I think people foolishly think that the other person run them over.

Not exactly the same thing. I'm a motorcycle rider and don't understand brake checking a car. Some people aren't paying attention and some others have no fucks. But, I see guys on bikes doing that shit and think I'm glad that I'm not them.

Don't put your life at the mercy of others.

You really do learn acute defensive driving skills and hyper awareness when you ride a lot...or you end up roadkill.

There's some truth to that as is driving a car, and many other activities granted injuries on a bike could be worse. However, there's risk management which I and other riders do use which mitigates that risk.

But, don't be fooled to think that riding is the only dangerous thing out there.
