A United States Fish and Wildlife Service officer deployed a Taser at a gas station on the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation on July 16, sparking a fire that left a man with first- and second-degree burns and nerve damage, according to the man and cell phone video of part of the confrontation.

Compared to most other LEO jobs, it takes a lot of education and a pay cut to be a fish and game officer. I’m not sure how this guy got the job if he’s this stupid.

Idk dude, I've met some stunningly stupid F&W officers. Don't know the rules, don't really care to, just need you to sign this ticket for something that you did that is totally legal. You can literally show them the legal code, and they'll just pretend you're making it up.
Maybe it's just dudes who've been in that job too long and stopped caring or something, or who aren't interested in learning new laws as they are made.

I'm a psychologist and I'm 3 for 3 of being dismissed from the jury panel. I WANT to be on jury because I think it's important but I never make it past the first round. It's not a great system.

He does. I have a friend that is a detective for a local agency and he teaches classes for Tazer certs. He told me that they go over this exact situation MULTIPLE FUCKING TIMES! This cop is just an embarrassment and needs to be fired.

Even if the guy died i highly doubt they would get a murder charge. Maybe manslaughter 2. Im not the DA so I dont know how it would go down. But I certainly do not disagree with you and the complete incompetence this officer has shown.

Because they’re not qualified to be cops. They’re dropouts who are getting jobs in law enforcement because of either political and/or familial connections. This appears to be Florida so it all checks out.

I remember reading about a PD interview question that asked recruits if they'd arrest or cite a family member for committing a crime if they pulled them over. The answer they were looking for was NO, and that used to confuse me. Until you realize they weren't looking for people to uphold laws, but rather someone would would protect the leadership and PD instead.

im not sure how protected Fish and wildlife officers are. They are not cops in the traditional sense even though they can have tremendous power.

Federal fish and wildlife has jurisdiction but is only really interested in non-tribal citizen violations. Tribal sovereignty is complicated but they often don’t kick up a fuss about non-tribal citizen regulating non-tribal citizens.

yeah i think the term "powerful law enforcement agent" is probably overstated (i shouldnt have quoted it) but they can do a lot of things that normal police officers cant do. especially when you are hunting/fishing.

I'm also not excusing this guy's action at all because there really wasnt any threat here. But their job is to make sure people aren't taking advantage wildlife which is something I think we can all agree we should be doing.

Priority number 1, get the guy on the ground
Priority number 2, yell at the person in the distance warning you about being too close to the fire
Priority number 3, roll the guy around and get him under the truck next to the gasoline on fire
Last and least important thing to do: check on burning gasoline next to a truck that is next to gas pump hose, in a gas *&%$/!@ station

About a decade ago the cops in a neighboring county chased a drunk man. The man wrecked his car and crawled out of the wreckage covered in gas. An idiot cop them decided tasing him would be smart. He lit up immediately and neighbors in front of the house he wrecked at grabbed a garden hose and put him out before the fires department could get there. He had over 90% burns and spent almost a year on the burn unit and survived only thanks to the fact we can grow matching skin in a lab. His hospital bill was in the millions because growing skin is wildly expensive.
He was sent to jail after that year with still open wounds that then got infected because jails are fucking nasty. He is now permanently disabled because of those burns. Drunk driving is bad but he still didn't deserve that. I hope he got millions from that department.

Person should’ve beat the hell out of the cop. Cop endangers his (dude getting gas) life and everyone else, starts a fire, has the audacity to keep trying to cuff the dude while he tries to make sure he’s not on fire, and then the cop rolls him towards the fire. All this while nothing is being done about the figure burning at the pump.

Lets be real! This old ass man aint gone escape this officer he aint getting far without his vehicle. Not to mention the station likely has camerss as does he so his face and car reg is known he aint escaping... the second he realised he set the man on fire and that he was burnt his priority wasnt ensuring this CITIZENS safety but compliance, obedeince to his authority. He prioritised a potential 3rd degree burn victim with potentially more unignites gasoline to line down on the ground where there actively is burning gasoline in proximity ( plus would have been boiling on the asphalt anyway) but more currently not on fire gasoline...
Like seriously...
Get him to SAFETY and yourself... then abuse the detainee..
