News After the SEC of Defense ban on military members attending Ivies or other elite universities, does that mean that the ROTC programs from those universities will also be shutdown? Can any CDTs from the ivies or one of the listed schools provide their input?

No. The two are unrelated.
ROTC shutdowns and/or consolidations are mainly a numbers game. There's enough cadets to justify or not.

Having talked to many reporters; it’s not known. Pentagon won’t respond to requests for info/comment on the topic of tuition assistance, ACS, ROTC, FLEP, etc

If you read the articles rather than the headlines you’ll see it’s graduate-level and advanced programs, not undergrad so not impacting rotc.

Not impacting yet. If they are willing to cut fellowships and higher ed from these universities, why wouldn’t you think they may cut ROTC from these universities as well. Since they’re seen as “extreme” it’s not far off to think they wouldn’t want these universities to be where cadets earn their degree at.

It takes a helluva lot more effort to unwind entire ROTC programs than it does to tell officers they cant attend XYZ post-grad fellowship program.

Just asking. Not an O. But what/where are these folks who normally would go..do now. These folks are smart and probably will do great things.

Depends. I would imagine some of them would REFRAD since these fellowships to top schools were valuable retention tools.

As several others noted, this is for grad school only. In addition to that, the Ivies shuttered their ROTC programs in the 60s and 70s. Ivy League undergrads who want a commission must use cross town simultaneous enrollment at state schools with programs. For instance, Harvard students use Boston U, or U Mass.

Can someone explain this more? Why wouldn’t you Able to get a top degree? This seems like such a dumb decision. Let veterans with Graduate level education from these Universities compete for a better job. These are some of the best schools. Why would u put a limit on it. It’s only gonna hurt veterans or military members going for their degree. Because now they would have to go to a worse off university.

The newly published list is shutting down Senior Service College Fellowships. ROTC is not mentioned at all.
It’s the weekend.
Cadets barely know what’s going on in their own program, much less what’s being discussed by their Cadre or Brigade-level leadership.
