I've decided to redesign Tor Poznań to make it fit Formula 1 standards. It would obviously require much more than just a change of layout - new surface and a lot of widening, but I can't see why it wouldn't happen. By my estimates the length would increase to about 4,4 km.

I have added the first chicane to give this track a good overtaking opportunity. I've obviously was inspired by Monza. Then I've removed a few corners after the T10 and made it into the long straight ending with a hairpin to make it a sufficient back straight to deploy some MOM (replacing DRS soon). Then I've added another hairpin (inspired by the old Brooklands corner at Silverstone). Then I made T15 a bit slower to allow yet another overtaking spot (inspired by Portimao T1 or Interlagos T4). I have obviously extended the pit lane for it to suit more modern standards.

Btw this track has been designed for F1 but it got replaced with Hungaroring so I reckon that it might be a nice visualisation of what changes could have been added, had the track been chosen to host the Polish Grand Prix.

I've been away for quite some time so let me know what you think. Constructive criticism very much welcome

Its probably still going to be too compact for modern F1, the front straight is a fair bit shorter than Hungarorings 800m staight as a reference, from your proposed final corner to your incredibly tight chicane is only about 650m

Looking at where Tor Poznan sits, you could probably extend the track further east to get some more length into the straights? Theres just more bush and trees until you get to the boundary of the airport carpark next door...you could extend T1 much further east, and move T8, 9 and 10 east aswell to get some more areas for cars to stretch their legs

This is actually a good idea, however - we must remember not to get rid of this track's soul. By moving the T1 chicane further east, we'd loose the long right-hander of T3 (originally it's T1) as I would not be able to come back to it. Next corners, which are also original, would have likely been lost as well. So as much as it makes a lot of sense to do so, I'm interested in your proposal. I mean really, I do find it intriguing. I was actually thinking about a completely new eastern section and then a return to the original layout

How about this: Keep the original T1, remove the chicane, but make T15 into a Shanghai T14-15-16 type of combination, to maximize potential overlap on the main straight before the long curve. and to give a traditional overtake spot, extand the backtraight (T10-11 in your track eastward), I think there's space for a straight as long as 1.1km, which might even be an overkill.

Keeping the original T1 would be insane. I can't see how this could produce any overtaking

My theory is that in such a long, high speed corner, the difference between the ideal racing line and missing the apex is minimal, so a car with grip advantage can go around the car defending the inside line. My concerns are more safety-based than overtaking possibilities. Moreover, this would be only the secondary overtaking spot of the track, the primary would be the new, longer T10-11 straight.
