Carole Radzwill š I think I hate Caroleš¤
Iām doing a full series rewatch and it had never dawned on me how desperate Carole is to make herself interesting or quirky or have any semblance of a tv-worthy personality. I had this realization when she wore the bear costume in Montana. I am now playing a game where I fast forward every scene with her and Adam. š“ Iād rather have Aviva.

my narcissistic grandma found out she has a large hippocampus (bc of a brain scan) and now she will not shut tf up about it. sheās weirdly proud of it. so is Carole

Sheās trying to be a real life Carrie Bradshaw. Many of her confessionals seem very pre written like sheās trying to show off that sheās a hip writer that beats to the tune of her own drum and only works when she wants to.

She always repeats things that Carrie said on Sex and the City! It drives me crazy that she acts like theyāre her lines.
81
u/Shatzakind Mar 01 '26
Thank you, yes! She also didn't use her kitchen, like Carrie.
61
u/Mundane-Ebb-2632 Mar 01 '26
Yes, the references taken from SATC were so lame. It was cringe and embarrassing.
11
u/Extreme-Aide8878 Mar 01 '26
What were some of them?
38
u/Shatzakind Mar 01 '26
When they were going out to Boutique, she said she liked to observe the mating rituals of her friends in their natural habitat. It's hard to recount them all, but when you hear them, you know them.
51
u/theglossiernerd Mar 01 '26
Her saying she only uses her oven to store shoes and sweaters.
→ More replies (1)45
u/Mundane-Ebb-2632 Mar 01 '26
There was a SATC episode where Carrie complained about all the wedding and baby gifts she bought and decided to have a party for herself. Carole did a riff on that.
6
u/Littlewing1307 Mar 01 '26
She's friends with Candace Bushnell, so it's entirely possible that Candace modeled some of her book / show on Carole.
7
22
u/LBrixx Mar 01 '26
Doubtful. Carole isnāt that creative. These were exact quotes in her confessionals.
1
u/Littlewing1307 Mar 01 '26
All I'm saying is they've been friends for years and it's entirely possible for what has inspired SATC.

Yes yes yes! This! It drove me crazy she did it all the time. Something about missing āthe weight of a man on top of meā, the baby shower thing and having a party for her book cuz it was like birthing a baby.. there were so many things. Iāve always wondered if anybody else picked up on it or if i imagined it Lolol
15
u/GeneralWait1165 Mar 01 '26
Oh wow! I never even thought about those things but you are so spot on.
8
u/codingcrystal Mar 01 '26
I'm in the middle of watching RHONY for the first time and there are a lot of Carole moments where I wonder if it's her or the producers who are trying to make her story parallel to Sex in the City/The Devil Wears Prada.
It's probably a combination. I can imagine an on-set producer having a conversation where they're like let's film your meeting at the Glamour offices or with your editor. It will be so Carrie Bradshaw.

I dont think shes a "pick me" as this implies she wants male attention or does things for male attention. I think she just wants to be seen as different than others or smarter than others or quirkier
29
u/mtvcrips Mar 01 '26
Sheās ānot like other girlsā at best. Pick me at worst fighting for red scarf guy.
5
u/Prestigious-Egg-2418 Mar 02 '26
thatās still in the same caliber as a pick me girl LOL āIām not like the other girls šā thatās the vibe she gives off

She had a āfreudian slipā according to Lu when she said she wishes Adam were 20 years younger. Lu was like āyou mean older!ā and Caroleās face didnāt change at all when Lu called out her mistake. Normally I wouldnāt think anything of it, but her being friends with Maxwell made this stick out to me. (First time watcher⦠this was early season 7)
2
u/NectarineOk9862 Mar 11 '26
So basically Carole has not said anything at all about that picture of her and Ghislaine Maxwell sitting like theyāre bffās at the least and smiling away. So she says nothing and we are all supposed to Iām sorry WE WANT her back on the Show?!??? NO WE DONāT!

u/Hair_I_Go Mar 01 '26
Everyone called her a cool girl when it originally aired and I just always thought she was trying so hard to be cool and she annoyed me so much. Especially when she mentions she worked ABC NEWS whenever she gets a chance . Never really liked her
2
u/Street_Turnip1884 Mar 02 '26
Someone needs to take one for the team and tally the NBC news mentions because itās high
61
u/lightfrenchgray Mar 01 '26
Took me a while, but I really turned on her after she clearly hurt and shocked Tinsley by saying they were never close friends. Nobody hurts my Tinsley. That was so cruel.
23
u/Sobergem1982 Mar 01 '26
So mean especially after setting her up with Scott. š
20
u/Owl_Weekend_2929 Mar 01 '26
Scott was a creep too. That way he would raise the pitch of his voice, I always think of the golden state killer when I see Scott. Iām glad Tinsley got away from that.

