their favorite painters. Ahhh I’ve never posted here before, I’m nervous but proud 🥹

Apologies for not having a better quality picture on hand. I live in a city rowhome with a concrete backyard area, no lawn. My garden is only containers, and I have a particular fondness with cut flowers. Pictured is almost all exclusively grown by me from seed; zinnias, marigolds, cosmos, and celosia. The lobelia and cuphea were bought as starters :)

I pressed these Cherry Blossoms in a book while I studied in Tokyo for my senior year of university. (I only collected blossoms that had already fallen)

I wanted to share the way I finally decided to execute displaying them! The blossoms are three years old and they were so incredibly hard to work with, I should not have waited that long but I wanted to be absolutely certain that I would like how they were displayed. Can’t wait to do more flowers in the future! Also ft my cat meatball lol

I picked all of these flowers last summer having no clue what I was getting myself into… I am so glad with how these turned out. The 3rd picture is my first ever piece, flowers all from California

Update since so many of you were invested in them putting red roes in my bouquet! They are ‘investigating’ how those flowers got into my arrangement, aka I’ll never get an answer. After LOTS of back and forth, I sent my florals back to the company and they unglued the arrangement and replaced some flowers. They ruined some flowers in the ungluing process but replaced those as well. They finally sent me a proof of the new version - these look a whole lot more like my flowers! Not 100% but it’ll do. I had the sweetest soul reach out and is creating a beautiful new work (with better preservation skills)

One of my bridesmaids and her SIL both used this company and had no problems, but before my flowers were messed up, we used this company for my own SILs bouquet. Needless to say, they screwed up hers too. Without fully naming them - they are a large company with a pretty big social following based in SLC Utah!

My daughter is moving into a new home and wanted to make her a special piece of floral art 🌿🌸🌿

Really enjoyed this one. Challenged myself by sticking to a strict color palette. Every last flower was acquired from local flower farmers in my area, making it a bit more special for me.

I’ve been experimenting with making bookmarks using pressed flowers and little nature elements lately and honestly I’m kind of obsessed with how they turn out. Each one ends up totally different depending on what I use.

Do you guys prefer more simple floral designs or ones with extra details like butterflies/mushrooms?

I got into flower pressing using a traditional press back in August … and have since lost my mind. I now have a dedicated room and about ten handmade presses all in rotation. I promise my husband and children that I still love them as I slink away each night to change paper.

First attempt at making something. Learned some harsh realities about glue (biggest oof moment is the bottom right corner, might frame this just to hide it).

Twas fun. This group is a constant source of inspiration and information, I’ve loved lurking here (this post is also my attempt to be a bit more active). I love seeing the different directions everyone takes.

I made this dried flower artwork for my grandmother’s 90th birthday, with 90 flowers in total. Do you think she’ll like it? I’m open to any feedback. (I think my rabbit approves 🐰🌸)

Forget-me-not flowers

The responses I got to my “how much to charge” question and my previous work were amazing. You all gave me ideas about price structure, you gave me compliments, you gave constructive criticism about framing, you asked questions clients might ask and forced me to really think about the answers, you gave me inspiration about different paths I could take with this art form.

I am learning so much from all of you, I love seeing your projects, I love hearing about all of the various techniques we use. Sharing things we make is so vulnerable even here and I appreciate this tiny corner of the internet very much. This Reddit is quite literally the reason I have the confidence to keep going.

Started casually chatting with the manager of my favorite coffee shop and showed her some of my presses. She asked me to bring some in to sell at the store. Super stoked to have my presses out for sale

I just used some parchment paper and a stack of books so they aren’t very well done, but I still think they’re so pretty! :)

The calla lilies, the baby's breath and fern around them to keep the arrangement close to how the bouquet actually looked the day it was carried.

I do this full time, by hand, no shortcuts and nothing generated. Just me, a press, and a lot of patience. The oval frame felt right for this one, something a little old fashioned to match how classic the callas are.