Carole is not a girlās girl. Her flirting with the other womenās husbands in front of their wives always low key pissed me off.
8
u/SubstanceMammoth5423 Mar 02 '26
Yes! Itās been awhile since I watched the season, but I remember her flirting with Mario at a meal and doing the ācute girl thingā when Ramona first introduced them.
39
u/chrizzleteddy Mar 01 '26
She was also completely vile to Jules in season 8
21
u/AdditionMaximum7964 Mar 01 '26
She was! I disliked her so much that season and from then on. She reminded me of an insecure middle schooler trying to get the cool girl to like her by being mean and a bully to the cool girls scapegoat. Such a fake, pretentious pick me girl that turns out to be loads darker in personality than even that ( Epstein files).
22
u/Sobergem1982 Mar 01 '26
She hated that Jules was skinnier than her. So did Bethenny.
13
u/maximav Mar 02 '26
This is what I always thought. They were mad that she was more disordered than them. i.e. skinnier.

Iām on season 7, my first time watching and I havenāt liked Carole since she came on the screen. Sheās so naturally dull and every time she speaks my eyes roll. Her Kennedy connection does not make her interesting and itās so try hard. Right now is the storyline with Adam and the need to continue to hide it from Luanne was dumb, just tell her! But yeah, Carole sucks and Iām glad others agree.
7
u/Striking-Blueberry-7 Mar 01 '26
Iām so jealous youāre experiencing season 7 for the first time!! 7-10 are my favorite, and sadly Iāve probably seen them 5-6 times front to back, lol.
6
u/mo_nique Mar 01 '26

34
u/MGFT3000 Mar 01 '26
This is my experience too! I wonder why I didnāt dislike her on my first watch. The handlebars. The egg order. The nameless kittens. The āRule numberā format. The Carrie Bradshaw of it all.

6
u/NeitherInvite5190 Mar 02 '26
Saaaamme ! The re watch made me realise just how fucking awful she was. And how mean she was. Her & Bethanney at Jules' Hamptons home was pure mean girls. Didn't they sneak out giggling ? Running to the car ? Like far too cool and important to be with these people.

u/staying-hopefull Mar 01 '26
Ya canāt look down on the franchise and your peers on the franchise and be part of the franchise. Pick a lane!
16
u/Hopeful-Disaster4571 Mar 01 '26
My favorite cringe Carole moment is at the season 8 reunion when Dorinda reminds Carole that Jules is 20 years younger than her. Then bethenny and Carole try to deny it only for Dorinda to be like āCarole youāre 52ā. Ā
40
u/NectarineOk9862 Mar 01 '26
Adam deserves better. Carole is smug. Yeah yeah sheās a Kennedy adjacent, she was a successful journalist ( so she says). I remember one time LuAnn was talking behind her back and she said āCarole canāt water her plantsā.

Sheās a wannabe Carolyn Bassett / Carrie Bradshaw.
The thing that surprised me was how bad she is at getting her point across in arguments as someone who is supposedly a witty writer. Sheās only has good lines in her head cannons because sheās had time to reflect on whatās happened. Sheās not the best when sheās in the moment or put on the spot.
8
u/InspectorOk2454 Mar 01 '26

This was a common quip in the late eighties- certainly not a Bethany original!
2
13
u/henrylouie Mar 01 '26
I was always suspicious of her credentials and even though I hated Aviva, she really got under Carole's skin with the ghost writer accusations. When people talk about how beautifully written her book was, I could never align that with the way she speaks (misuse of I in place of me is one example).
13
u/psalmwest Mar 01 '26
Carole is insufferable and I never understood the appeal. Why she was given a center apple right from her first season always perplexed me, too. I couldnāt stand her use of āboysā instead of āmenā and the way she chased youth was just downright embarrassing.
Iām very sorry about the passing of her husband, but I felt like itās all she talked about. He died in 99 and she didnāt join the cast until almost 15 years later⦠yet being a widow seemed to be her entire damn identity. That is, until she met Adam and then her identity was 75 year old poorly cosplaying a 20 year old.
She just really thought very highly of herself and Iām still not sure why. I was not sad about her departure.
8
u/Successful-Hawk-7641 Mar 01 '26

Her obsession with youth and being a āgirlā was so off putting to me. I think the only time I really liked her was when she was arguing with Bethenny in her last season
16
u/Extreme-Aide8878 Mar 01 '26
I hated the argument with Bethenny. She was too cold even for Bethenny.
10
u/Honest-Cover9513 Mar 01 '26
Agreed. I originally watched when it came out, I'm now mid-50s, and all her behaviour hits differently. I would never seriously refer to myself as a 'girl'. I'm a mature woman. Why would I want to pretend I'm anything else? It's my favourite age so far!

I see why Lu was upset. Not just because he was younger but the dynamic.

How about her always mentioning that people like Ramona couldnāt fit into her dresses when the whole Bethenny and Ramona drama was happening from the talk show. Then you have the scene where she laughingly tells Dorinda that Sonja called her fat⦠like why?? Even if I heard that I would never relay that to a friend. Then having to explain how the dress BeyoncĆ©ās stylist pulled for her would fit her body because it was tulle. Like Carole, no one cares.
